Wilber E. Wib Anstrom, 89
POLAND There will be services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Boardman United Methodist Church for Wilber E. Wib Anstrom, 89, who died early Friday morning at Assumption Village.
He was born June 20, 1919 in Youngstown, a son of Edulf and Ida C. Peterson Anstrom.
As a child, he worked at his fathers meat and grocery store whenever needed. After graduating from South High School, Wib was employed by Mahoning National Bank and then by Mahoning Valley Supply, when a large Ohio based steel hauler offered him a growth position.
Wib eagerly seized the opportunity and grew with the firm, eventually becoming president of Aetna Freight Lines in Warren. Ten years later, in October of 1970, he moved the entire family to Buffalo, N.Y when he purchased Kreuger Trucking. He added Evans Trucking seven years later and renamed it Anstrom Cartage Co.
Wib was a past president of the Steel Carriers Conference of the ATA, a past member of the executive committee and a past director of the NYSMTA. He was also a past member of the board of the Boardman United Methodist Church, where he also served as financial director for two years.
He was a 60 year member of Sulgrave Lodge No. 696 F.& A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Youngstown and Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland. He was a long time member of Pymatuning Yacht Club, where he served as commodore. Wib named his boat to express a summary of his life, My Way. Besides sailing, Wib enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.
His wife of 66 years, the former Ruth Warnock, whom he married Oct. 17, 1942, has been a witness through thickn thin.
They have two children, Jon R. (Sally J.) Anstrom of Boardman and Barbara R. (Joel B.) Ridge of Orchard Park, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, J. Erik and Ryan E. Anstrom, both of Boardman and Laura B. and Noel B. Ridge, both of Orchard Park.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie E. Hedlund and a brother, Robert B. Anstrom.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anstrom-Velker Funeral Home, 75 E. Midlothian Blvd. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Anna Basista, 104
BOARDMAN Anna Basista, 104, of the Greenbriar, formerly of Poland, died early Thursday morning at the nursing home.
Anna was born Oct. 22, 1903 in Stelbach, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of Elias and Helen Semancik Basista. She came to the United States and to Struthers in 1920 and then moved to Poland in 1995.
She was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Anna enjoyed people and loved spending time with her family. She loved to garden and was a wonderful cook.
Her husband, John D. Basista, whom she married May 30, 1921, died on Oct. 15, 1936.
She leaves one daughter, Agnes Butsko of Poland; three sons, Andy (Evelyn) Basista of Warren, Jim (Margaret) Basista of Niles, and John (Maryann) Basista of Poland; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by two daughters, Helen and Norma Basista; three brothers, Elias, Joseph and Stephen Basista; and two sisters, Mary Seginak and Paraska Busonik.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Victor Romza officiating.
Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9:15 a.m. until the time of prayer service at the funeral home.

Dolores Rae Bolander, 71
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLA. Dolores Rae Bolander, 71, the daughter of Raymond A. and Hazel L. Reynallt, was born in Youngstown on Dec. 7, 1936.
Mrs. Bolander worked for the Youngstown Hospital Association as an RN in the recovery room. She was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church in Poland, prior to moving to Florida, where she worked at Sandlake ORMC recovery room as a senior staff RN for 25 years, before retiring. Prior to her death, she continued to work in the PACU unit at Florida Hospital Altamonte, where she was also a spiritual ambassador.
While working at Florida Hospital she also worked for the family business, American Beverage. She joined the First Presbyterian Church Maitland in 1962, where she was an elder, a Stephen minister, Sunday school teacher, member of the praise team, and member of the chancel choir. She helped with LOGOS, small groups and was a member of Circle 9.
Mrs. Bolander is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jon A. Bolander, whom she married Nov. 23, 1957; her two children, Jill (Leo) Contrucci, Jon (Nichol) Bolander; two grandchildren, Lauren and Joshua Bolander; her two sisters, Linda (Dave) Taylor and Glenna (Pat) Droege of Youngstown; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins from both sides of her family.
She touched the lives of so many people and was loved by all. Her greatest joys in life were her family, church, work and music.
She was an advocate for organ donation and she herself was an organ donor for TransLife, which was a major priority in her life. She was a woman of great faith and a second mother to so many people
A memorial service for Dolores who passed away Oct. 9, will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at 3 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Maitland, 341 US 17-92, Maitland, FL 32751.

