Virginia E. Albrecht, 89

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – Virginia E. Albrecht, 89, died Tuesday at Liberty Health Care Center.

Ms. Albrecht was born Feb. 21, 1917 in Youngstown to the late Frank and Blanche Haney McMullen.

She was a member of the Churchill Methodist Church and was a worker for the board of elections for more than 25 years. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star Miriam Chapter No. 278 of Youngstown, Clotilda Club and the Nor-Hill Garden Club. She enjoyed flower arranging, crafts and cards. She enjoyed babysitting many years for many families in the area.

She is survived by her two children, Carol (Patrick) Pinney of Liberty Township and Fred (Connie) Albrecht of Henderson Nev.; a brother, Edwin McMullen of Warren; two grandchildren, Laura Pinney and Michelle Castro; and a great-grandson, Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick C., whom she married in 1939, and who died in 1966, and a sister, Thelma Ohmer.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Churchill Methodist Church, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Material contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.

Arrangements are being handled by the Blackstone Funeral Home.

Internment will be at Forest Lawn.

Freddie Lee Butler-Hasley, 70

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Ministries International for Mrs. Freddie Lee Butler-Hasley, 70, who departed this life Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mrs. Hasley was born Feb. 4, 1936 in Warren, a daughter of Charles W. and Tena Mae Green Butler.

She was a member of the church and was a homemaker.

She leaves to cherish her memory seven daughters, Virginia High, Victoria Hendrix, Beverly Hasley, Felicia Mullins and Derise Hasley all of Youngstown, Janet Butler of Akron and April (Michael) Evans of Warren; five sons, Charles Butler, Bruce Hasley, Bernard Hasley and Isaac Hasley all of Youngstown, and Nathaniel Hasley of Denver; four brothers, Samuel (Marilyn) Floyd of Dayton, Raymond (Joyce) Butler of Warren, George (Linda) Butler of Indianapolis and Darrell Butler of Columbus; two sisters, Millie Vaughn and Jeannie Butler, both of Warren; 40 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandmothers, Vancie Gilbert Butler and Fannie Watt; a brother, Robert Butler; and grandsons, Lorenzo A. Black and Gary Hasley.

Kenneth A. Clifton, 89

HUBBARD – There will be services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Kenneth A. Clifton, 89, of Mt. Everett Road, who passed away Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Kenneth was born Aug. 15, 1917 in Hubbard, the son of William and Hannah Wells Clifton, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was 1936 graduate of Hubbard High School and a 1943 graduate of Sterling College in Sterling, Kan.

He was a power and fuel engineer at U.S. Steel Products in McDonald for 39 years, retiring in 1979. He was a 72-year member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder, a trustee, chairman of the congregation and Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during WWII and a 61-year member of Wick Masonic Lodge (St. Albuns).

He was a scout master for Troop No. 85 of Liberty, district chairperson for the Western Reserve Council and also received the Silver Beaver Award and the Wood Badge. He was also the commissioner of Troop No. 42 in Liberty. He was a member of the Western Reserve Woodcarvers, Round Table Woodcarvers, Liberty Senior Citizens, Saturday Night Group and Wagon Wheel Trailer Club.

He leaves his wife, the former Wilda C. Berndt, whom he married July 26, 1947; three sons, Russ Clifton of Hubbard, Ron Clifton of Boardman and Timothy Clifton of Struthers; two daughters, Lynn (Michael) Vittorio of Boardman and Laurie (Charles) Mitchell of Maumee; two brothers, Morgan Clifton of Liberty and David Clifton of Yuma, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel, James and Christopher; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John Clifton, Noble Clifton, William Clifton and Robert Clifton; and four sisters, Mable O’Rourke, Gladys Stegman, Rachel McClelland and Mary Shaffer.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Friday.

Randy G. Cox, 49

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home for Randy G. Cox, 49, who departed this life Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1957 in Youngstown, a son of William and Margaret Raines Cox.

Mr. Cox had worked for Monroe Steel in Struthers. He was a three-year letterman for The Rayen School varsity football and was a 1976 graduate. He also graduated from the New Castle School of Trades as a welder and was a licensed boiler technician with the U.S. Navy.

