Community Center plans grand opening
WARREN When the Rebecca Williams Center closed its doors because of financial challenges, the United Methodist Community Center saw a substantial loss of resources for Warren youth and developed a plan to extend its services.
The United Methodist Community Center is at 760 Main Ave. S.W. and offered a variety of youth programming throughout the summer. On Saturday, the center will celebrate the official grand opening of its Warren site.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the United Methodist Community Center from 1 to 3 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. Complimentary hot dogs, popcorn and beverages will be offered. Clowns will also be on hand to entertain the children.
In a continuation of the celebration, Warren-area pianist Dana Kristina Joi Morgan will present a piano recital at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at First United Methodist Church. Jonathan Blanchard, a bass vocalist from Atlanta, Ga., will be the guest soloist. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
The United Methodist Community Center is a nonprofit organization serving Warren-area young people and their families that are in crisis. A variety of character-building programs are being offered. For more information, call (330) 373-6480.
