Fern A. Anderson, 90
NEW MIDDLETOWN - Fern A. Anderson, 90 of New Middletown, died Saturday morning at her residence.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Pittsburgh on September 27, 1916, a daughter of Earl S. and Edith H. Waggoner Banks.
She lived in Pasadena, Calif., for 20 years, before moving back to Ohio in 1991.
Mrs. Anderson was a 1934 Graduate of South High School, and attended Youngstown College.
She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church, where she was involved with the Stephen Ministry, and the TLC Ministries. Prior to losing her eyesight, she was an avid bridge player and reader, and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and learning the computer. After losing her eyesight, she enjoyed listening to books-on-tape.
Her husband, Samuel G. Anderson, whom she married October 10, 1936, died May 3, 1995.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet Conrad of Poland; one sister, Velva Kusnic of Seattle; seven grandchildren, Dan Anderson, Gabrielle Faulkner, Mark Anderson, Rick Fred Chittock, Fred Anderson, Rick Anderson, and Carol Hostetter, with whom she made her home; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Earl S. Anderson and Lloyd D. Anderson.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Fern's life Wednesday, January 17, at 7 p.m. at the Poland United Methodist Church, where friends may call a half hour prior to the service.
Memorial Contributions may be given in Mrs. Anderson's name to the Poland United Methodist Church, MVI Hospice or the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission.

John Anthony Battafarano, 89
CANFIELD There will be services at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Church in Youngstown for John Anthony Battafarano, 89, who passed away Thursday afternoon at Forum Northside Medical Center.
John was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Youngstown the son of Philip and Antoinette Battafarano.
A proud WWII Army veteran, he served in the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, serving in France, Belgium and Italy and in the D-Day invasion on Omaha Beach.
Mr. Battafarano worked as a self-employed bricklayer before retiring in 1984. He was lifelong member of St. Anthony Church and was a member of the Italian American War Veterans.
His wife the former Marie Esther Liguore whom he married April 19, 1947, died Dec. 15, 2006.
He is survived by his two sons, Philip (Renee) Battafarano of Boardman and Jack Battafarano of Canfield; his granddaughter, Danielle Battafarano of Poland; and his sister, Phyllis Battafarano, and a brother, James (Anita) Battafarano, both of Liberty.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam, Albert, Joseph and Nicholas Battafarano.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.

Zora M. Brown, 82
EAST PALESTINE Zora M. Brown, 82, of 419 E. Grant Street, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mrs. Brown was born Feb. 11, 1924 in East Palestine, a daughter of Paul F. and Mamie F. Hawkins Grim Sr., and had lived in this area all of her life.
Zora was a homemaker as well as a bus driver for the East Palestine School District. She had also worked for the former Valu King in East Palestine.
She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, where she was active with the bereavement support group, the Wesley Wed Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Womens Group. She was also a driver for Meals on Wheels in East Palestine.
Her first husband, Raymond Mollenkopf Jr., whom she married March 22, 1942, died April 25, 1976. Her second husband, Jack E. Brown Sr., whom she married Aug. 17, 1980, died Aug. 11, 1993.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sue) Clapsadle of East Palestine; a stepdaughter, Mrs. James (Bonnie) Culp of Columbiana; a son, Gary Mollenkopf of San Diego; two stepsons, Jack E. (Mary Jane) Brown Jr. of Akron and Richard A. (Temple) Brown of Lebanon; three sisters, Helen Grim of East Palestine, Zoe Safreed of Massillon, and Mrs. Paul (Iva) Monte of Negley; a brother, Paul F. (Elsie) Grim Jr. of New Middletown; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Guela Marchak, Beulah Sutherin, Ila Fay Widdowfield and Hazel Brockman; and two brothers, Flavel H. Grim and Robert O. Grim.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don W. Kraps, of the church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home in East Palestine and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

Scott W. Burkey, 30
YOUNGSTOWN Scott W. Burkey, 30, of 341 Beechcrest Ave., formerly of New York City, died Friday at his residence.
Mr. Burkey was born April 8, 1976 in Youngstown, a son of William H. and Sharon D. Bellino Burkey.
He was a 1994 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, and was a singer and songwriter.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his companion, Thomas L. Bradley of Youngstown; three sisters, Darlene Jones of Florida, and Joann Burkey and Shelly Burkey, both of Youngstown; and one brother, Robert Burkey of Youngstown.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Lake Park Cemetery.
Following the services, the family would like to invite friends to return to the Becker Family Center, located across from the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, for a luncheon and fellowship.

