JAN. 4: A PURSE SNATCHING OUTSIDE THE MCDONALD'S ON RACCOON ROAD INJURED A...
Jan. 4: A purse snatching outside the McDonald's on Raccoon Road injured a 74-year-old woman, who was shoved to the ground. Eric Begley, 21, of Signature Drive, was charged with robbery and pleaded guilty and was convicted of attempted felonious assault. He was sentenced to prison. Robert Carfolo Jr., 25, of Ridgelawn Drive, Youngstown was charged with complicity to robbery. He was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison.
Jan 9: A woman was assaulted during a purse snatching at the Shell gas station on Mahoning Avenue. John Lee, 40, of Westminster Avenue, Austintown, was convicted of attempted robbery and sentenced to community control.
Feb. 6: Two women were bound and gagged during a robbery at the Central Park West apartment complex office off Idaho Road.
March 25: An attempted robbery at the Little Lotto Shack on Mahoning Avenue yielded nothing.
March 27: An armed robber stole jewelry from a woman outside her apartment complex on Westchester Drive.
April 2: A man grabbed money out of the cash register at Schwebel's Bakery on Mahoning Avenue after pushing the clerk to the floor.
May 10: A man attempted to rob a taxi driver on Lynnhaven Drive. Gary Brainard Jr., 37, of North Redgate Lane, was sentenced to prison on the robbery charge.
May 16: A man was robbed outside his apartment on Woodhurst Drive. Brainard was sentenced to three years for the robbery after a plea.
May 16: A clerk was shot in the leg after he followed two robbers at the Sav-A-Step Food Mart at 4226 Mahoning Ave. Deondray L. Robinson, 18, of Delaware Avenue, and Deaunte T. Riley, 18, of South Avenue, both Youngstown, were both charged with aggravated robbery, and their cases are pending.
June 17: A man robbed the BP gas station on Mahoning Avenue.
Aug. 15: A man robbed the Speedway on Kirk Road. A police officer who was driving by saw the robbery in progress, and the suspect was chased and caught. Nicholas Molina, 18, of Youngstown is set to go to trial June 6.
Sept. 17-18: Four robberies occurred late Saturday into early Sunday morning that weekend. Hit were Certified Oil on North Niles-Canfield Road, McQuaid's on North Meridian Road, the Fairfield Inn on North Niles-Canfield Road and the Get Go on Mahoning Avenue.
Oct. 5: A First American employee was robbed of a deposit on her way to her car at the Mahoning Avenue business.
Oct. 11: McQuaid's on North Meridian Road was robbed.
Oct. 13: A woman was robbed in the driveway of First Place Bank on Mahoning Avenue while making a store deposit there.
Oct. 15: The BP gas station on Mahoning Avenue was robbed.
Nov. 11: The Fuel Mart on Seventy-Six Drive was robbed by a man who tied up the clerk with plastic ties and then pepper-sprayed her face.
Nov. 15: A robber at the News and Lottery on South Raccoon Road tied up the clerk with plastic ties.
Nov. 22: The Fuel Mart was robbed again, and the cashier was tied with plastic ties. Charges are pending against one suspect in all three of the November robberies.
Dec. 14: A Pro Car Auto Group employee was punched by a man who then stole a bank deposit from her outside the Mahoning Avenue business.
