Raymond T. Blank, 83

STRUTHERS – Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27 at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers for Raymond T. Blank, 83, who passed away early Tuesday morning, June 24.

Raymond was born Aug. 31, 1924 in Youngstown, the son of Valentine and Elsie (Heckinger) Blank.

He attended East High School and was employed by LTV Steel in the power and fuel department, retiring in 1980.

He will always be remembered by his wife, the former Irma DeMolli, whom he married April 30, 1964; a niece, Anna Marie Roth of Austintown; a nephew, Ray Howe of Austintown; and many other loving nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, Conrad, Edwin, Robert, Lester, and Anthony Blank; and his sisters, Dolores Howe, Henrietta Wiley, and Kathryn Pachell.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 26 at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of the 2nd floor Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman Campus, for their kind and compassionate care.



Armenis Cato Jr.

NEW ORLEANS – Armenis Cato, Jr. was born Feb. 19, 1953, the son of Armenis Cato, Sr. and Leeann Boatwright Cato.

He departed this earthly life on Saturday, June 14, 2008 from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

Armenis was a 1972 graduate of The Rayen High School in Youngstown. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and remained enlisted until his retirement in 1993. He was employed with Lowes of Florence at the time of his demise.

Armenis was a member of the Seven Wise Men Scottish Rite Order, Masonic Lodge No. 32 in Portsmouth, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommie Davis; and his grandparents, Mack and Ruby Boatwright and Albert (Maybelle) Cato.

Left to cherish fond memories are his former wife, Sara Brown Cato of Florence, S.C.; three daughters, Amelia Wilson, Endia Causer and Lacretia Cato, all of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Alexia Causer, Ayriana Causer and Qintrell Causer, all of Charleston; four sisters, Annette Cato of Orlando, Fla., Olivia (Greg) Widget, Deloris Johnson and Carrie Belcher, all of Youngstown; one aunt, Mary Lee Harrison of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one uncle, Billy Joe (Sara) Cato of Florence,; six in-laws; his companion, Bernadette Robinson and children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Rose Cronin, 84

BOARDMAN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday at St. Charles Church and prayers said at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Rose Cronin, 84, who died peacefully early Tuesday morning at Whispering Pines Village, where she had resided for six and a half years.

Rose was born Jan. 7, 1924 in Youngstown, to the late Vito and Mary (Massari) DePietro.

She attended East High School, and was a member of St. Anthony's Ladies Auxiliary and St. Charles Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Cronin, whom she married Dec. 2, 1942, he died June 8, 1976.

She is also preceded by a sister, Nicolena Zitto DeNicholas; and twin brother, Fred DePietro.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Peter) Panis of Canfield, Edward J. (Donna) Cronin of Estero, Fla.; her sister and best friend, Eleanor Stoich of Boardman; six grandchildren, Tracey (Dan) Citron of Egan, Minn., Tony Cronin of New York, Stephanie Panis of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Gregory Panis of Boyton Beach, Fla., Stacey Sullivan of Beaver, Pa., and Kristen (Michael) Powers of Canfield; four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Garrett, Brooke, and Jessica.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff and administration of Whispering Pines Village, and Rose’s special private care givers, Barbara Burnside, Tina Vaughn, Lana Hogue, and Carol Basinger.

Louella Dendy, 69

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be held Friday, June 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Everlife Worship Center for Mrs. Louella Dendy, 69, who departed this life Friday, June 20, 2008.

Mrs. Dendy was born Jan. 14, 1939 in Quitman, Ga., a daughter of Wilmond and Ida Lee Hall Miles, coming to this area as a child.

She had worked as a cook for Diamond Head Nursing Home for over 25 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church. She loved cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Her husband, Nathaniel, passed away September of 1996.