Patricia Milburn Cessna, 86
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. Patricia Milburn Cessna, 86, died Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Joseph of the Pines nursing facility in Southern Pines after suffering a five-year battle with progressive dementia.
She was born Dec. 10, 1920 in Excelsior Springs, Mo., a daughter of Col. John Livingstone Milburn and Caroline Milburn. She had lived in the Youngstown area since the l930s and was a 1939 graduate of The Rayen School.
She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, a devoted wife and mother and an avid golfer who won many awards at Tippecanoe Country Club. After her husbands death in 1972, she worked as a sales person for Del Realty for a short time until she moved to a golf course home in Whispering Pines, N.C. where she became assistant golf pro at Lake Surf Country Club in Vass, N.C.
Besides her husband, Ray Bowers Cessna, who was the founder of Cessna Homes, Inc., she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael John Cessna of Pinehurst, N.C. and Ronald (Ranger) Cessna of Whispering Pines.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Cessna (Clyde) Warman of Whispering Pines; a son, Ray (Cito) Bowers (Lynn) Cessna II of Sydney, Australia; two grandchildren, Jyoti (LaToya) Cessna of New York City and Atty. Ariane Cessna of Sydney, Australia; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Michael) Cessna of Pinehurst; and two sisters, Jane Milburn of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Elizabeth (Bette) Toot of Canfield.
Private services will be held at St. Joseph of the Pines.
Final resting place will be in Boardman.

Mary C. Cordy, 77
GIRARD Mary C. Cordy, 77, died at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
She was born April 29, 1929 in Niles, the daughter of Phillip and Mary Spain Scala.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a graduate of the Lewis, Weinberger and Hill School of Cosmetology in Youngstown. She was a self-employed hair dresser for 15 years and a sales associate at the Strouss Department Store in the Eastwood Mall for 25 years.
Mary was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard and enjoyed cooking, especially Italian.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Ermine Cordy, whom she married June 18, 1949; two daughters, Stephanie Rider and husband Thomas of Girard and Gerrianne Costantini and husband Bob of Girard; a brother, Thomas Scala and wife Cassie of Niles; a sister, Lena DeMare of Niles; and three grandchildren, Megan Mintern and husband Chris, Lindsay Rider and Michael Costantini.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Scala; and two sisters, Theresa Nuzzi and Viola Zucco.
Friends may call today from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Joseph Rossi Funeral Home in Niles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, with Fr. James Korda officiating, preceded by a 9 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Leon Carlton Croft, 77
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be Tuesday at 1p.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Leon Carlton Croft, 77, who departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Croft was born April 4, 1929 in Youngstown, the son of Robert and Ella Moon Croft, and was the middle child of 10 siblings and the last surviving member.
Leon was a 1948 graduate of Youngstown East High School and received a scholarship to the Cleveland Institute of Art. Later, he returned home to assist his widowed mother. He joined the labor force and worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube (LTV), retiring in 1979.
He married his beloved wife, the former Alfreda Elaine Carter, Sept. 9, 1960, and on April 13, 1961, they welcomed a son, Monte, who would share their love and affection.
Leon loved art and was proud of his artistic ability, and he enjoyed debating various issues. He was an avid sports fan and spent time on financial affairs.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Alfreda; his son, Monte and wife Barbara Brandon Croft of Queens, N.Y.; his grandson, eight-year-old Chase Ian Croft; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Robbie, Evangeline, Mildred, Juanita and Helen; and four brothers, Rudy, Harold, Warren and Frederick.

John Crowll, 85
BOARDMAN Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen of Hungary Church on Wilson Avenue in Youngstown for John Crowll, who passed away Friday at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Mr. Crowll was born Oct. 2, 1921 in Campbell, son of John and Margaret (Cybak) Crowll.
He retired from the Koppers Co. after 36 years, serving as a chemist and supervisor.
He graduated from Campbell High School in 1939 and attended Youngstown State University, where he received a degree in chemistry.
A veteran of WWII, Mr. Crowll made the crossing on the Queen Mary and arrived D-day plus 18 and was awarded four bronze stars as well as various campaign medals. He served at the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Church, where he was a member of the silver and gold club. Mr. Crowll supported several charities.
His wife, Irene Nagy, whom he married Jan. 5, 1948, is deceased, as is his sister, Ann Duchek of Campbell.
He leaves two sons, Bryan Crowll of Poland and John Lee Crowll of Virginia; his daughter, Elizabeth Crowll-Rodriguez, formerly a resident of New Mexico, had resided with him for the last several years.

