Dick Beight
EAST PALESTINE Claude Dick Beight, 90, of 720 Alice St., died Wednesday morning at his home following a six month illness.
Mr. Beight was born March 7, 1919 in East Palestine, a son of Claude Wilson and Eva Neil Beight and had lived in this area all of his life.
He was a 1937 graduate of East Palestine High School. Dick then went to work for the former McCommon Hardware in East Palestine and served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 1st Calvary Division in the South Pacific. After being discharged from the Army, Dick returned to work at the hardware store where he remained until his retirement after 70 years of work.
Dick was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Canfield Lodge No. 155 and George F. McBane Post No. 31 American Legion. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and gardening. He loved to play pinochle with the boys and other card games with a host of wonderful friends.
He married Helen Ward in 1947 and she died in 1977. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Thompson and a brother, Floyd Beight.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ferne Zimmerman Jackson, whom he married June 23, 1980; a daughter, Claudia (Jerry) Prayzac of Bradenton, Fla.; a son, Richard (Laura) Beight of East Palestine; a stepdaughter, Sammae (Paul) Schulz of Richmond, Ky.; stepson, Roy Jackson of North Lima; a sister, Martha Jane (William) Williams of Canton; 12 grandchildren, Craig Beight, Korie Beight, Lee Beight, Ryan and Alyssa Henderson, Drs. Brittany and Paul Schulz, Jenny and Brad Dobrzynski, Jeff and Amy Jackson, David Jackson; and great-grandchildren Haley Dobrzynski, Garrett Schulz, Kayla Beight, Elizabeth Jackson and Madelyn Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine with the Reverend Donald Aull officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery where the combined group from the American Legion and VFW will accord military honors.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until noon at the church on Friday.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, in East Palestine.

Edward R. Burton, 83
NORTH LIMA Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home for Edward R. Burton, 83, who passed away Tuesday, April 21.
Edward was born July 7, 1925 in Youngstown, the son of Harry Burton and Eltie Dennmead.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Edward was employed by American Paper Products.
He will always be remembered by his nephew and caregiver, Howard Bill Mounts of New Middletown; a sister, Donna Labozan of Struthers; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Francis and Bob Burton and an infant brother; and three sisters, Sally Mounts, Dorothy Sandrock and Ruby Burgess.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery, where Edwards dedicated service to our country will be recognized with full military honors by our local American Legion Post No. 737 of Lake Milton.

Ralph P. DiPietro, 76
LIBERTY Ralph P. DiPietro, 76, died Tuesday afternoon at Hospice House.
He was born Oct. 16, 1932 in Massillon, a son of Serophino L. and Mary A. DePietro DiPietro and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. DiPietro worked for U.S. Steel, McDonald Works for 38 years, before retiring in 1982.
He served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Patrick Church and enjoyed woodworking.
His wife, the former Janice Knight, whom he married Nov. 28, 1959, died Dec. 2, 1992.
He leaves three daughters, Monica (Eric) DelColle of Liberty, Beth DiPietro of Columbus and Janet (Kevin) Barren of Cortland; two brothers, Larry (Evelyn) DiPietro of Greenwood, S.C. and Bill (Linda) DiPietro of Hubbard; two sisters, Evelyn (Armond) Prezioso of Niles and Esther Palumbo of Girard; and four grandchildren, Sam, Mary, Louie and Frankie DelColle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice; and two brothers, Sam and John DiPietro.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.