He leaves his parents of Youngstown; his siblings, Gary J. (Victoria) Cox of Columbus, Sherry Cox Calloway of Warren and Belinda (Willie) Oliver and John (Maritza) Cox, both of Youngstown; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Harry S. Creighton, 88

BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church for Harry S. Creighton, 88, who passed away Tuesday morning at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers.

Harry was born March 16, 1918 in Bellaire, the son of Harry and Ella Creighton.

He was a laborer at LTV (formerly Republic) Steel in Youngstown and was a member of the Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church.

Besides his wife, the former Katheryn Callison, whom he married Feb. 9, 1946, he leaves six children, Harry Creighton of North Lima, Kay and her husband Dennis Sedlacko of Hartville, James and his wife Cheryl Creighton of North Jackson, Shirley and her husband Frank Miranda of Salem, Jean and her husband Leon Friend of Wellsville and William and his wife Tammy Creighton of Struthers; two sisters, Jane Dahman of Austintown and Sarah Lutz of New Wilmington Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Creighton; and two sisters, Mae Girts and Laura Schnell.

Madeline V. Durkin, 96

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Kubina Yuhasz Funeral Home, Boardman Chapel, 5925 Market St., and at 10 a.m. at Saint Christine Church for Madeline V. Durkin, 96, who died Tuesday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center after a short illness.

Mrs. Durkin was born July 16, 1910 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Anna Tybor Mika.

A lifelong resident of Youngstown, she attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and was in the first graduating class at East High School.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Schwebel’s Baking Co., Firestone Tire, Republic Rubber and the Drivers Union.

She was a member of the Saint Christine Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, George C. Durkin, whom she married June 10, 1950; two sons, George J. of Youngstown and Edward J. (Kathy) of Parma; and many nieces and nephews in this area.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Andrew Mika, Stanley Mika, Atty. Felix Mika, Joseph Mika, John Mika and Edward Mika; and four sisters, Mary Holden, Julia Blaski, Stella Stepien and Anna Andre.

Mary Anne Eberhart, 91

DAYTON – Mary Anne Eberhart, 91, formerly of Youngstown, passed away Jan. 15, at Oakwood Sunrise Senior Assisted Living, where she had been a very active resident for five years.

Mary Anne was born Jan. 6, 1916 in Portsmouth, the daughter of John and Barbara Kovacic Baer.

She was employed for many years by Truscon Steel and Trailmobile Corporation as a bookkeeper/accountant. She was a long time member of Saint Charles Catholic Church, 7345 Westview Drive in Boardman.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Roger) Williams of Oakwood; three grandchildren, Jeaneen (John) Grismer of Dayton, Barbara (Kenneth) Mellenbruch of Minneapolis and Daniel (Sarah) Williams of Dayton; and five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Aimee and Nicholas Mellenbruch, Kathryn Grismer and Alexander Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Daniel Frederick Eberhart, and her daughter, Nancy Jean Eberhart.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Saint Charles Catholic Church where viewing will be at the church gathering space from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

There will be a service following the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.

Verna M. Ellis Gething, 80

STRUTHERS – Verna M. Ellis Gething, 80, of Maplecrest Nursing home, died Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Verna was born April 24, 1926 in Struthers, a daughter of E.J. “Jack” and Ellen LaForce Ellis. She was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1944 graduate of Struthers High School where she was class officer, served on the reunion committee and was a member of the National Thespian Dramatic Honor Society. This led to a career on stage with the Youngstown Playhouse and the Piper Players in New York City and their traveling troupe.

Verna was a telephone operator for several companies as well as holding several secretarial positions. She was a Worthy Matron of Corem Chapter No. 454 O.E.S. in 1964 and Deputy Grand Matron of District 2 of Ohio in 1968. She was instrumental in organizing Lamplight Chapter No. 582 O.E.S. in Poland. She was a founding member of the former Fairview Immanuel Baptist Church in Youngstown.

She leaves a sister, Ruby Rupe Smith of Austintown; two brothers, Glenn Ellis of Poland and Jack Ellis of Cornelia, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Ellis Landy who died Jan. 10 of this year.

There will be funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where friends may call from noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Jerome C. Hightower, M.D., 60

HOWARD – Jerome C. Hightower, MD, 60, departed this life Jan. 14 at Knox County Community Hospital.