Vincent Giampetro Jr. 52
YOUNGSTOWN Vincent Giampetro Jr., 52, passed away Friday at his residence.
He was born Aug. 5, 1954 in Youngstown, son of Vincent Giampetro and Eleanor Louise (Minnio) Giampetro.
Mr. Giampetro worked for the Mahoning County Sanitation Dept. for 23 years. He was a bocce player, enjoyed football and was a Steelers fan.
Family includes his mother; his wife, Marcia of Youngstown; his son, Richard Cummings of Youngstown; a brother, Robert Giampetro of Youngstown; three sisters, Joyce (Nick) Ballabon of Youngstown, Janice Renda of Youngstown and Jane Planton of Youngstown; and three grandchildren, Vincent, Alex and Jayden Cummings, who affectionately called him Papa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Giampetro.
There will be calling hours Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at the Fabrizio Funeral home, 619 E. Indianola Ave. in Youngstown.

Elizabeth Hughey, 86
YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church for Mrs. Elizabeth Hughey, 86, who departed this life Thursday at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Mrs. Hughey was born Aug. 27, 1920 in Talbottom, Ga., a daughter of Solomon and Nellie Huff Giddens, and came to the Valley many years ago.
Mrs. Hughey was formerly employed as a secretary for the Mammoth Life Insurance Co.; Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a clerk-typist for the Youngstown Main Library. She was also an aide for her husband, Councilman Richard Hughey, and was appointed to fill his term upon his death in 1986. She was the first woman to serve on City Council in the City of Youngstown.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served in the Willing Workers Ministry. She was a devoted family caregiver, and she loved to travel.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Wylene (Luther) Counts of Austintown; a brother, Edgar Giddens of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Terri (Curtis) Robinson of Rootstown, and Shari Luckey of Youngstown; three great-grandchildren, Summer W. Luckey of Youngstown, Morgan E. and Sydne' D. Robinson of Rootstown, OH; two special brothers- in-law, James (Eleanor) Hughey and Otto (Ethel) Hughey, both of Youngstown; and a host of loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William L. Giddens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be in Tod Homestead Cemetery.

