YOUNGSTOWN — Vandals painted graffiti on the north wall of the Youngstown Playhouse, according to a police report. The manager of the playhouse, on Playhouse Lane, off Glenwood Avenue, told police he locked the building at 11 p.m. Friday and the graffiti was discovered at 10:21 a.m. Saturday.

AUSTINTOWN — The Salvation Army, Mahoning Avenue, will provide child care Friday and Oct. 16. There will be no school for pupils those days.Children can stay at the agency from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be served, and the children may participate in arts, crafts, movies and games.

Holistic pet care

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — EverGreen, a ministry of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, will sponsor a program on holistic pet care from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Education Center at Villa Maria Community Center. Dr. Cynthia Maro, a veterinarian, will discuss the benefits of holistic care and how it can improve the quality of life for pets. The cost is $5. Registration is not required but appreciated. Halloween parade set

WARREN — The city will have its annual Halloween parade at 2 p.m. Oct. 29. Parade registration is open until Friday, with each participant required to decorate their entry in either a Halloween or a patriotic theme.

Participants can obtain a registration form at city hall at 391 Mahoning Ave. The parade will begin at Perkins Park and go to downtown Warren. For more information contact Shalee Brainard at (330) 841-2601.

Girl hit by car

COLUMBIANA — City police said a 17-year-old female pedestrian was in stable condition Sunday after being hit by a car on state Route 14 near Farmers National Bank. Columbiana police say the accident occurred at 9:53 p.m. Saturday with the car traveling west on state Route 14. The accident is under investigation, and no charges were filed as of Sunday. The girl was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The driver was not injured, said Columbiana police, who wouldn't release the names of those involved in the accident.

Flu shots in Niles

NILES — Flu shots will be given by the Niles Health Department at the Niles Senior Center, 14 E. State St., from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 20. The vaccine is for those age 65 and older, or any age with a chronic illness. Medicare cards and Anthem Senior Advantage cards are required for free shots. All others pay $15. Appointments can be made beginning Wednesday at (330) 544-3676.
