YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested Keith L. Smith, 34, of Lakewood Avenue, at 1:45 a.m. Sunday after officers on routine patrol heard loud music coming from his vehicle parked at a restaurant parking lot in the 1800 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Police said that they could see two bottles of the narcotic Tussionex in the car. Smith was issued a summons for the loud music and transported to Mahoning County Jail and booked on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs. The drugs and $1,350 in cash were confiscated. He was to appear at 9 a.m. today in Youngstown Municipal Court.

Drinking-in-car charge

YOUNGSTOWN — Officers arrested Travis Donaldson, 36, of Gypsy Lane, after observing him back a car into a driveway in the 100 block of West Evergreen Avenue about 7 p.m. Saturday and drink from a whiskey bottle.

A search of the vehicle yielded four bags of suspected marijuana and two bags of suspected crack cocaine along with $80 in cash. Donaldson was taken to Mahoning County Jail on a charge of consumption of alcohol in a car. The passengers were given verbal warnings concerning alcohol consumption in a vehicle.

Cell phone drive

CAMPBELL — Campbell Academic Association is having a cell phone drive for used cell phones that are no longer in service. Consider donating your old cell phone. Drop-off boxes are located at Campbell Elementary and Middle School offices, Memorial High School office and the Water Department in city hall. For more information, call (330) 755-2510. Proceeds will help provide five $1,000 scholarships.

Felon-with-gun charge

YOUNGSTOWN — A loaded gun was found in a bedroom during a parole check at a home in the 500 block of Cameron Avenue.

Juanita Yohman, 44, of 558 Cameron, was charged with having weapons under disability (having a gun after being convicted of a felony), which is a parole violation.

Also located during the check at 11:50 a.m. Saturday were two AK-47 magazines, a magazine for a pistol, a 9 mm magazine with one live round and a box of 22-caliber ammunition. Police also found four bags of suspected marijuana in a shoebox along with a marijuana plant.

YOUNGSTOWN — Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc. now is able to provide TeleInterpreters Language Services on calls coming in through the Lifeline Network. The service provides support for more than 150 languages and dialects and is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days per year.
