Garden project debuts at center

CORTLAND — An opening ceremony took place recently at the Ohio State University Extension Trumbull Master Gardeners Research and Demonstration Garden located at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., to showcase a new garden project.

Fifteen scarecrows were decorated in the 3,000-square-foot garden and will be on display until the middle of October.

The garden is a culmination of three years of planning and planting by volunteers while being supported with private donations. Among the items in the garden are annuals, grasses, perennials, rocks and roses.

The Master Gardeners will use money raised from fund-raising projects to make the garden wheelchair-accessible. Anyone who wants to make a donation, purchase a memorial bench or receive a group tour should call OSU extension agent Steve Hudkins at (330) 638-6783.
