Mary C. Bogatay, 100
GIRARD Mary C. Bogatay, 100, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home in Niles.
She was born March 25, 1908 in Aliquippa, Pa.; the daughter of the late Anton and Frances Dezman.
She was a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge No. 643 and Slovenian Pensioners.
She married to John Bogatay Sr. who passed away Jan. 5, 1991.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeannette Robinson of Idaho; a sister, Elsie Furin of Girard; a daughter-in-law, Esther Bogatay; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Bogatay Jr.; two brothers, Albert and Ado Dezman; and two sisters, Ann Beckish and Frances Mayton.
Arrangements were handled by McClurkin Funeral Home, Girard.
Ronald Lee Kollar, 65
YOUNGSTOWN Private services were held Thursday at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens for Ronald Lee Kollar, 65, who died Monday, June 23 at Hospice House.
Ronald was born May 2, 1943 in Youngstown, the son of Stephen and Helen Dulick Kollar.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1977 to 1995.
Ronald had worked at the U.S. Steel Corp. for 20 years in the Ohio works blast furnace, and for 13 years doing Lithography.
He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Ronalds hobbies were yard work and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Julene Riley Kollar, whom he married May 8, 1965; daughters, Debbie Lopez of Campbell and Michelle Kollar of Youngstown; brothers, Richard and Kerry of Youngstown; brother-in-law, Fred Riley; grandchildren, Sabrina Kollar and Nick Lopez.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Schiavone Funeral Home.
Genevieve Jenny Makar, 92
LIBERTY Genevieve Jenny Makar, 92, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at her home.
She was born Jan. 17, 1916 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late John and Adele (Wisnieski) Valiski.
She was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard and was active with their senior citizens. She was also a member of the Girard Senior Citizens and the Girard Senior Card Club. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She married Michael R. Makar on May 30, 1936, he passed away June 18, 1993.
She is survived by a son, Bud Makar of Girard; and three sisters, Helen Katana of Florida, Stella Sheaffer of Warren, and Elizabeth Kunka of Warren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Makar; a brother, John Valiski; and a sister, Ann Bodgen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 a.m. until prayers at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery.
Anna M. Paceleo, 87
HUBBARD Anna M. Paceleo, 87, died Friday morning, June 27, 2008, at Omni Manor.
She was born Feb. 2, 1921 in Farrell, Pa., the daughter of Antonio and Maria Costanza Boca and was a lifelong area resident, living in Hubbard since 1983.
A homemaker, Mrs. Paceleo, formerly worked at the Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sharon during WWII. She was a member of the Covenant Life Fellowship in Hubbard. Anna was a very giving person and enjoyed feeding everyone who visited with her in her home. She enjoyed stitching, crafts, and especially cooking.
Her husband, Francesco Frank Paceleo, whom she married Sept. 15, 1945, died May 2, 2005.
She leaves a daughter, Phyllis (Gary) Mayle of Hubbard; two granddaughters, Heather (Michael) Wellendorf of Hubbard and Raquel Diamond of Pittsburgh; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Diamond, James Diamond, Micaela Wellendorf, and Michael D. Wellendorf II; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Raffaela Boca, who raised her; a brother Frank Boca; and a sister, Rose Chiodo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
Family and friends may call on Sunday form 2 to 5 p.m. and on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Jane Ponikvar, 73
POLAND Jane Ponikvar, 73, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Mrs. Ponikvar was born June 4, 1935 in Clarksburg, W.Va., the daughter of B. William and Florence Waltz Phillips.
She has been an area resident since 1955.
She was a graduate of Thomas High School in Thomas, W.Va.
Mrs. Ponikvar previously worked as an office manager for Dr. Sethi and for Arbys International.
She was a member of the Holy Family Church in Poland and a former member of St. Luke Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of the Korean War Veterans and she loved sewing and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves her husband, Harry Lee Ponikvar Sr., whom she married June 5, 1954; her daughter, Nancy Frasco of Poland; her son, Bud (Mary) Ponikvar of Boardman; four grandchildren, Meghan (Joseph) Gear of Boardman, Garrett, Jayna, and Spencer Frasco, all of Poland; and one great-grandson, Shane Gear of Poland; three sisters, Anna Shaffer of Oak Hill, W.Va., Emily (Jack) Lambruno of Thomas, W.Va., and Sally (Chuck) Touchette of Caroga Lake, NY; and one brother, Donald (Maria) Phillips of Orlando.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Thomas Phillips; and a son-in-law, Jay Frasco.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church
Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where a prayer service will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m.
