Fatal crash closes Rte. 11 for hours
The last fatal crash on route 11 was in July near Lisbon.

FOWLER — An accident that claimed the life of one man closed state Route 11 for several hours Monday.
According to reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Raymond Borelli, 49, of New Waterford, was driving a 2004 Ford Cargo van northbound on Route 11 just south of the state Route 305 exit at 9:46 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle.
Borelli crossed over the median and slammed into the left side of a southbound semi-truck, causing the truck to flip on its side.
The truck driver, Theodore Stinchcomb, 59, of Baltimore, was taken to St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigating
The highway patrol is investigating the cause of the accident. Route 11 was closed for several hours while the highway patrol and the Trumbull County Haz-Mat team cleaned up and investigated the accident scene.
The Ohio Department of Transportation routed motorists through state routes 5, 193 and 82 until the highway reopened, which was about 4:30 p.m.
Last crash in July
According to Vindicator archives, the last fatal crash on Route 11 was in July near Lisbon.
Samuel Macke, 17, of Toledo, was killed after a drunken driver rear-ended a vehicle he was riding in.
Christopher H. Morris, 30, of Conneaut, Ohio, was charged in Columbiana County Municipal Court with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to stop in an assured clear distance.
Patrol officials said a truck driven by Morris struck the rear of a van that went off the left side of Route 11 and overturned.
