NEW RATES | Ups and downs
The U.S. Postal Service forever stamp goes on sale Thursday for 41 cents, which is the new first-class postage rate that will kick in May 14. New postal rates for selected categories, all effective May 14:
Letters: 41 cents for up to one ounce, up 2 cents.
Heavier letters: 58 cents for up to two ounces, down 5 cents.
Postcards: 26 cents, up 2 cents.
Priority Mail: $4.60, up 55 cents, for envelope.
Express Mail: $16.25, up $1.85, for envelope.
Parcel Post: $4.50, up 55 cents, for one-pound package.
Bank statement: 45.9 cents,
down 8.6 cents.
Utility bill: 31.2 cents, up 1.9 cents.
