Plans for Wal-Mart in Liberty proceed
Demolition of 314,000 square feet of the Liberty Plaza will occur in July or August.

WARREN If there's any doubt about whether Wal-Mart is coming to Liberty, the engineering company working on the project for Wal-Mart dispelled that Tuesday.
Justin D. Dietz, project manager for KS Associates of Elyria, revealed during a meeting with the Trumbull County Planning Commission that the Supercenter going into the Liberty Plaza is expected to open during the third quarter of 2008.
Also, Fred Reitano, executive vice president for J.J. Gumberg Co. of Pittsburgh, owner of the plaza, said two tenants are already starting to move from their present locations in the plaza to the section Wal-Mart will not be using.
Officials say Wal-Mart will occupy 22.3 acres of the 34.5-acre plaza on Belmont Avenue, including parking.
Dietz said 314,000 square feet of the plaza will be demolished around July or August to make room for the 184,110-square foot store. A section of the plaza will remain from the Movie Gallery store near Belmont Avenue to the Save-A-Lot grocery store, Deitz said.
Two businesses in the section being torn down, Dollar General and Sally Beauty Supply, are relocating closer to Movie Gallery, Reitano said. The Wal-Mart will have a primary access road off Belmont Avenue and a secondary access on Goldie Road.