Anna Marie Dominic, 82
DANIA, FLA. A committal service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Youngstown at 11 a.m. for Anna Marie Dominic, 82, who died Jan. 10, 2009, at Heartland of Lauderhill in Lauderhill, Fla.
Anna Marie was born Dec. 31, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of James and Catherine Procick LaGamaba. She lived in the Youngstown area most of her life, retiring in Dania 15 years ago.
She had worked in the Millinery Department at G.M. McKelvey, then Union Distributing and most recently with Superior Beverage Group LTD. While in Youngstown, she was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Church. She was a graduate of The Rayen School and was an avid bowler, participating in many tournaments.
Anna Marie is survived by a son, Michael (Lisa) Dominic of Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Dollie (Frank) Naples of Youngstown; two nephews, Frank Naples and Jimmy Naples, both of Youngstown; and a great-niece, Victoria Naples of Youngstown.
Family and friends may gather at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Susan M. Fulytar, 54
HUBBARD Susan M. Fulytar, 54, died Tuesday morning, April 21, 2009, at Hospice House.
She was born Feb. 2, 1955 in Youngstown, a daughter of Edward G. and Joanne Taafe Yasher and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Fulytar was a case manager at Anthem Well Point for the last 10 years, while pursuing her RN degree and had previously been head secretary at Southside Hospital and a nurse at Mahoning Valley Hospital. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard and a member of the Womens Renewal Team at the church. Susan enjoyed crafts, spending time with her grandchildren, dancing and loved walking.
She leaves her parents, Edward and Joanne Yasher of Hubbard; husband, William R. Fulytar, whom she married July 14, 1979; two sons, George (Abbey) Summers and Kevin M. Fulytar, both of Hubbard; a daughter, Jennifer R. (Matthew) Mastell of Hubbard; three brothers, Edward J. (Kim) Yasher, Thomas J. Yasher and Richard M. Yasher, all of Hubbard; two grandchildren, Luke and Landon Summers; and several nieces and nephews.

James F. Gettings Jr., 51
CAMPBELL - James F. Gettings Jr., 51, passed away Monday morning, April 20, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.
James was born March 3, 1958 in Youngstown, a son of the late James F. Sr. and Dana Mae Bossard Gettings, and was a lifelong area resident.
He worked as a self-employed carpenter. Jimmy enjoyed photography and his computer, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Jim leaves his wife, Julie Miller Gettings, whom he married April 24, 1993; four children, James F. Gettings III of Campbell, Jessica Lynn Smith, Joshua Lee Gettings of Campbell and Justin Lee Gettings of Campbell; three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Theresa and Kaleb; two brothers, Leon D. (Paulette) Gettings of Canfield and John F. (Janie) Gettings of North Jackson; a sister, Ruth L. McCormick of Youngstown; two stepchildren, Brandon Lee Miller of Warren and Shawn Michael Bogart of Boardman; a stepsister, Karen Dunkel of Niles; and several nieces and nephews, including Anthony L. McCormick of Campbell, whom he helped raise.
Besides his parents, a brother, Howard R. Gettings is deceased.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m. at Glenwood Christian Fellowship, 7872 Glenwood Ave. in Boardman, where family and friends may gather from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Ruth M. Haworth, 90
INDIANAPOLIS Ruth M. Haworth, 90, died peacefully on April 20, 2009, in Indianapolis.
Ruth was born in Youngstown and spent most of her life there. After the death of her husband, she moved to Harmony Village in Columbiana. With declining health, she moved to Indianapolis to be near her daughter, Kathleen.
In death, her spirit now joins her beloved husband, Tyrol, as well as all of her family who preceded her in death, and all of whom she spoke about repeatedly in her final days.
She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends. She is survived by her adult children, Kathleen (Richard) Opincar, Ind., Jack (Julie) Haworth of Virginia and Charles (Susan) Haworth of Arizona. Doubly blessed to know her also were her five grandchildren, Michael (Laura), Mark (Pam), Melissa (Mark), Karen and Michelle. She lived to enjoy and love five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Mackenzie, Natalie, Abigail and Matthew.

Douglas Stephen Jessey, 70
STRUTHERS Douglas Stephen Jessey, 70, died April 21, 2009 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Jessey was born Aug. 17, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of Emil and Veronica Bolash Jessey and was a lifelong resident of Struthers.
He was a 1956 graduate of Struthers High School and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Jessey was employed by General Extrusions for 37 years as the shipping department supervisor, retiring in 1994.
He leaves his wife, the former Jeanne M. Baker, whom he married Sept. 23, 1963; his two daughters, Linda (Jeffrey) Clemens of Jefferson Hills, Pa. and Amy (James) Manning of Struthers; a granddaughter, Sarah Manning; and a brother, David (Rose) Jessey of Chino, Calif.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Jessey.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 3900 Villa Marie Road in Lowellville.

