Fourteen soldiers of the 423rd Quartermaster Battalion were awarded for serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and other operations as part of a ceremony at John Kunkel Army Reserve Center in Warren. Those receiving awards and their accomplishments:

Spc. Tracey L. Clinkscale: Deployed to Tikrit, Iraq, where she worked as a specialist distributing supplies to various Army units.

Spc. Shiyla B. Hakeem: Sent to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where she worked with a joint detention operations group providing administrative support.

Spc. Bree A. Byers: Deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, where she drove a truck more than 3,000 miles, with no accidents, delivering supplies to various units.

Spc. Thomas J. Lyons: Deployed to Baghdad and provided force protection during hostilities. Sgt. Kenneth E. Boardman, Lyons and Byers and also provided more than 70 million gallons of water to U.S. and British forces as well as Iraqi prisoners of war.

Sgt. Carvella M. Sarchione: Deployed to Baghdad and oversaw incoming and outgoing mail.

Cpt. Gregory O. McCray: Deployed to Balad, Iraq.

Maj. Patrick B. Howard: Deployed to Balad.

Unable to attend were:

Sgts. Martin E. Mounts, Joshua R. Zeller and Gary A. Boddeker; Msgs. Daniel S. West and Eric Vimmerstedt; and Maj. Nicholas B. Louketis. Their duties included handling detainee operations, working with Iraq Security Forces and taking care of support and training.
