Pa. State Police commissioner promotes 2



HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Jeffrey B. Miller has promoted Gary L. Schuler of Butler, Butler County, and Kirt T. Snyder of Shenango Township, Mercer County, to lieutenant.

Miller assigned Schuler as director of the Firearms Section in the State Police Bureau of Records and Identification.

Schuler, 49, most recently served as supervisor of the Patrol Unit at Troop D, New Castle.

A native of Warren, Schuler enlisted in the state police in 1982.

Schuler received a bachelor's degree in health science from Slippery Rock University in 1988.

Schuler and his wife, Cheryl, have four children.

Snyder was assigned as station commander at Troop D, Mercer.

Snyder, 43, most recently served in the Western Section of the Internal Affairs Division of the State Police Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards.

A native of West Middlesex, Snyder enlisted in the state police in 1987.

As he progressed through the ranks, he also served at stations in Seneca, New Castle, Mercer, Shickshinny and Clarion. He was promoted to corporal in 1999 and to sergeant in 2004.

Snyder served in the U.S. Marines from 1982 to 1986.

He is married to the former Mardi L. Plymire, a native of West Middlesex. They have two children, Morgan, 6, and Sidney, 5.