This loving husband, father, and grandfather, was born Jan. 21, 1946 in Youngstown, the son of Bossie John and Willa Mae Lee Hightower.

He graduated from North High School in 1964 and was president of his class, quarterback on the football team and captain of the basketball team. He then attended Youngstown State University as a pre-med major with a minor in ROTC and received his bachelors degree in 1968.

Jerome was a ROTC Commission 2nd Lieutenant in the Army and served for a short period in San Antonio. He was a member of Persian Rifles and was honorably discharged from the Army.

From 1968 to 1973, he worked in management at Ohio Bell in Akron. After being admitted to medical school, he attended the Ohio State University School of Medicine from 1973 to 1976.

Jerome received his medical degree in 1976 with commendations in pediatrics. He did his residency at The Cleveland Clinic 1976 to 1978 and Youngstown Hospital Association in 1979. He served as chief resident and completed his general surgery residency 1979 to 1981. Upon completion of medical school, he returned to his hometown and started a private practice in Youngstown 1981 to 1997. He had extensive advance trauma training and was co-owner and medical director for the Boardman Medi Center. He served as a dedicated emergency room physician from 1981 to 2006 and worked for 10 years at Knox Community Hospital

In 2006, he opened Buckeye Vein Therapy in Mt. Vernon. He served on the Family Services Mental Health Board and as president of Youngstown Area Urban League. He made a bid for Youngstown City School Board in 1986 and was narrowly defeated. He was a Clinical Instructor, served on the Admissions Committee and taught several years for MEDCAMP at NEOUCOM.

He was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. where he served two terms as bacillus. He also received an Elks award. He was a member of Phillips Chapel CME Church and served on the Steward Board. He served as team physician for the Steel Valley Chargers and South High School. He also served as consultant for Battle Catz Entertainment and was recently honored at the 100 Black Men Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bossie J. and Willa M. Hightower; his first wife and mother of his children, Patricia Clark Hightower; and his brothers, Kenneth and Levern H. Hightower.

Leaving to treasure his memory are his wife, Sherri Smithhisler of Danville; daughters, Jeannette Marie (John) Perry of Columbus, Charlene L. (Thomas) Dienes of Wilson, N.C., and Denise M. (Marvin Rushton II) Hightower of Youngstown; stepdaughters, She’ Skaggs and Hali Smithhisler, both of Danville; two brothers, John J. (Sylvia) Hightower Sr. and Leonard A. Hightower Sr., both of Youngstown; four sisters, Geraldine Green of Houston and Genolia K. Brooks, Doris J. (Paul) Jackson and Sandra L. Abrams, all of Youngstown; his former wife and stepmother to his children, Evelyn J. Hightower of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Jocelyn Powell, Patricia M., Aaron T. and Curtis L. Fitzgerald, Devin Rushton and Jacob Dienes; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Phillips Chapel CME Church, where memorial services will be held by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Samuel Ierace, 78

LIBERTY – Samuel Ierace, 78, died Tuesday at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1928 in Youngstown, the son of the late Dominic and Mary (Raymond) Ierace.

He was a member of St. Rose Parish in Girard. He worked at Brainard Rivet Company in Girard as a maintenance machinist for 37 years, retiring in 1990, and owned Sam’s Imported Foods for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Marie (Marconi) Ierace, whom he married June 11, 1949; a daughter, Paulette Ierace Chearno of Liberty; three brothers, Fred Yerrace of Poland, Mike Ierace of Youngstown and Frank (Peggy) Yerrace of Struthers; two grandsons, Justin Chearno and his fiance Stacy Fisher of New York City, and Brian Chearno of Liberty; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Pauline Franklin of Girard, and sister-in-law, Margaret Brown of Austintown.

He was also survived by his nieces, Paula Franklin, Margie Stephenson, Charlotte Miller, Donna Casey, Tina Timko, Georgann Donadee, Lori Yerrace, and Lisa Yerrace; nephews, Richard Franklin, James Pedro, David Pedro and Frank Yerrace; several great-nephews and great-nieces; and a special friend of the family, John Seeco.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Nick (Wolf) Yerrace; a sister, Maria Gourlas; a niece, Betsy Rogers; and a great-nephew, Matthew Franklin.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose Church at 11 a.m. Saturday with prayers at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Girard City Cemetery in Girard.

