FRANKLIN, Pa. Lawrence County Treasurer Gary Felasco was sentenced to one to seven years in state prison at 10 a.m. today in Venango County Common Pleas Court.
Felasco, 39, was taken in handcuffs to Venango County Jail immediately after sentencing to be processed.
He was sentenced by Senior Visiting Judge Michael Wherry after being found guilty in May of theft, embezzlement and other charges. Felasco also was stripped of his office during sentencing.
Judge Wherry, who is retired from Mercer County Common Pleas Court, ordered Felasco to pay the cost of prosecution, $77,526.40, as well as restitution to Lawrence County in the amount of $171,552.66.
Felasco also pleaded guilty to and was sentenced on separate charges of theft from the National Association of Wolves Club, in which he served as national treasurer. He cashed in a certificate of deposit belonging to the organization and put the money in his personal bank account. He was given seven years' probation on that charge in exchange for his plea.