Doris A. Lanz, 88
BOARDMAN A memorial service will be held Friday, April 24, at 6 p.m. at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road in Boardman for Doris A. Lanz, 88, who died Tuesday morning at Greenbriar Health Care Center.
Doris was born April 26, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William Neal and Florence Leone Nutt Reynolds and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a member of the Boardman Christian Church (now Disciple Christian Church) and Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens. Doris enjoyed playing the piano and listening to music and was also an avid reader.
Her husband, Atty. Fred Lanz, whom she married July 8, 1943, died Aug. 8, 1983.
She is survived by two sons, James W. (Charlotte) Lanz of Hubbard and Atty. C. Scott (Arlene) Lanz of Boardman; one daughter, Marcie Lanz Welch of Boardman; one brother, William N. (Marnie) Reynolds Jr. of San Antonio; one sister, Betty Lou Allen of Boardman; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Doris was preceded in death by two sons, the Rev. Frederick C. Lanz and John J. Lanz.

James Sybert Markle, 71
NILES James Sybert Markle, 71, of 42 S. Bentley Ave., died at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Warren on Oct. 16, 1937 to James Delbert and Lillian Marie (Deetscreek) Markle.
James was a 1958 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a U.S. Marine veteran. He retired in 2002 after working 30 years as a line worker at Peerless Winsmith Inc. of Warren. He was an avid bowler and a member of several veteran organizations and was a national member of the National Association for Uniformed Services.
James is survived by two sisters, Irene Jagnow of Niles and Sherry (Dominic) Gizzi of Lowellville; a special friend and caregiver, Bobby Stout of Niles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gloria Pallante.
The funeral will be Friday, April 24, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Pineview Cemetery.

William Carmen Nicastro, 96
STRUTHERS William Carmen Nicastro, 96, of Struthers, died April 18, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Nicastro was born Sept. 16, 1912 in Youngstown, a son of Toby and Madelyn Naples Nicastro.
Mr. Nicastro worked as a welder for Youngstown Sheet & Tube for 42 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of St. Anthony Church in Youngstown. Mr. Nicastro enjoyed bocce and golfing in his earlier years.
He leaves his wife, the former Vivian Gumina, whom he married June 15, 1940; two grandchildren, Robert A. (Leslie) Davanzo of New Springfield and Yvonne M. (Ralph) Davanzo Blanco of Poland; three great-grandchildren, Marisa Monae Davanzo, Mya Marie Blanco, and Mara Elizabeth Blanco; a brother, Carmen Barba of Youngstown; two sisters, Antoinette (Samuel) Ranno of Canfield and Anna Barba of Canfield; and a son-in-law, Anthony C. Davanzo of Lowellville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Toby Nicastro and his mother, Madelyn Mary Barba; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Frances Davanzo; a great-grandson, Zachary Robert Davanzo; two sisters, Kathryn Herubin and Rose Mestichelli; and a brother, Steve Barba.
Private services were held yesterday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Donald Charles Rupert, 95
SEBRING Donald Charles Rupert, 95, of 800 South 15th St., died April 21 in the Crandall Medical Center of Copeland Oaks.
He was born to Willis and Emma Van Skiver Rupert on Dec. 14, 1913, on the Rupert family farm outside of New Waterford.
In 2004, he was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Grace Moore Rupert.
Mr. Rupert is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Jean) Nickol of Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. James (Doris) Frederick of Springfield, Mrs. James (Joyce) Levine of Hudson and Mrs. Edward (Kathleen) Schulz of Santa Fe, N.M.; a son, Mark W. (Regina) Rupert of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William (Elverda) Baughman of New Waterford, Mrs. John (Frances) Beson of Houston and Mrs. Olyn (Lois) Boyle of Sebring; and one brother, W. Ralph Rupert of Columbiana.
Two brothers, Raymond Rupert and Robert Rupert, preceded him in death.
After graduating from Fairfield Centralized High School in 1932, Mr. Rupert attended the College of Wooster and later transferred to The Ohio State University, where he earned a B.S. in Agriculture in 1937. Mr. Rupert instituted new methods of seed production on the Willis Rupert & Sons Farm and also brought innovations related to its Jersey dairy herd. After retirement, he and Grace moved to a 10-acre property near Columbiana, where he continued to grow fruits, vegetables, flowers and trees, including Christmas trees that he enjoyed selling.
Mr. Rupert was active in a number of agricultural associations: Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society for agriculture; Farm Bureau, which awarded him a Lifetime Distinguished Service Award; the American Jersey Cattle Club; the Ohio Jersey Breeders Association, which he served as board member and treasurer; Ohio Agriculture Services, which he also served as treasurer; and advisory committees for the Columbiana County Extension Service and the Columbiana County Soil and Water Conservation District. He is an emeritus member of the Ohio Seed Improvement Association.
Mr. Rupert had an active interest in education and is a past-president of the Columbiana County School Board. His organizational leadership and monetary gifts helped establish the Crestview Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. He was also involved in other community organizations, such as the New Waterford Lions Club; Fairfield Ruritan; and the Columbiana County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, for which he was treasurer.
He is a past-president of the Columbiana County Historical Association and helped to establish and stock the Items of Yesteryear Museum at the county fairgrounds. Mr. Rupert was a lifelong member of the New Waterford Presbyterian Church, where he was at various times elder, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent.
Mr. Rupert was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. In 1967, he and his wife visited the Soviet Union on a People to People Farm Bureau tour. Another highlight trip was rafting on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, a trip he took multiple times with his children and grandchildren, most recently 12 years ago. Late in his life, Mr. Rupert worked on writing projects, including material for the historical association, a travel article published in the Farm & Dairy, and personal projects for his family. His writings are evidence of a very insightful mind and active involvement in his family, as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The Rev. Jan Douglass will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the New Waterford Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends after the service.