David Lynn Brown, 56
QUITMAN, ARK. David Lynn Brown, 56, died Oct. 8, 2008.
He was born Feb. 15, 1952 in Salem, to the late Robert Brown and Twilla Shilling Brown.
Survivors include wife, Dorene Brown of Quitman; sons, Ryan Brown of California and Jim Heasley and John Heasley, both of Ohio; daughters, Jenni Brown of Montana, Deanne Brown of New Mexico and Nichole King of Ward, Ark. Other survivors include two sisters, Joan Kirkbirde and Karen Moreno, both of Ohio, along with five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Bishop-Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John McCarty officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bishop-Griffin Funeral Home of Greenbrier, Ark.
Hildred C. June Gast, 85
MINERAL RIDGE Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel for Hildred C. June Gast, 85, who died Thursday evening at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
June was born Sept. 24, 1923 in McKees Rocks, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Hildred (Walker) Ciccone.
She had been an executive secretary for Packard Electric retiring a number of years ago. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries International, which is now I.A.A.P., where she was named Secretary of the Year in 1978.
She was a member of the Bolindale Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge in Mineral Ridge and the American Womens League. She was instrumental in starting Socks for Grundy Program through the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ.
June is survived by her daughter, June (Glenn) Davies of Mineral Ridge; two sisters, Sadie Hoffman of Conway, Pa. and Lois Fejka of Freedom, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Glenn Bip and Eric Davies. June also leaves several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Gast and two brothers, Joseph and James Ciccone.

WESTLAKE Mary Ann (Laub) Holway, beloved wife of Richard J. (deceased); devoted mother of Ann (Chris) Colvin, Roberta Werner, Richard J. Valerie Keiper, 80
HUBBARD Valerie Keiper, 80, died Thursday evening, Oct. 9, 2008, at Hospice House.
She was born Feb. 4, 1928 in Germany, a daughter of Hugo and Frieda Schluter Siekmann and came to the United States in 1958 and had lived in Hubbard since 1959.
Mrs. Keiper worked for the U.S. Can Company in Hubbard for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Hubbard and the Youngstown Mannerchor Club couples golf league.
She leaves her husband, Robert Keiper, whom she married Aug. 25, 1973; one daughter, Brigitte (Dan) Shindledecker of Sandy Lake, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Karen Fazzone; two stepsons, Robert Keiper Jr. of Hubbard and James Keiper of Struthers; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard, where family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

BOARDMAN Mrs. F. Evelyn Mc Culloch, 90, of 6675 Applewood Blvd., died peacefully Thursday at 10:47 a.m. at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Mc Culloch was born in Greenville, Pa. on Nov. 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Clare S. and Mary Blanche (Hillman) Turner.
Evelyn was a 1935 graduate of Farrell (Pa.) High School.
She was the widow of Marcus A. Mc Culloch, whom she married on July 7, 1940, and he died on May 15, 1985.
She was a 50 year plus member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, Pa., where she was a member of the Couplers Class. She had also been the choir director for the former Farrell Presbyterian Church before it merged with the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Evelyn loved music, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzan Hedrick and her husband, Dr. Earl Hedrick of Boardman; her son, Marcus Douglas Mc Culloch and his wife, Laurel of Toledo; and her sister, Bernice Houk of Ellwood City, Pa. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Turner.

CANFIELD Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, and at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Catholic Church, for Kathleen L. McDermott, 66, who was welcomed home by God Thursday evening at her home.
Kathleen was born Sept. 30, 1942 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late William and Lucille Bradford. She was a member of St. Christine Catholic Church and she spent all of her time doing things for other people. She could constantly be found in the kitchen baking thousands of cookies or cooking for anyone and everyone.
Kathleen will be sadly missed by many, including her daughters, Kelly Johns, and Susan (John) Jones, both of Canfield; a sister, Nancy (Robert) Lopatta of Boardman; three grandchildren, Ashley and Daniel Johns, and Michelle Jones; and two nephews, Bobby and Brian Lopatta. These were the people that meant everything to her.