Robert R. Jonesy Jones, 57
MINERAL RIDGE Robert R. Jonesy Jones, 57, of Mineral Ridge, died Friday, January 12, at Hospice House in Youngstown.
Mr. Jones was born July 25, 1949 in Youngstown, a son of Myron S. and Dorothy Gray Jones. He was employed by WCI Steel Co. in Youngstown as a bundler for 15 years. A graduate of Girard High School in 1967, he was a member of the Steelworkers Union and was an avid Browns and Indians fan.
Besides his mother of Austintown, he is survived by his wife, Anne M. Kardas Jones, whom he married August 7, 1976; twin daughters, Margaret E. and Megan A. Jones, both of Petersburg; and a sister, Ruth Clinton of Girard; five nephews; three great-nephews; one great-niece; and one great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond W. Jones; and nephew, Russell Clinton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Church in Mineral Ridge, preceded by prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m.
William C. Kemble, 48
WARREN There will be a memorial mass of the resurrection Monday January 15 at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with celebrant Fr. Donald E. King, for William C. Kemble, 48, of 255 Genesee Ave. NE, who passed away Thursday.
William C. Kemble was born March 9, 1958 in Youngstown to Charles B. and Dorothy OBrien Kemble.
William was a 1976 graduate of Liberty High School, received an associates degree from YSU in respiratory therapy and had been a respiratory therapist at Northside Hospital and Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Survivors include four children, Timothy, Emily, Christopher and Eric Kemble, all of Howland; a sister, Mary Kathleen (Jim) Higham of Austintown; a nephew, Scott (Tina) Hudack of Liberty; a niece, Erica (Troy) Goodwin of Toledo; great-nieces and nephews; and his partner, Mark Smith of Warren.
His parents and two brothers. James and Charles Kemble, preceded him in death.
Calling hours will be at the Blessed Sacrament Church one hour prior to services. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Louis Kennedy, Jr., 78
YOUNGSTOWN -Louis Kennedy, Jr.,78, died peacefully with his family by his side on Jan. 12 at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a short illness.
Louis was born March 21, 1928, in Campbell, a son of the late Louis (Candido) and Carmella (Mussone) Kennedy.
He graduated from Memorial High School in 1947, and enlisted in the Air Force in 1948. He served his country for 5 1/2 years during the Korean Conflict. He was in the Strategic Air Command and was part of Operation Ivy, which tested the first hydrogen bomb at Eniwetok.
He worked in the payroll department of the Youngstown Sheet & Tube LTV for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that time, he worked as a buyer and department manager at Stambaugh-Thompson Co.
Louis was a member of the VFW Post No. 7538. He was a very kind and happy person who loved to go on cruises with his family. He was an avid collector.
He is survived by his wife, Tula Santulis, whom he married Dec. 1, 1957; and five children, Louis (Leah Kish) Kennedy, III, and John F. (Sue) Kennedy both of Youngstown; and Anita (George) Long of Cranberry Twp., Pa., Christina Russo and Carmel K. (Brad) Steinberg both of Boardman; his sister, Rose Stosic of Fla.; five grandchildren, Jessica, Angela and Thomas Long, Athena Russo and Jordan Steinberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gene and Tony; and his sisters, Theresa Benvenuto, Mary Fitch and Ruth O'Brien.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home in Struthers, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m.
There will also be visitation from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Ave. in Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Katherine Kay Makris, 81
WARREN There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, with Fr. Stylianos Menis officiating, for Katherine Kay Makris, 81, who passed away Wednesday afternoon at The Cleveland Clinic from coronary heart disease.
Kay was born Feb. 24, 1925 in Youngstown to Alex and Argiro Tsouris Platas.
She was a 1943 graduate of The Rayen School and came to Warren in 1946. She had been co-owner and operator of Four Lane Grocery in Leavittsburg for 10 years. She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where she taught Sunday school for 15 years.
She was also a member of the Philoptochos Society, the Senior Citizens Club, the Daughters of Penelope and the Icarian Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include her husband, George N. Makris, whom she married Oct. 13, 1946; two daughters, Irene (Wilbur) Hall of Warren and Dena Kay (Anthony) Manfredi of Howland; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Beth (Vlad) Perlov of Cortland and Nicholas and Cameron Manfredi, both of Howland; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Perlov.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George and Nicholas Platas.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, where a Trisagion memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Wilma Jean (Layne) Pacalo
TULSA, OKLA. Wilma Jean (Layne) Pacalo passed away Jan. 6.
She was born Aug. 21, 1933 in Clarkston, Va., the daughter of James M. and Lottie M. Layne.
She was the mother of five children, Beverly, Robert, Jeff, Timothy and Lorrie.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Vale and Lorrie Howley; a son, Jeffery Gartner; grandchildren, Robert Hegenbart, Heidi Humphreys, Joshua R.A. Vale, Jonathan M.A. Vale, Joshua, Robert and Jack Gartner, Rebecca Feliciano, Sarah Howley, Frank Howley and Joseph Howley; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She will be especially missed by her loving companion and best friend, George Parrett, and special niece, Linda Badila.
David Earl Percival Jr.
LANCASTER, CALIF. David Earl Percival Jr. passed away Dec. 22, 2006.
He was born May 29, 1917 in Youngstown.
David attended The Ohio State University and joined the U.S. Navy in September of 1942. He worked for General Fire Proofing in Youngstown, and retired from Candid Wedding Photography in Phoenix.
He is survived by two sons, David James Percival of Huntsville, Ala. and Thomas Earl Percival of California City, Calif. and a sister, Mary Lou (Percival) Robinson of Youngstown.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Earl Percival Sr. and his mother, Hanna (Platts) Percival and a brother, Henry Percival.
Interment was at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
Victor J. Perry Jr., 52
NILES Victor J. Perry Jr., 52, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Italy July 20, 1954, the son of the late Victor J. and Pauline (Gontkovsky) Perry.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and had been employed for more than 25 years by Foty Landscaping.
He is survived by his brother, Anthony Perry of Girard; his aunt, Mary Rassega of Warren; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard, where friends may call one hour before the service.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Maria Taddeo Rasile, 95
HUBBARD Maria Taddeo Rasile, 95, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Greenbriar Health Center.
She was born Feb. 3, 1911 in Menturno, Italy, a daughter of Alexander and Lucia Conte, and came to this country, settling in Hubbard in 1950.
A homemaker, Mrs. Rasile worked for the Weatherbee Coat Co. for nine years and for the Roosevelt School in Hubbard for five years. She was a member of St. Patrick Church for 57 years, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Adua Lodge.
Maria enjoyed baking and cooking and had her own garden until she was in her mid 80s.
Her first husband, Donato Taddeo, whom she married in 1935, died in 1943. Her second husband, John Rasile, whom she married in 1950, died in 1968.
She leaves a son, Carmen (Mary Jane) Taddeo of Boardman; a daughter, Frances DelSignore of Boardman; five grandchildren, Donna (Michael) Lee of Virginia, Robert (Phyllis) Hahn of Hartford, Maria (Paul) Kilar of Hubbard, David Taddeo of Boardman and Brian (Karen) DelSignore of Poland; eight great-grandchildren, Victoria, Melissa and Michaela Lee, Dallas Hahn, Danielle and Steven Kilar, and Blake and Alec DelSignore.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donatina Taddeo; one brother and three sisters.

