Dr. Dew fired over sexual battery charge
BOARDMAN A chiropractor charged last week with sexual battery for actions that are alleged to have occurred in 1990 has been fired.
Dr. Joseph B. Masternick, medical director at Physicians Diagnostic & Rehabilitation Center on Trailwood Drive, said the facility's out-of-state owners fired Dr. Gregory S. Dew.
The action came after Dr. Dew, 45, of Kelly Park Road, Columbiana, was charged last week with sexual battery.
Dr. Masternick said Dr. Dew worked at the center for about two years.
"That kind of conduct is unacceptable and is not condoned by our office," Dr. Masternick said.
The encounter that led to the charge occurred in 1990, before Dr. Dew became a chiropractor.
At the time, Dew was coach for a team at Youngstown Gymnastic Center, Market Street. A 15-year-old girl whom he coached alleged sexual activity with Dew.
Dr. Dew was arrested last week and released on an $8,000 bond. He is to appear today in Mahoning County Court.