Sallie B. Pinkard, 84
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be at noon on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church for Mrs. Sallie B. Pinkard, 84, who departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Campus Health Care.
Mrs. Pinkard was born June 17, 1924 in Crosshill, S.C., a daughter of George and Minnie Rustin Goode.
She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Forum Health North Side Medical Center, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, president of its Missionary Society, a member of the Willing Workers, Senior Choir, Consolation Committee, Hospitality Committee and Sunday School Ministry. She was also a member of the Youngstown Subdistrict of the Northern Ohio Baptist District Association - Womens Auxiliary, Youngstown Warren Canton District Association, Past Worthy Matron of Harvest Chapter O.E.S., Sunflower Garden Club, Eastside Civic Club, Church Women United, Senior Civic League, the NAACP, and the Eagle Eye Neighborhood Block Watch.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and especially loved reaching out to others in her own personal outreach ministry.
Her husband, Lemmet, whom she married Aug. 29, 1947, passed away in 1988.
She leaves to cherish her beloved and precious memory 11 children, Nate (Camille) Pinkard and Joyce Pinkard White, both of Youngstown, Kimberly A. Pinkard of Reynoldsburg, Bertha Stewart, Rev. Leo (Dorothy) Pinkard, Charlie Ben (Magdalene) Pinkard, and Lemmet Pinkard, Jr., all of Cleveland, Ruth Jackson of Indiana, Alberta (Cephus) Smith of Campbell, Betty Browning of Sherman Oakes, Calif., and Christine Gray of Hattiesburg, Miss.; brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Blount, Corrine Browning and Ozella Rogers, and John and George Goode, all of Cleveland; 29 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, David, James and Harold Goode; and sisters, Minnie Ruth Williams, Georgianna Goode, Elsie Thompson and Lillie Andrew.

Nancy Lee Pochiro, 69
STRUTHERS - There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Monday at the High Pointe Church on Struthers Road in Poland for Nancy Lee Pochiro, 69, who died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, after sustaining injuries from a car accident.
Mrs. Pochiro was born Feb. 3, 1939 in Youngstown, a daughter of James and Wilma (Muzevich) Baker.
Nancy graduated in 1957 from Campbell Memorial High School.
Mrs. Pochiro worked at Red Lobster in Boardman for over 20 years, retiring in 2004.
She was an active member of the High Pointe Church for 13 years. In that time, she participated in the Womens Ministry and served on the hospitality team, which provided meals to families in times of need. She conducted group prayer meetings in her home and was a contributing member of The 700 Club. She was a certified Master Gardener and a member of the Fellows Riverside Garden Club. She belonged to the Boardman YMCA, where she participated in the Silver Sneakers program.
Among her many joys were gardening, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Nancy was known for being a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and true friend. She was extremely compassionate and touched many people in her lifetime. Nancy will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She leaves two daughters, Rana (Fred Esposito) Pochiro of Struthers and their son, Nino Esposito, and Lisa (Robert) Miletta of New Springfield and their children, Jessica Pignatelli, Daniel and Tyler Miletta; a son, Christopher Pochiro of Boardman and his children, Lana Pochiro and Brandy Rosine; and three sisters, Patricia Skelley of Boardman, Judy (Andrew) Pechatsko of Mentor and Karen Radonski of Boardman.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Bonita Baker.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. before the memorial service at the High Pointe Church.

Mary Elizabeth (Raduck) Puchstein, 84
WORTHINGTON Mary Elizabeth (Raduck) Puchstein, 84, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at the Ohio Masonic Home.
She was born on Dec. 30, 1923 in Youngstown, the daughter of Mile and Carrie (Matasic) Raduck.
She was involved with the Columbus Museum of Arts and was the founder of Creative Cuisine, a premier catering company.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold O. Puchstein; one son, Harold Puchstein Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and one sister, Gloria Cabral of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Julia T. Tascione, 94
GIRARD Julia T. Tascione, 94, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Briarfield at Ashley Circle in Austintown.
She was born Sept. 4, 1914 in Girard, the daughter of the late Louis and Lucy (Gelsomino) DeSteven.
She had been employed during WWII at Ravenna Arsenal. She worked many years at Strouss-Hirshburg Department Store and Woolco Department Store, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard and was active with their senior citizen group and Mt. Carmel Society. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Girard Senior Citizens.
She married Leo R. Tascione on Feb. 15, 1934. He passed away July 7, 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Marie Henninger of Liberty and Rita OBrien of Girard; a brother, Perry DeSteven of Girard; a sister, Antoinette DeSteven of Girard; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Thomas.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church with prayers at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Girard City Cemetery.
Ann Woloschak, 83
AUSTINTOWN - Ann Woloschak, 83, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown.
Ann was born on March 5, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late John and Theresa Suchy Woloschak and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Chaney High School, worked for several years for the Seven-Up Bottling Company, and was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Ann leaves three brothers, Michael Woloschak of Liberty Township, John (Marie) Woloschak of North Olmsted and Paul Woloschak of Boardman; two sisters, Kay Fitch of Youngstown and Esther (Alex) Musichuk of Parma; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Steve Woloschak and a sister, Mary Kakish, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown, where a prayer service will be held at 4:15 p.m.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and continue at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