Gerald E. Roth, 66
LIBERTY TWP. Gerald E. Roth, 66, of Liberty Township, died Friday, Jan. 12 at Briarfield at the Ridge.
Jerry was born Nov. 17, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Ora Roth.
He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local #377, having worked for Pascarelli Bros., Feldman Bros and Santisis Produce. A member of Church Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty Township, and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ann Colucci Kachmer, whom he married March 22, 2003; a son, Jerry E. (fiancee Melia Denman) Roth Jr., of Cortland; a daughter, Robin D. (Ed) Williams of Melissa, Texas; a stepdaughter, Samantha Colucci of Bessemer, Pa.; two grandchildren, Edward R. Williams III of Ft. Worth, Texas and Caitlin K. Williams of Melissa,; one great-grandson, Edward S. Williams of Ft. Worth; and a brother, Ronald White of New Castle, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Hazel Dee Dunkle Roth; a brother, Samuel J. Roth; and a granddaughter, Heather N. Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family wishes that material contributions be made to the church memorial fund. Entombment will be at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
Anna M. Strabala, 89
POLAND - Services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church for Anna M. Strabala, 89, who passed away Friday evening at her home.
Anna was born March 17, 1917, in Pittsburgh; the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Mulholland Wilson.
She had been a parochial school teacher for almost 30 years, teaching at St. Charles, St. Patrick, and Holy Family. She had received her bachelors degree from Youngstown State University, was named in Who's Who in American Teachers, and in 1974 and in 1981 was named teacher of the year by the Catholic Woman's Association.
She enjoyed bowling and had served as the treasurer of her bowling league for over 30 years. She had been a charter member of Holy Family Church, attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and was a former member of the Poland Knights of Columbus KC ettes.
Her husband, Clinton P. Strabala, whom she married July 14, 1941, died October 20, 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Harry Strabala, with whom she made her home, and Lawrence W. Strabala of Sharon, Pa.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Henerfo, who raised from childhood; and a sister, Madeline Borts.
Friends may call Monday for one half hour prior to services at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.

Regina M. (Mraulak) Yardis, 82
BESSEMER, PA. Regina M. (Mraulak) Yardis, 82, passed away peacefully at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
She was born Friday, Aug. 22, 1924 in New Castle, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Gradisnik) Mraulak Sr.
Regina was the wife the late Walter J. Yardas, whom she married Aug. 22, 1946.
She had attended Christ the King Parish St. Anthony Church.
A devoted homemaker, mother and friend, she will be sadly missed by her son, Gary (Karen) Yardas of Bessemer; a brother Joseph Mraulak of Florida; several nephews and one niece.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Mroz.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King St. Anthony.
Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery in Bessemer.
Margaret Mary Zena, 89
CANFIELD Private services were held at the Fabrizio Funeral Home, 619 E. Indianola Ave. in Youngstown for Margaret Mary Zena, 89, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
She was born March 18, 1917 in Wilberton, Okla., a daughter of the late Samuel Fabrizio and Lena (Massaro) Fabrizio.
She was a supervisor in merchandising at the W.T. Grant Co.
She is survived by a son, Thomas and Elizabeth Zena of Canfield and four grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Zena, whom she married June 9, 1938; two brothers, Albert Fabrizio and Rev. Henry E. Fabrizio; and a sister, Lauretta De Marinis.
