Drop is reported in alcohol-related traffic fatalities
YOUNGSTOWN Alcohol-related traffic fatalities have decreased as of this time last year.
According to the Mahoning County Safe Communities program, there was only one traffic death in Mahoning County during July.
As of July 31, there have been five fatal crashes and seven fatalities this year.
The accidents occurred in Canfield, Austintown, Green, Boardman and Youngstown. That is compared with 15 fatal crashes and 18 fatalities for the same time frame in 2005.
There has been one confirmed alcohol involvement known to date, compared with eight in 2005.
The Safe Communities program establishes and expands community partnerships to create safer, healthier communities throughout Ohio.
