Man pleads innocent to attempted bribery
An ex-officer is accused of fixing a traffic ticket.
WARREN — A city man was arraigned on a charge of attempted bribery Thursday, accused of promising or giving $350 to have a Warren traffic ticket fixed.
Eric Fisher, 32, of 902 Francis Ave. S.E., pleaded innocent to the fifth-degree felony before Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. Fisher later posted $5,000 bond.
If convicted, Fisher could be sentenced to as much as six to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine.
Indictment
Chuck Morrow, an assistant county prosecutor, would not say whether the case is connected to the indictment Wednesday of Dewey Gray, a former Warren police detective.
Gray's indictment accuses the ex-officer of fixing a traffic ticket that same day — Feb. 19, 2003.
Morrow also would not say whether Fisher is accused of paying the money, or just offering the money.
Gray, 40, of Bristol-Champion Townline Road in Bristolville, was arraigned Wednesday in common pleas court on charges of tampering with evidence and theft in office in connection with fixing a traffic ticket.
Warren police officials, who handled the investigation of Gray and Fisher, have refused to comment on the basis of Gray's or Fisher's indictment.
They have referred questions to Police Chief John Mandopolous, who has not responded to The Vindicator's inquiries.
