Joseph Andrevich, 87
STRUTHERS Joseph Andrevich, formerly a long-time resident of Lowellville, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Saturday evening, June 14 at the Hospice House from a reaction to medication following surgery.
Joseph was born August 20, 1920 in Lowellville, the son of Frank and Mary Kuharich Andrevich.
He was retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube/LTV, having 36 years of service.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and the Lowellville Senior Citizens.
Joseph served his country during WWII as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945.
Joseph enjoyed spending time with four grandchildren. He also enjoyed polka music, beer in a fish bowl, lamb roasts and concerts in the park.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Theresa Dolly; his daughter, Diane (John) Ross of Lordstown; and two sons, Joseph (Bonnie) Andrevich of Denver and Robert of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Theresa, John, Jamie, and Callie; and loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Andervich, Bertha Thomas, and Mary J. Tanzabel; and two brothers Anthony and Frank Andervich.
Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 18 at the Rossi Lellio Funeral Home, 151 Second Street, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, both in Lowellville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 at the funeral home.

Mildred Ann Millie Brungardt, 75
YOUNGSTOWN - Mildred Ann Millie Brungardt, 75, passed away early Saturday evening, June 14, 2008, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.
Mildred was born May 8, 1933 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Andrew R. and Suzanna Ondrusko Simko, was a lifelong area resident and a 1951 graduate of Chaney High School.
She was a homemaker and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the church choir and Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Womens Lutheran Missionary League.
Millie greatly enjoyed bowling, crafts and flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Brungardt leaves her husband of 55 years, Eugene Brungardt, whom she married April 11, 1953; two daughters, Diana (Rudy) Wiesner of Canfield and Carol (William) Mound of Austintown; and four grandchildren, Laura and Elizabeth Wiesner, and Michael and Jennifer Mound.
A son, Kenneth Brungardt, and a sister, Ruth Moore, are deceased.

Anne Chapel, 87
YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., for Mrs. Anne Chapel, 87, who entered into rest Thursday evening at Hampton Woods Nursing Home.
Anne was born Feb. 13, 1921 in Campbell, the daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara (Chizmarik) Magura.
During WWII, she was an electric welder at Truscon Steel, welding on tank treads and landing barges.
She retired in 1984 from Woodside Receiving Hospital after 25 years as a Housekeeping Supervisor.
Anne was a lifelong member at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as a trustee. She was also a member of the Ladies Altar Guild and the United Lutheran Society, Branch 39.
The passion in Anne's life was her family, grandchildren and gardening.
Her husband, Michael Chapel, whom she married June 8, 1946, passed away May 11, 1984.
Anne will be sadly missed by many, including her sons, Michael A. (Phyllis) of Boardman and Kenneth J. (Debra) of Youngstown; four grandsons, Scott M. Chapel of Cincinnati, Matthew (Karen) Chapel of Boardman, Kenneth and Kevin Chapel both of Youngstown; and a step-grandson, Michael Lambert of Maryland. She also leaves two great-grandsons, Ethan and Aiden Chapel of Cincinnati.
Besides her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Macres; and four brothers, Andrew, Michael, John and Paul Magura.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Road, and on Thursday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Kenna Eugene Dodrill, 89
WARREN Kenna Eugene. Dodrill, 89, died Friday morning, June 13, 2008 at his residence.
Born July 7, 1918 in Blue Springs,W.Va., he was the son of Chambers Wesley and Mintie Olive (Conrad) Dodrill. Before moving his family to the Warren area in 1959, Kenna worked outside the coal mines of Hickory Lake, W.Va. He retired in 1983 from the Warren General Refractory, where he worked for 27 years.
Kenna attended the Bristolville Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and attending flea markets. He was known to be a jack of all trades and most recently enjoyed fixing lawn mower motors.
Kenna was preceded in death in September of 2005 by his loving wife, Lina Eva (McCloud) Dodrill, whom he married April 21, 1947 in Elkins W.Va. Together they shared 58 years of marriage.
He will be dearly missed by his six children, Andrew Gimmel of Newton Falls, Cameron Dodrill of Warren, Betty (Denny) Guss of Maryland, C. Woody (Yvonne) Dodrill of Howland Township, Dorothy (David) Lash of Ravenna, and the Rev. Kenneth L. (Sandra) Dodrill of Leavittsburg; 15 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Ivan Dodrill of Monterville, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Hattie Ann (McCloud) Dodrill; four grandchildren; and five brothers.
The family will receive guests Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel.
Ferlie Yates will conduct a funeral service Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be held in the Pine Knoll Cemetery, Warren Township.

