Restaurant employees report robbery

YOUNGSTOWN — Employees of Taco Bell at 3726 Market Street on the city's South Side told police Wednesday a man dressed as a woman robbed the store around 4 p.m.

Employees alerted a police officer parked near the store, saying a man wearing shorts, a flaming red wig and lipstick sat on the curb near the store for several minutes, then came in and asked for a drink of water.

When an employee opened the cash register while waiting on a customer, the man pulled out a butcher knife, and employees ran to the back of the store. The man put the cash drawer into a vinyl purse he was carrying and fled on foot.

The officer who took the report said he had been on another call nearby and, while typing a report from that call, the man wearing the wig had walked by his parked patrol car.
