Irene R. June Kenneally Bukovina, 82

GIRARD – Irene R. June Kenneally Bukovina, 82, passed away Sunday Dec. 31, 2006 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

Irene was born April 25, 1924 in Youngstown, to the late Louis and Mary Toth June.

She was homemaker and a member of St. Rose Church.

She is survivedby her children, Irene M. Caracanas, Charlotte Nagi, Patrick Kenneally, Kathleen Mayfield, Marilyn Meyers, Suzanne Cornelius, and Theresa Reuckert;.a brother, Louis June; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Kenneally, whom she married Jan. 24, 1941, and who died April 15, 1963; her second husband, Michael Bukovina, whom she married in 1972 and who died in 1979; and a son, Michael Kenneally.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose Church, preceeded by prayers at 10:30 a.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home, where visitaion will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Mary Ann David, 83

BOARDMAN — Mary Ann David, 83, of Boardman Community Care, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 26, at Beeghly Medical Park.

Ms. David was born Jan. 24. 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Maria (Zimmerman) David.

Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m.

Eva Rakes Dorsey

YOUNGSTOWN – Eva Rakes Dorsey was born March 5, 1947 in Youngstown, a daughter of Henry Lee and Virginia Rakes.

A 1965 graduate of North High School, she was formerly employed with General Motors Fab Plant for 27 years, retiring in June of 2006.

Mrs. Eva Rakes Dorsey was a loved mother and friend to those who knew her. She was caring, kind and always giving. She loved living and was thankful to God for blessing her to rear four sons.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Aslo Taylor of San Diego, Sean Teamor of Charlotte, N.C., Damon Artis of San Diego, Amory Dorsey of Youngstown; a brother, Clarence Rakes; eight grandchildren; two godchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Rescue Mission of Youngstown.

Constance “Connie” Lee Hickman, 63

BOARDMAN—Constance “Connie” Lee Hickman, 63, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 29 at her home.

Connie was born Sept. 5, 1943 in Rock Island, Ill., a daughter of Cyriel (Zeke) and Clara Blondell DeWitte.

She worked for Steri Cycle for several years and then for J.C. Penney in the Southern Park Mall for a short time.

Connie was active in the Austintown Rotary. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren and also loved decorating and gardening.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Meg (John) Werner of Columbus, Lisa (John) Carney of Parkman, Mark Hickman of Columbus and Melissa (Joe) Bruno of Cincinati; four grandchildren, Julianne and Matt Carney and Luc and Olivia Bruno; and two brothers, Rich (Gloria) DeWitte and Tom DeWitte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and the father of her children, Robert Hickman.

Elizabeth Kansa, 85

POLAND — There will be services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mahoning United Methodist Church for Elizabeth Kansa, 85, formerly of Youngstown, who passed away Saturday evening at Hospice House Care Center in Poland.

Elizabeth was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Palin, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Ladislav and Theresa (Ihnatko) Egri and came to New York City as an infant and to the Youngstown area in 1951.

She was a homemaker and mother as well as a member of the church for more than 50 years, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 25 years. She was also active in the Priscilla and Johanna Circles, the Women In God Service and the Wesmeth Class at the church, along with many other church organizations. She was involved in the Cub Scouts and was a former den mother in the past. She was also a very active volunteer within the Youngstown area. She was involved in a family catering service for several years.

Her husband, Michael Kansa, whom she married Sept. 25, 1943, passed away Sept. 10, 1994.

She leaves three sons, Robert M. (Susan) of Mentor, Ronald A. of Austintown and Richard J. of Cleveland; two sisters, Irene Palaygi of New Jersey, and Helen Kretiv and a brother, Michael “Mickey” Paloy, both of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ethel Tokar.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Beverly K. Matchett, 68

WESTFORD, MASS. – Beverly K. (Koeller) Matchett, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 30, peacefully at her home in Westford surrounded by her family

She was born May 26, 1938 in Youngstown, the daughter of Beatrice (Weigand) Koeller of Youngstown and the late Francis Koeller.

She was the wife of the late George Harold Matchett, who died in November of 2001.

Mrs. Matchett was a longtime resident of Westford.

She appreciated the loving support of her many neighbors and friends.

She is survived by her mother; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Matchett and Richard Vaughan of Redwood City, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Marie Matchett of Dracut, Mass.; a sister, Deborah Dolak of Youngstown; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William and Betty Koeller of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Gilbert “Chris” and Janet Koeller of Mountain View, Calif.; two grandchildren, Evelyn and Aurora Vaughan; a sister-in-law, Martha Miller and her husband Martin of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the M. R. Laurin & Son Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St. in Lowell, Mass., where a rosary service will be held at 5:45 p.m. and a prayer service will follow at 8 p.m.

Angelo Sandora Sr., 86

HILLSVILLE, PA – Angelo Sandora Sr., 86, of Overlook Drive, died Sunday morning, Dec. 31, 2006 at his residence.

Mr. Sandora was born Sept. 1, 1926 in Hillsville, a son of the late Giovanni and Pasqualina Fusco Sandora.

His wife, the former Teresa E. Yeropoli, whom he married July 29, 1950, died March 23, 2005.

Mr. Sandora retired from Carbon Limestone Corp. after 45 years of service.

A member of St. Lawrence Church of Christ the King Parish, he was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Campaign. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart and a WWII Victory Medal and he was a member of the “Avengers of Bataan.”

Mr. Sandora enjoyed gardening, hunting, hunting mushrooms and was a member of St. Lucy Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosanne Sandora of Hillsville and Joanne Westover and her husband Robert of Bessemer, Pa.; four sons, John Sandora and wife Cheryl of Lowellville, Angelo Sandora Jr. of Hillsville, Rocky Sandora and wife Jody of Columbus and David Sandora and wife Tina of Mt. Jackson, Pa.; three sisters, Josephine Donatelli and Clara Sandora, both of New Castle, Pa. and Connie McGinnis of Lowellville; and nine grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Logozzo; and three brothers, Samuel, Pete and Andrew Sandora.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road in New Castle.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Church, with burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
