Offenders sentenced in Mercer



One man assaulted another with a hammer and a golf club.

MERCER, Pa. — These people were recently sentenced in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. Court documents provided the details for their cases:

Anthony Archie, 29, of Fruit Avenue, Farrell, three to six years in a state correctional facility and fined $15,000 for one consolidated count of possessing cocaine with intent to deliver. Archie had cocaine on May 2, May 5, and May 10, 2005, in Farrell.

Emily Astey, 23, of the State Correctional Institute, Muncy, two to 12 months in prison followed by one year's probation for two counts of misdemeanor simple assault. The term was ordered served consecutively to the one she is already serving. On May 23, 2006, Astey was being treated at Sharon Regional Hospital, Sharon, when she shoved a nurse against a wall and punched a female social worker.

Kenneth Hennegan, 49, of Jackson Center, 18 months to three years in the state correctional facility for contraband, a felony. He was found in illegal possession of the drugs Xanax, Klonopin and Lorazapam Sept. 23, 2006, while he was a prisoner at the Mercer County Jail.

Shane Hundley, 32, of Millburn road, Mercer, 16 days to 23 months in jail for a misdemeanor bad checks charge. Hundley wrote $525 worth of bad checks to Walt's Golden Dawn, 531 Greenville Road, Coolspring Township, in September 2006.

Leland Hunt Jr., 38, of Symes Street, Masury, Ohio, 36 days to 23 months in jail for unauthorized use of a vehicle, a misdemeanor. Hunt used another man's 2003 Toyota Camry on March 15, 2006, without the man's permission.

Kimberly Irvin, 20, of Bristol, Pa., 15 days to one year in jail for access device fraud, a misdemeanor. In October 2006, she took credit cards belonging to two students at Thiel College, Greenville, to buy $500 worth of merchandise. In addition, she took $100 cash and a cell phone out of one of the victims' purses.

Lawrence Owens, of the Mercer County Jail, one to two years in jail followed by three years' probation for simple assault and terroristic threats, both misdemeanors, and harassment, a summary offense. On March 9, 2006, he entered a Hamilton Avenue, Farrell residence by force. Once inside, he assaulted a man with a hammer and a golf club and threatened a woman.

Ryan Campbell, 18, of Thornton Avenue, Sharon, six months to two years in prison for attempted burglary, a felony. He entered a West Shenango Street, Sharpsville, residence Sept. 6, 2006, and took $600 worth of CDs, video games and DVDs.

Andrew Kiester, 18, of Main Street, Sharpsville, 111/2 to 23 months in prison followed by four years' probation for attempted burglary, a felony. He was ordered to make restitution and given credit for 145 days served. Kiester burglarized a West Shenango Street, Sharpsville, residence Sept. 6, 2006, and stole CDs, video games and DVDs.

Michael McMillan, 54, of Darr Avenue, Farrell, eight months to two years in prison for felony robbery. He was ordered to make restitution and given credit for 222 days served. On May 4, 2006, he robbed a man on New Castle Avenue, Sharon, and repeatedly struck him with a baseball bat and an ax handle. The man suffered a fractured leg and ruptured eardrum. McMillan got away with $90 and a bottle of medication from the victim.

Anthony Phillips, 36, of the State Correctional Facility, Mercer, six months to five years in prison for receiving stolen property, a felony. He was apprehended on Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, in April 2006 with property that had been stolen from American Industries.

Gerald Teague, 37, of the Mercer County Jail, 10 months to two years in prison followed by three years' probation for a felony and a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. On Jan. 6, 2006, Teague stole a boat and two aluminum ladders worth a total of $3,560 from a Stewart Avenue, Sharon, address. Then between April 9 and 30, 2006, he possessed $2,000 worth of property that had been stolen from American Industries. And on May 25, 2006, he took a $100 electric stove from a South Oakland Avenue, Sharon, address.

James Lightner, 30, of Maple Way, Sharon, eight months to two years in prison and ordered to make restitution for felony aggravated assault. On June 7, 2006, he struck another man with a barstool at the Side Pocket Café, 109 E. Silver St., Sharon, causing him hip pain. He also did $500 damage to a door at the business.
