Col. Udo Karl McGregor took over as commander of the 910th Airlift Wing during a change of command ceremony Sunday at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. A look back at his military assignments:
1976: After graduating from high school in Savannah, Ga., he enlisted in the Air Force as a helicopter mechanic at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.
1977-80: Helicopter flight engineer at Shaw AFB.
1980-82: C-141A/B flight engineer, Charleston AFB, South Carolina.
1982-84: C-130B flight engineer, Kelly AFB, Texas.
1984-85: C-5A flight engineer, Kelly.
1985-86: Attended Officer Training School, Lackland AFB, Texas, and took part in undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas, respectively.
1986-97: C-5 examiner pilot, Kelly. Activated for Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield during the Gulf war.
1997-99: Chief of strategic airlift operations, Robins AFB, Georgia.
1999-2002: Operations officer, 756th Airlift Squadron, Andrews AFB, Maryland.
2002-03: Attended senior service school, Naval War College, Newport, R.I.
2003-07: Commander, 439 Operations Group, Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts.
Sunday: Became the 17th commander of the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station.
