Regionalism to be subject of program at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN — Joan Riehm, deputy mayor of Louisville Metro Government, will discuss local government cooperation and the lessons learned when the Kentucky city merged its government with its county.
Community members are invited to attend the one-hour program at 6 p.m. Thursday, "Regionalism: What Is It and Can It Work Here?" at Youngstown State University in the Kilcawley Center's Chestnut Room. The program will be simulcast on PBS 45&49 television, and on WYSU-FM radio at 8 p.m. Thursday. It will air again on the PBS stations at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Reservations for the event are required by e-mailing 2010@wneo.org. Names of those who are attending should be included in the e-mail. Those attending should arrive no later than 6 p.m.
Vince Bevacqua, co-anchor and reporter for WYTV Channel 33, is the program host. The local PBS stations invited more than 325 elected and appointed officials from Mahoning and Trumbull counties to attend the event.
