PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT: Emily Siddall, 2 1/2, gets a little help from her mother, Kristine, as she works on a project at the Union School District's new literacy preschool program at Union Elementary School. The program, known as the Scottie Pups Literacy Program, named for the district's Scottish terrier mascot, is designed to get children accustomed to school at an early age.
