Burglary suspects arrested after car runs out of gas
WARREN — Out of gas, off to jail.
Two burglary suspects' attempt to elude police was foiled when their getaway car ran out of gas.
Brandon Cash, 23, of Brighton Avenue Northeast and Steven M. Wire, 24, of McDonald were charged with breaking and entering after they were found early Wednesday with $175 in one-dollar bills and coins from the Homac Spray and Wash, 2900 Parkman Road N.W.
A police report said two officers found the rear garage door of the carwash kicked in after they responded to an alarm. Police then followed footprints in the snow a short distance to Coit Drive Northwest, where they found Wire setting in a car with the money.
Wire told police that the car was out of gas, and shortly thereafter, Cash arrived on the scene with a gas can he had borrowed from a man who lived on Coit Drive.
Officers then matched the men's shoes to the footprints in the snow before taking them into custody, the report said. They were in Trumbull County Jail on Thursday.
