Man is arrested in three robberies
BOARDMAN Police arrested a 27-year-old township man in three robberies, two at the same store.
Eric G. Lawson of Turnberry Drive was arrested on the three warrants Thursday afternoon at the Mahoning County Justice Center.
He is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of robbery. He's accused of the Nov. 17 and the Nov. 29 robberies at the Family Dollar on South Avenue and the Nov. 21 robbery of Walgreens on East Midlothian Boulevard.
Lawson remains in jail.
In the most recent Family Dollar robbery, a store clerk told police that a man walked into the store with a towel over his head and demanded money.
He then reached over the counter and removed cash from the register. The robber kept his hands under his shirt, and the clerk believed he had a weapon.
In the first Family Dollar crime, an employee told police that a man came into the store, selected an item and approached the register.
He then pulled a mask over his face and stuffed his hand inside his pocket as if he had a gun and demanded money.
At Walgreens, an employee told police that she went to the cash register to help a man wearing a hood. When she asked the man how he was, he put his hand over his mouth and told her to open the register and give him the money.
The woman opened the register and the man reached over the counter and took money from the register, and then left the store.
