Raymond Roy Barnes, 62

LAKE MILTON – Raymond Roy Barnes, 62, of 1680 Grandview Road, died peacefully at 6:19 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, at his residence following a two-year illness.

He was born Nov. 20, 1944 in Salem to Albert and Lena (Kegg) Barnes.

He retired on Dec. 1, 2004 following 38 years of service as a conductor for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia (Flynn) Barnes, whom he married Nov. 12, 1966; a son, Michael Kenneth Barnes, and a daughter, Michele Rai Barnes, both of Lake Milton; a brother, Lee Barnes of Salem; four sisters, Betty Hull of Warren and Barbara Bates, Rita McGuire and Charlene McGuire, all of Salem; and four grandchildren, Andrea Dee, Michael Ray, Krystal Lynn and Mikaela Jo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Edward Barnes.

At Raymond’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services.

Arrangements are by the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles.


William L. Depp, 73

HOWLAND TOWNSHIP – William L. Depp, 73, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 22, 1933 in Hamilton, Pa., a son of the late Henry Wade and Mary C. (Smith) Depp, and lived in Howland since 1965 coming from Punxsutawney, Pa.

Mr. Depp retired in 1991 from Packard Electric in Warren, where he worked 27 years as service general in Plant 10. He previously worked for Smith Trucking in Oliveburg as a truck driver moving heavy equipment. He was an avid hunter and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Maxine (Horner) Depp, whom he married May 4, 1957; a son, William F. (Sherry) Depp of Austintown; a daughter, Janice E. (Matthew) Stone of Champion Township; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Elizabeth) Depp of Punxsutawney and Paul (Jane) Depp of Allegheny, N.Y.; and a sister, Judy M. (Samuel) Dinger of Stanton, Pa.

A brother, Harold Depp, and a sister, Jean Leasure, both preceded him in death.

Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday with a service to follow at the funeral home at 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at the Oliveburg Presbyterian Church in Oliveburg, Pa., where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Olive Cemetery in Oliveburg.

Material contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Quinton M. Floyd, 23

YOUNGSTOWN – Quinton M. Floyd, 23, departed this life Sunday.

He was born Nov. 14, 1983, the son of Ronnie Hill and Linda Floyd in Youngstown.

He was a 2002 graduate of The Rayen School and participated in track, football, choir and band. He was currently attending Clarion University majoring in business.

Mr. Floyd served in the U.S. Navy and ran track for the Emanon Jaguars for four years and competed nationally. He attended Centenary United Methodist Church and was a member of St. Anthony Prayer Band and enjoyed skating and playing with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Malcolm Floyd of Youngstown; two sisters, Bianca Hill of Columbus and Jeanine McClellan of Youngstown; his grandmothers, Mary A. Smith and Minnie B. Floyd, both of Youngstown; grandfather, William R. Colvin of Youngstown; godmother, Patricia Patterson of Youngstown; a niece, Aija Clarett; two nephews, J’Alfred Clarett and Ty’Sean Floyd of Youngstown; a godson, Andre McCoy Jr.; and a host of family and friends.

Quinton was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley W. McClellan Jr. and his grandfather, Arnold Smith.

Calling hours will be today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Centenary United Methodist Church where funeral services at 11 a.m. today.

Henry Hank Haddle, 88

COLUMBIANA – Henry Hank Haddle, 88, of 903 S. Main St. Apt. A-18, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, at 6:15 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Mr. Haddle was born Dec. 30, 1917 in Campbell, the son of John and Matilda Haddle.

Henry worked in the kitchen at Eat ’n’ Park in Boardman, retiring in 1994. Mr. Haddle was a member of the North Lima Mennonite Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, the former Genevive Winsper Craig, whom he married Dec. 15, 1979; a daughter, Cheryl Lee of Maryland; two stepdaughters, Karen Craig of Boardman and Helen Walker and her husband Ronald of Austintown; two stepsons, Robert Craig and his wife Kim of Martins Ferry and Richard Craig Sr. of New Middletown; a sister, Doris Kilgore of Florida; three brothers, Donald Haddle and Robert Haddle, both of Youngstown and Frank Haddle of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Barbara Mitchell on April 4, 2006; two brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at the North Lima Mennonite Church in North Lima, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert Wengerd officiating.

Burial will be at Paradise Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends and family are encourage to donate to the family to help offset funeral costs.

DeVante “Mooker” M. Kelley, 14

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Washington Funeral Home for DeVante “Mooker” M. Kelley, 14, who departed this life Sunday.

DeVante was born Feb. 19, 1992 in Youngstown, a son of Derrick Johnson and Dawn Kelley.

He was a student at Youngstown Early College and had a love for computers and karate.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father; grandmothers, Joann McKelly and Bessie Johnson; great-grandmother, Jayne Kelley; a great-aunt, Marilyn (James) Hightower who raised him; an aunt, Tori Kelley; two uncles, Kelyn McKelly and Antoine Tate; three brothers, Deandre Johnson, Dwaylon Johnson and Derrick Johnson Jr.; two sisters, Ciera Johnson and Raven Rushton all of Youngstown; a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Daniel McKelly, Kenneth Johnson; great-grandfather, Charles Kelley; great-grandmother, Alice McKelly; great-aunt, Marvel McKelly; and a great-uncle, Ronald McKelly.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Robert S. Meermans

WARREN – There will be a memorial service at noon on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the First Presbyterian Church for Robert S. Meermans, who died at the home of his daughter, Nancy, in Oceanside, Calif., Dec. 16.

Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Felch Meermans; his parents, Robert L. and Jennie Belle Meermans; a sister, Irene Lyons; and a brother, Roger.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the church.

Private burial of his ashes will be at a later date.

As Robert was devoted to the YMCA for many years, the family requests that anyone wishing to make a charitable contribution in his memory consider the Trumbull County YMCA, 210 High St. N.W., Warren, OH 44481.

Marcia F. Merritt, 66

SAN DIEGO – Marcia F. Merritt, 66, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Mrs. Merritt was a native of Youngstown and a 1962 graduate of Youngstown State University.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Michael Merritt; loving sons, Brent (Hilleri) and Stephen Merritt; cherished grandchildren, Isaac and Marni; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Fine; nephews, Brett and Gregg; and niece, Deborah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Fran Fine.

There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. Sunday at Eden Memorial Park in Los Angeles with interment to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 E. 56th St., 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.

Charles B. Puskas Sr., 82

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA. – Charles B. Puskas Sr., 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, in Nashville, Tenn., where he was visiting his daughter and grandchildren for the holidays.

He was born and lived in Youngstown until he retired in Florida in 1981.

Charles served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 and attended Youngstown State University from 1945 to 1948. He worked in the Masonry Department of Republic Steel Corporation of Youngstown from 1948 to 1981, first as a laborer, next as a foreman and supervisor, and then as superintendent of the department.

He was a member of the Masons since 1948.

He is survived by his sister, Sue of Youngstown; son, Charles Jr. and daughter-in-law, Susan of Minneapolis; daughter, Gina Guglielmi of Nashville; and four grandchildren, Rita, Bart, Nicoletta and Giuliana.

There will be a memorial service Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2562 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
