Volunteers needed for Make a Difference Day
YOUNGSTOWN Volunteer Services Agency Inc. and Our Valley's Volunteers, the Valley's address for volunteerism, is organizing projects and volunteers for Make a Difference Day Ohio in the Mahoning Valley on Oct. 28.
The goal is to involve volunteers from the Valley to help meet the needs of the community. Volunteer Services Agency, based in Boardman, will help people and agencies identify a need in the community, put together a team of friends, church members, students or co-workers and plan a project.
Ohio first lady Hope Taft and Jim Tressel, head football coach at Ohio State University, are co-chairing this year's efforts in Ohio.
Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of helping others using locally designed projects to mobilize volunteers to make a difference in their communities. Oct. 27 is the MDDO Optional Service Day in Ohio for those who cannot participate Oct. 28. However, Oct. 27 projects are not eligible for national recognition or awards.
AEP, Grange Insurance, Chase and Mills James Productions are the premiere sponsors for Make a Difference Day Ohio.
Contact Volunteer Services Agency Inc. at (330) 782-5877, or visit the Web site at www.volunteerservicesagency.org and click on the Seasons of Service button to download participation forms.
