Stagehouse dedication
planned for Tuesday

WARREN — The city will dedicate the new Riverwalk Stagehouse at the Warren Community Amphitheater with opening festivities Tuesday. The evening will kick off with Elvis impersonator Mark Lee Pringle performing at 6 p.m. as the "Hillbilly Cat." Warren Mayor Michael J. O'Brien and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, will have a brief dedication ceremony at 6:45 p.m. followed by a performance by Beatles tribute band "Get Back" at 7 p.m. Local restaurants will be selling a variety of food at the dedication. The event is free. The amphitheater is at 303 Mahoning Ave., adjacent to Courthouse Park. Parking is free in Perkins Park and at the First Presbyterian Church. Neshannock DUI patrols
ongoing this weekend

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Neshannock Township Police Department has been awarded a $1,000 grant for the extra enforcement of drunken-driving and aggressive-driving laws. As part of the grant, officers will be conducting an intense DUI patrol over the Labor Day weekend. Officers will also conduct patrols for aggressive driving such as speeding, stop sign violations and other driving law violations. The grant is from Buckle Up PA and the National Highway Traffic Study Administration.

Streets closed for event

WARREN — The Harley-Davidson Nite at Courthouse Park on Saturday will temporarily close two streets in downtown Warren. West Market Street between Main Avenue and North Park Avenue will be closed from 2 p.m. until midnight. Mahoning Avenue Northwest will also be closed from West Market Street to Monroe Street from 2 p.m. until midnight.

West Nile virus found
in Neshannock, Pulaski

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Mosquito samples taken from Neshannock and Pulaski townships have tested positive for West Nile Virus. This is the first report of the virus in Lawrence County. Mercer County has had several positive mosquito pools in the last few weeks. West Nile is a virus that can affect humans, birds and mammals. In its most severe human cases a person's nervous system if affected. Its symptoms include fever, headache, tiredness, aches and sometimes rash. It is transmitted to humans and animals by mosquitoes.

Adoption open house

WARREN — Northeast Ohio Adoption Services invites singles or couples considering adopting a school-age child or becoming a foster parent to an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the NOAS office, 5000 E. Market St., Suite 26. NOAS, which does not charge fees to families for adoption, offers free adoption classes from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Oct. 17 and continuing Oct. 21, 23, 25 and 28. Car, motorcycle show
set for next Sunday

CANFIELD — A hot rod, antique and import car and motorcycle show will be from 4 to 8 p.m. next Sunday at Old North Church, Herbert Road. All types of stock, custom, tricked-out, and import vehicles are welcome. There will be live music, a variety of great food, free dash plaques for the first 150 registrants, as well as T-shirts, prizes and give-aways. Contraband, the Harley-Davidson motorcycle stunt team, will perform. Proceeds benefit the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley in Youngstown.
