Officials to discuss benefits of regionalization
LIBERTY The Regional Chamber is bringing together more than 60 elected officials to talk about local governments working together.
Billed as a regionalization summit, the session will be at 8 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex here. Township trustees, mayors, city council members and county commissioners are invited.
Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, Warren Mayor Dan O'Brien and John Husted, speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, are scheduled to share their ideas on regionalization.
The chamber said it will bring in other experts to talk about combining safety services and local governments working together on vehicle and parts purchases.
The chamber said the session will examine the advantages to regionalization and whether there would be cost savings and improved opportunities for economic development.
