Pennsylvania State Police take applications for citizens academy
BUTLER, Pa. The Pennsylvania State Police in Butler is accepting applications for its 2008 Citizens Police Academy. The CPA will begin from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 25. The academy will be held every Monday for 12 weeks. The day of the week is subject to change.
The following topics will be covered: history and structure of the state police, collision investigation and reconstruction, use of drug dogs, special emergency response team, polygraph, role of a state trooper, use of force, court system, criminal investigations, forensics, state police helicopter and liquor control enforcement.
The class of 20 adults will be made up of a cross-section of Butler, Armstrong, Beaver, Lawrence and Mercer County residents.
Interested adults, without criminal records, and who have not attended a previous Citizens Police Academy, may register for the class by personally appearing at the Butler barracks and obtaining the following: class registration form, criminal information release form and general release and waiver of liability form. Completed forms must be returned by Feb. 8.
