Lawsuit seeks removal of sex offender
WARREN Warren Law Director Gregory Hicks has filed a lawsuit against a man classified as a sexually oriented offender for living within 1,000 feet of Horace Mann Elementary School.
The complaint, filed Friday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, asks a judge to rule that Sidney Jordan of Hamilton Street Southwest be required to move from the home. The case is assigned to Judge W. Wyatt McKay.
The suit says Jordan was convicted of rape Aug. 18, 1981, and was classified as a sexually oriented offender and/or child victim predator. As such, he is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of any school, the suit says.
In an affidavit dated July 28, Russ Molinatto, Trumbull County Jail assistant warden, stated that Jordan registered his address on Hamilton Street with the sheriff's department July 26. Molinatto then contacted the county tax map department, which calculated that the address is 826 feet from the school.