Ann H. Jackson

WARREN – Ann H. Jackson passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Ann was born Dec. 29, 1909 in Nashville, Tenn., a daughter of the late Sam and Mary McGuire.

She was a homemaker and Southern Baptist faith. Ann married Willie B. Jackson in the 1940s and he died in 1979.

Ann leaves three daughters, Elizabeth DiTunno of Warren, Doris Tascione of Florida and Jean Chiarnello of Liberty; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Mary Ann Chamberlin and Sam Eastes; three sisters; and a brother.

There will be a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, with calling hours from 1 to 2 p.m. at McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.

Burial is at Girard City Cemetery.


Helen Macella, 88

LOWELLVILLE – Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Kirila Funeral Home, Struthers and 10 a.m. at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Campbell for Helen Macella, 88, who passed away from a short illness early Wednesday morning.

Helen will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends.

She was born March 18, 1918 in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of Peter and Helen (Halufka) Vargulich.

Helen was employed for Strouss’ Department Store, JoAnn Fabric’s, and Singers as a saleswoman along with being a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and was a former member of the Holy Rosary Society at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

Helen was an excellent baker, but her true talent was in being a seamstress.

Her husband, Michael W. Macella, whom she married Oct. 31, 1937, died Oct. 11, 1980.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Ronald (Wanda) Macella, with whom she made her home; two daughters, Geraldine Bianchi of Streetsboro and Darlene (Walter) Flickinger of Struthers; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, George (Alice) Vargulich and Peter (Lillian) Vargulich; and a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Butko.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers John and Chuck Vargulich, and a sister Mary Kyper.

Edith McFall, 76

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman for Edith McFall, 76, who died Wednesday morning at her residence, surrounded by family.

She was born Sept. 7, 1930 in DuBois, Pa., a daughter of Paul and Phoebe Deutch Barker, and was an area resident since childhood.

Mrs. McFall was a graduate of Chaney High School and a member of the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Edith retired from GBS Computers.

Her husband of 31 years, Carroll “Shadow” McFall, died in May of 1999.

She leaves a son, Ken “Chip” Boldt Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls; five daughters, Debi Derzis of Baton Rouge, La., Pamela Newland of Youngstown, Karen Lambeth of Knoxville, Tenn., Kelly Forne of Erie, Pa., and Jill Mondell of Salem; a sister, Shirley Guerrerio of Youngstown; a brother, Ernest Barker of Austintown; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Wilma Ruth Miller, 92

GIRARD – Wilma Ruth Miller, 92, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Briarfield at the Ridge.

Wilma was born Oct. 30, 1914 in East Clairdon to the late Harris and Lulu Shank Coe.

She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She worked for Cekuta Bros. in Girard and also for Loblaws in Youngstown.

Her husband, Halley Corwin Miller, whom she married Jan. 11, 1930, died June of 1974,

She is survived by her two children, Alan (Kathy) Miller of Liberty Township and Margo (Rev. Harold) Draa of Weirton, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Coe.

There will be services Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home where visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Girard City Cemetery.


Mary Louise Ramsey, 83

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Mary Louise Ramsey, 83, who passed away at Briarfield at Ashley Circle.

She was born March 11, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late David J. and Mary Skidmore Richards.

Mary is survived by her husband, Howard B. Ramsey, whom she married Sept. 29, 1940; four children, Ronald (Elizabeth) Ramsey of Beloit, Patricia (Lee) Lewis, Sharon Richards, and Brian (Kim) Ramsey, all of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren, Tricia (John) Severino, Laura (Jonathan) Stankorb, Rhonda (Ron) Reed, Melissa (Dean) Ostroff, Mark (Donna) Morell, Michael S. Morell, Dawn (Jason) Shirey, Rochelle (Tod) Morelli, Clifford Colwell Jr., Taylor Richards, Melanie Richards, Rob (Sherry) Ramsey, Jeff Ramsey, and Tim (Angela) Ramsey; 18 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Grittie.

Evelyn M. Roudebush, 92

SEBRING, FLA. – Evelyn M. Roudebush, 92, died Jan. 16, in Sebring.

She was born Aug. 11, 1914 in Carrollton to Elmer and Sara (Sheen) Gould and was a resident of Sebring since 1989, coming from Canfield.