James F. Gettings Sr., 73
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP James F. Gettings Sr., 73, died Friday June 13, 2008 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
James was born Jan. 31, 1935 in Youngstown, a son of the late James and Florence Gilchrist Gettings.
He retired after 35 years as a head laborer for the B&O Railroad Station in Youngstown. Jim was also a member of the Girard Eagles Aerie No. 2172 of Girard and enjoyed fishing and shopping at the area flea markets. He also had been in the Army Reserve.
Jim is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Shaver, whom he married April 8, 1995; his children, James F. (Julie) Gettings Jr. of Campbell, Leon V. (Paulette) Gettings of Canfield, John F.(Janie) Gettings of North Jackson and Ruthie L. McCormick of Youngstown; his stepchildren, Kristopher Click of Liberty Township, Kelli (Paul) Richards of Liberty Township, Stephanie Click of Warren and Shane Click of Youngstown; a brother, Norman Gettings of Arizona, 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death was his son, Howard R. Gettings; brothers, Ray and Arthur Gettings; and sisters, Frances and Caroline.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 1 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and also on Wednesday from noon until the time of service.

William Leroy
Green, 90
CHAMPION William Leroy Green, 90, died Friday, June 13, 2008 during an extended recovery period.
He was born January 30, 1918, in Warren, the son of Emma Mae (Williams) and Artemis W. Green, and had lived in the Warren area his entire life.
Mr. Green was a January 1936 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, and was the longtime president of the reunion committee.
He was a retired patternmaker for the Taylor-Winfield Corp., working there for 33 years. He belonged to the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Warren. He was a 65-year member of Old Erie Lodge #3, serving as both master and recorder (23 years).
He was a loving husband and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Over the years, he enjoyed such activities as photography, woodworking, genealogy, gardening, archery, bowling, and reading. He was an accomplished artisan in dollhouse furniture-making. He was also an avid historian of early Warren and Champion and took pride in collecting and restoring old pictures of Warren.
Surviving are his wife, Joan (Howell) Green, whom he married August 31, 1951; six children, Meredith (Ethel) McKenzie of Pasadena, Calif., James (Linda) Green of Howland, Robert Green of Champion, Nancy Green of Boone, N.C., Barbara (William) Hummel of Champion and Ruth (David) Green-Waite of Sebring, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christina (Jake) Gwin, Jenna Green, Alex Hummel, and Eric Hummel; and one great granddaughter, MacKenzie Gwin.
Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
A Masonic service, followed by a memorial service, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the Howland Community Church.
There will be no calling hours.

NORTH LIMA There will be funeral services on Wednesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at The Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave. in Youngstown for Bernard Thomas McFerren, 89, formerly of Austintown, who died Saturday afternoon, June 14 at the Humility Health Center at the Assumption Village.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1918 in Brazil, Ind., the son of the late Thomas Henry and Mary Emma Davis McFerren.
Bernard attended Youngstown State University and graduated from Oklahoma A & M. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a mechanical engineer with Taylor Winfield Company in Warren for 10 years and previously worked at Automatic Sprinkler Company in Youngstown and the BF Goodrich Company.
He was a member of National Society of Professional Engineers, a Mason with the Wick Lodge No. 481 F.& .M., formerly Hillman Lodge, and a member of the Scottish Rite of Youngstown. He was a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church in Youngstown.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Peirce, whom he married on Aug. 17, 1946; two daughters, Mary Katherine (Russell) Toye of Avon, Ohio, Patricia Grace (Dave) Collins of Poland; four grandchildren, Kerri McTigue, Beth McTigue, Andrew (Heidi) Toye, and Christine (David) Pratt; three greatgrandchildren, Hannah Pratt, Maxwell Pratt and Grady Toye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth T. McFerren; a brother, Carl D. McFerren; a sister Lois L. Swope; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Virginia Pratt.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Boardman and one hour prior the service on Wednesday at the church.

GIRARD Robert W. Morris passed away Sunday at his sisters home in Berlin Center.
He was born May 1, 1941 in Youngstown, the son of the late Vernon and Alice (Perkins) Morris.
He was a graduate of South High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for over 20 years at Van Huffell in Warren and previously Wheatland Tube for 20 years.
He was a member of St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. He grew up on Orange Street on the Southside and often went to the neighborhood reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia (Adams) Morris, whom he married June 14, 1963; two sons, Tod (Becky) Morris of Poland and Karsten Morris of Girard; a daughter, Shelley (Joseph) Krasinski of Liberty; two sisters, Grace Hageman of Berlin Center and Heidi Iler of Warren; a sister-in-law, Sophia Tylasky; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McVean, Hughes, & McClurkin Funeral Home, 711 Wick Ave., Youngstown.

