Station unveils plans for MyYTV
YOUNGSTOWN WYTV-33 vice president and general manager Dave Trabert held a press conference Wednesday to announce the station's plans for several new local programs to be broadcast from its new downtown studio, MyYTV. Trabert was joined by Pat Livingston, the station's news director, and news anchor Vince Bevacqua.
Also on hand was Andrea Mahone, who will co-host one of the new programs, "For the People," with Bevacqua.
"For the People" will be produced by WYTV in cooperation with Cumulus Radio and will be simulcast from 3 to 5 p.m. weekdays on MyYTV and WSOM-AM. A live audio stream at www.wytv.com also will be available, and the show will be rebroadcast on the channel from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays.
The show will originate from the downtown studio and is designed to promote constructive dialog about the serious challenges facing the community as well as possible solutions.
Dave Steele, Doug James, Mary Ann Graff, Scott Kennedy and other Cumulus radio talent also will have guest roles on the show.
Live news broadcasts will be featured at 10 each night and will be rebroadcast at 2 a.m. The morning and 6 p.m. newscasts on WYTV also will be rebroadcast on MyYTV.
Another show, "MySportsTalk," will be presented at 10:30 p.m. weekdays with hosts Bob Hannon and Bill Castrovince.
Local high schools that have broadcasting classes will have the opportunity to produce their own half-hour shows to be broadcast Saturdays and Sundays. Trabert said that this would provide area students with invaluable practical experience in broadcasting.
Mahone, who serves as youth community director for Youngstown, also will host "Increase the Peace," a program designed to give youths ideas and activities to help stop violence.
