Police are called to the scenes of two stabbings in one night
Both victims were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
YOUNGSTOWN — City police are investigating two separate stabbing incidents that happened within minutes early Monday.
According to police reports, officers were sent to the Willis Street home of 41-year-old Tressie Rice at 1:54 a.m. where she was found bleeding from the buttocks. Rice, reports say, told officers she got into an argument with her live-in boyfriend, 72-year-old Nathaniel Dumas, because Dumas felt she and a friend were being too loud.
Rice told officers that Dumas eventually took a pocket knife and stabbed her in the buttocks.
Dumas, reports say, told officers he stabbed Rice in self-defense.
Rice was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and is listed as stable. Dumas was charged with felonious assault and taken to Mahoning County Jail.
Another stabbing
Police received another call just after 2 a.m. from a home in the 2000 block of Oregon Avenue. There, reports say, officers found 18-year-old Columbus Jones of Oregon lying face down on a couch bleeding heavily from the back.
Jones, reports say, told officers that he had been walking down Oregon Avenue when he heard someone say "empty your pockets." He told officers he ignored the demand, but was grabbed from behind and stabbed a few seconds later, then ran to his home where his girlfriend let him in and called police.
Jones was taken to St. Elizabeth, but not admitted.
