Annie Lee remains critical
HOWLAND A spokesman for University Hospitals, Cleveland, said this morning that Annie Lee remains in critical condition in the hospital system's children's facility, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
A spokesman Sunday night incorrectly said Annie had been upgraded to stable, today's spokesman said.
Annie, 13, was left a quadriplegic after a 2004 hit-and-run accident.
She had been in critical condition Friday in the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit. She was admitted there earlier this month after she developed a bacterial infection and underwent surgery.
Mike Ferrarri, media relations coordinator for Rainbow, said he did not know if she was still in the intensive care unit.
Annie was injured when she was struck by an SUV on U.S. Route 422 at North Road. The driver, Irving R. Russ of Warren, is awaiting trial on charges stemming from the accident.
