WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners have given preliminary approval to a $1,065,000 waterline project to serve parts of Logan Way and Tibbetts-Wick Road in Liberty.

Commissioners today approved advertising for a qualifications statement from companies wishing to provide engineering services for the project.

Gary Newbrough, county sanitary engineer, said the waterline will be constructed on Logan Way from Will-O-Wood Drive north to Tibbetts-Wick and then east to Sampson Drive.

The cost of construction will come from a $735,000 Issue 2 grant secured by Girard, $175,000 from Liberty Township for engineering, $77,500 from Girard and $77,500 from the county, Newbrough said. He added that it was difficult to tell how soon construction would occur.

Other action

In other business, commissioners:

Authorized the board president to sign a purchase agreement and other documents associated with the purchase of 100 acres in Mesopotamia Township to create a metropark. It will be paid for with a $86,563 Clean Ohio grant.

Awarded a bid of $146,139 to Shelly & Sands Inc. of Girard for a paving project on Warren-Meadville Road between state Route 305 in Bazetta Township and state Route 46 in Cortland. The city will pay $27,420 because a section of about 850 feet of the project is in the city limits, said Mike Sliwinski, project manager for the county engineer's office. He said construction is expected to start by early November and take a couple of days.

Authorized Paulette Godfrey, commissioners clerk and interim county administrator, to negotiate the purchase of a six-unit apartment building near other county property on Harmon Avenue.

Approved the construction of the Lakeshore Drive sanitary sewer project in Bazetta Township.

Approved an agreement paying Thomas Fok & Associates, LTD, Warren, $234,800 for engineering services for the Brookfield Center Phase II sanitary sewer project. It will cost around $1.6 million and serve the residents of Grove and Seaborn streets and portions of Warren-Sharon Road and state Route 7 in Brookfield Township Square.