John W. Jack Parry Sr., 64
YOUNGSTOWN - John W. Jack Parry Sr., 64, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at his residence with his family at his side after a courageous fight with cancer.
Mr. Parry was born March 9, 1944 in Youngstown, a son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Spisak Parry.
He was a 1963 graduate of North High School and worked as a Drywall Finisher for Valley Acoustics, retiring in 2003 after 45 years of drywall work. He was a member of the Faith Community Church and a member of the FOE No. 213 of Youngstown, Painters Local No. 476, the Johnson Club of Hillsville, Pa., and Papa Sports Club of Youngstown.
The love of Jacks life was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing in Florida, Pymatuning State Park and in Glen Arbor, Mich. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking at the FOE 213, grilling, woodworking, and loved swimming.
Jack is survived by his wife, the former Veronica Helen Iannucci, whom he married October 2, 1965; four sons, John Parry, Jr. of Youngstown, Mathew (Kellie) Parry of Struthers, Dean (Renee) Parry of Canfield, and Bobby Parry of Youngstown; one daughter, Rebecca Parry of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Courtney and Ryan; two brothers, Richard (Lib) Parry of New Castle and James (Helen) Parry of New Middletown; one sister, Betty Jane (George) Berdine of New Middletown; one brother-in-law, Pasqual Iannucci of Youngstown; two sisters-in-law, Flo Petrella of Michigan and Mary Jane Shushok of Lowellville; one uncle, Jack (Fran) Parry of Austintown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Scott Rosensteel; three brothers-in-law, Frank Iannucci, Ronald Petrella, and Joe Shushok; his mother and father-in-law, Sortino and Helen Iannucci; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gary Marcy officiating.
Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17 at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Betty L. Smith, 75
HUBBARD Betty L. Smith, 75, died Sunday morning, June 15, 2008 at the Liberty Health Care Center.
She was born march 11, 1933 in New Castle, Pa., a daughter of Patsy and Donna Santillo Benigas and came to Hubbard in 2000 from Gaithersburg, Md.
Mrs. Smith worked for Contel Corp. in Maryland for over 15 years and retired in 1992. She was a member of the Orangeville Methodist Church.
Betty leaves two sons, Jeffery P. (Linda) Smith of Charleston, S.C. and Stuart A. (Jill) Smith of Canton; two brothers, Bennett Benigas of Las Vegas, Nev. and David (Jennie) Benigas of Girard; two sisters, Naomi Campbell of Sharon, Pa. and Patty (Don) Adams of Liberty; and grandson, Nicholas Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Bryan Smith.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Irene R. Tadla, 83
McDONALD - Irene R. Tadla, 83, passed away late Saturday morning, June 14, 2008, at her home.
Irene was born Oct. 30, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late George and Jordana Petrova Yakimoff, was a lifelong area resident and had lived in McDonald since 1947.
She was a January 1942 graduate of Chaney High School, where she was Salutatorian of a her class and a member of the National Honor Society.
On Sept. 25, 1944, Irene married her high school sweetheart, Nick Tadla, and settled in McDonald.
She worked at McKenzie Muffler during WWII, was a homemaker, and was the proprietor of the Kiddie Korner Clothing store in McDonald from 1954 to 1962. Irene also had a brief, successful real estate career, and worked for 19 years for the United States Postal Service, where she was a member of the APWU, retiring from the Youngstown Post Office in 1987.
Mrs. Tadla was a member of the McDonald Business and Professional Association, the McDonald Garden Club, the Youngstown Business Womens Club, and the McDonald Jayceettes.
She was a supervisor at the McDonald Woodland Park playground, and was a Cub Scout den leader and a Brownie leader. Irene also served two terms as president of the McDonald PTA, and was very active in many other areas in the community.
Irene was a talented seamstress and made many majorette and cheerleading uniforms for McDonald High School, and made many costumes for the Royal Swan Swim Club.
Irene leaves four children, Patricia Tadla Moewe, Nicholas Tadla II, and Atty. James Tadla, all of McDonald, and George Tadla of Denver; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Irene will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband, Nick, passed away Sept. 4, 2001; a brother, Boris Yakimoff; and a grandson, B.J. Moewe, are also deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today (June 16) at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Arthur W. Taylor, 72
YOUNGSTOWN There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 1 p.m. at The Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, with Rev. Peg Welch officiating for Arthur W. Taylor, 72, who passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
Arthur will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends.
He was born February 11, 1936 in Butler, Pa., the son of Arthur William and Margaret Grace (Slaugenhaupt) Taylor.
Arthur was chief engineer for 35 years with WYTV in Youngstown, and retired 1998.
He was a 1954 graduate of Vandergrift High School, and attended DeVry Technical Institute, where he received his Technical Degree.
Arthur enjoyed taking care of his Geraniums in his garden, and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. His greatest joy was watching his daughters play sports.
He leaves behind to hold on to his memory his wife, the former Esther Irene Walker, whom he married August 5, 1961; two daughters, Shari (Paul) Ruppel of Moon Township, Pa., and Lori Taylor of Elyria, Ohio; two grandchildren, Brian and Neil Ruppel; a brother, Larry (Andrea) Taylor; and niece and nephew.
Friends may call on Tuesday June 17, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday June 18, 2008 from noon to 12:50 p.m. at The Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
