Organization seeks literacy volunteers
YOUNGSTOWN Project Opportunity, sponsored by the Youngstown City Schools Adult Basic and Literacy Education program, is looking for literacy volunteers.
The organization is offering a free tutor training workshop for people who are willing to help adults in the greater Mahoning Valley learn to read.
The training, which will teach volunteers a specific reading method, will be held at Choffin Career & Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St., on March 10 and 24. The sessions will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days.
Tutor volunteers are asked to commit to working between one and three hours a week, and participants will be matched to work one-on-one with adults who have limited reading skills.
To register for the workshop, call Project Opportunity at (330) 965-1787, Ext. 128, or the ABLE office at (330) 744-8715.