A homemaker, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sebring and the Sun N’ Lake Country Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Anderson of Sebring; a son, Phillip Roudebush of Canfield; two brothers, Carl D. Gould of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Pete Gould of New Port Richey, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Peer officiating.

Margaret E. “Maggie” Sabatos, 93

YOUNGSTOWN – Margaret E. Sabatos, 93, formerly of Cabot Street, passed away early Wednesday morning at Autumn Hill Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Margaret was born June 13, 1913 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Dudas Sabatos, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, the late Peter Polando.

She was a lifelong area resident and worked for the City of Youngstown as a custodian for 20 years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, she worked as a welder at Youngstown Steel Door and as an air raid warden during WWII.

She was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church and had been a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Health Center and The Ronald McDonald House.

Maggie leaves several nieces and nephews, including her niece and care giver, Carolyn A. Creighton of Austintown.

A brother, John Sabatos; three sisters, Mary McKinstrey, Ann Bogoeff, and Helen Gedra; two half brothers, Peter and Paul Polando; and a half sister, Eve Arbie; are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church.

Gertrude Margaret Marie Bray Susko, 78

SHARON, PA. – A memorial service will be held at a later date with the time and place to be announced for Gertrude Margaret Marie Bray Susko, 78, of Nugent Convalescent Home, formerly of the Patagonia area of Hermitage, Pa., who passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 14, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness.

She was born on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1928 in New York City, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Watson Bray

A homemaker, Mrs. Susko was a long time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sharon and belonged to their Women’s Bible Club.

She leaves her two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Yourema and her husband Walter J. of Hermitage and Gloria Susko of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Walter S. Yourema and Jessica Church and her husband Ronnie of Fairfax, Va.; a sister, Lorraine McNeil of Providence R.I.; and Joseph Bray of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Her parents and a sister, Jenny Bray, preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church Building Fund, 226 West State St. Sharon, PA 16146.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no calling hours.

Rev. Willie O. Walls-Fleming, 58

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Metropolitan Baptist Church for Rev. Willie O. Walls-Fleming, 58, who departed this life Sunday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

He was born Aug. 27, 1949 in Gary, Ind., a son of Willie and Thelma Tate Walls.

Rev. Fleming worked at U.S. Steel, McDonald Works. He was a former member and associate minister of the church and served in its food ministry.

He leaves his mother, Thelma Allen of Youngstown; his father and stepmother, Willie and Laura Walls of Verona, Miss.; two daughters, Michele L. Parish of Columbus and Lisa L. Manigault of Youngstown; a son, De'Mon T. Parish of Youngstown; siblings, Rev. Wallace Fleming of Akron, Limmie R. Walls of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Rev. Sylvia L. Jennings, Carl S. Jennings, Michael E. Jennings and Johnnie M. Waters, all of Youngstown; his companion, Lynn Johnson of Youngstown; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Laura McIntosh Walls and Rev. W.L. and Mattie Thompson Washington.

Viewing will be from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home.

Rose M. Zaklukiewicz, 92

POLAND – Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Kubina Yuhasz Funeral Home, 2403 South Ave., and at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Stanislaus Church for Rose M. Zaklukiewicz (Zack), 92 who died Wednesday at Shepherd of the Valley.

Mrs. Zaklukiewicz was born July 5, 1914 in Youngstown a daughter of Jacob and Rose Filipiak (Phillips) Grzazdziel (Grisdale).

Rose enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, following the Cleveland Indians and especially spending time with all of her grandchildren who she loved so very much. She was a very giving person who made friends easily.

Rose was a member of the Pleasant Timers, the Senior Citizens Groups at St. Dominic, St. Charles and St Stanislaus. She was also a member of St. Stanislaus Church and its Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.

Her husband, Carl, whom she married Nov. 23, 1936, died Sept. 23, 1960.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann (Tony) Blanch of Poland, and three grandchildren, Rick, Nick (Lucinda) and Debbie Blanch.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her loving grandson Robert “Robbie” Blanch, Md., her brother Carl Grisdale and sisters Nellie Grzazdziel, Helen Romanick, Mary Grusdes, Ann Nagy and Lillian Lipinski.

Friends may call Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will hold a prayer service Friday at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
