Five escape fire at Hillman Avenue house



YOUNGSTOWN — Fire caused an estimated $5,000 damage to a three-story brick home at 3419 Hillman Ave. around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The five occupants, two women and three children ages 2, 13 and 14, escaped without injury.

City firefighters said the fire ignited in the wall of a second-floor bathroom and extended into the hallway before it was extinguished. There was also smoke and water damage on the first and second floors.

An electrical short is the suspected cause.
