Boardman woman indicted in felonies

The charges carry one to five years in prison.

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted a Boardman woman on forgery and aggravated-theft charges alleging she forged 363 checks totaling $260,658, which were drawn on the account of her former employer.

Christine A. Curtis, 45, of Brookwood Road, was charged with stealing from Allied Erecting and Dismantling Co. Inc. of Poland Avenue, which employed her for 2 1/2 years.

Thursday's indictment alleges that the crimes were committed between Nov. 4, 2005, and Dec. 3, 2007. The charges are third-degree felonies, each carrying potential prison time between one and five years.

Shortly after Curtis was initially charged in Youngstown Municipal Court last month, Magistrate Dominic DeLaurentis of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court issued a restraining order freezing bank accounts where her former employer said she may have deposited stolen funds.

In its civil lawsuit, Allied said: "Curtis wrongfully and intentionally converted the funds of AED to her personal use."
