Woman, 28, charged in assault
WARREN A 28-year-old Warren woman is charged with using her vehicle to knock a man from his wheelchair, then destroying it by running it over repeatedly.
Bond was set Monday at $15,000 by municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak for Rachael R. Sherman, of Ridge Road, on a charge of felonious assault. She was in the Trumbull County Jail on Monday.
Police reported receiving a disturbance call about 5:30 a.m. Sunday involving a sport utility vehicle at York Avenue and Jackson Street Southwest.
While responding, police stopped an SUV on Palmyra Road that matched the description of one reportedly involved in the disturbance. Sherman was sitting in the vehicle crying and visibly upset.
Police found Jesse Owens, 30, of Colonial Street, lying in a front yard at York and Palmyra.
Owens told police he and Sherman had been arguing when he started wheeling himself down the road. She used her vehicle to knock him out of his chair, he added.
He reported that he was able to crawl to the side of the road, while Sherman drove back and forth over his chair. Owens was released after treatment at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