YOUNGSTOWN A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church for Alex Robert Sabo, 54, who passed away Monday evening at home.
Alex Robert was born June 1, 1954 in Youngstown, a son of Alex Al and Helen Yancsurak Sabo.
He was a computer analyst for the Canfield School System and a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church.
He graduated from Chaney High School in 1972 and attended Case Western Reserve University.
He is survived by his parents at home and a sister, Dr. Susan Joyce Sabo of Avon.

Dorothy Jean (Myers) Sampson, 91
DEERFIELD Dorothy Jean (Myers) Sampson, 91, died on April 21, 2009, at her home in Deerfield.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1918 in Youngstown to John Pemberthy and Nora (Curl) Myers.
She graduated from Scienceville High School in 1935 and was married to Donald Thomas Sampson of Deerfield on March 22, 1937, where they resided their entire life. Donald preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Sampson was a life member of the Deerfield Historical Society and attended the Palmyra United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Palmy Chapter No. 114 of Deerfield and the Deerfield Dandies.
Thanks to the Hospice of Alliance. Their help was invaluable. Also, the family greatly appreciates the caring help of friends, Pat Datish and Carolyn MacBride.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Jr. (Sally) of Deerfield and Richard (Mary Jane) of New Baltimore; six grandchildren, Donald T., Rhys, Charlie, John, David and Carrie; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hannah Kinsey of Port Lavaca, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald T. Sampson; brothers, William Earl Myers and John Roy Myers; and a sister, Betty Chrystal.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, with the Rev. Douglas Beggs and the Rev. John Gelnett co-officiating.

Andrew C. Scott Jr., 65
LORDSTOWN A celebration of life will be Sunday, April 26, for Andrew C. Scott Jr., 65, who died Tuesday morning at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Andrew was born March 4, 1944 in Warren, the son of Andrew C. and Dorothy (Engle) Scott Sr.
Andrew retired in 1990 from General Motors, where he had worked for 23 years. After his retirement, he was a Lake Erie Charter Captain and owned and operated with his wife, the BBs Gourmet Coffee Barn.
He graduated from Joseph Badger High School in 1963, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving from 1963 to 1966.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bonnie (Stewart) Scott, whom he married Oct. 22, 1964; sons, Rob (Michele) of Champion, John of Lyman, S.C. and Jaime of Canfield; and grandchildren, Joshua and Brooke Scott. He is also survived by his sisters, Myrtle Easton of Champion, Lora (Rich) Hawkins of Champion, Deb (Jack) Hudak of Lordstown and Judy (Tom) Klosinski of Orwell; and his brother, Bud (Arlene) of Orwell.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lordstown Administration Building.

Pastor Annie Marie Wallace Holt Scott, 75
YOUNGSTOWN Pastor Annie Marie Wallace Holt Scott, 75, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Pastor Scott was born to Fred and Eleanor Davis Wallace on Aug. 19, 1933 in Youngstown. Her father passed when she was six years old and then was raised by her mother and Robert L. Gibson.
Annie received Christ at a young age and was baptized at the Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a member of the Buckeye Elks.
She marched for the Trojan Military Band and used her gifted musical skills to create her own band called the Annie Holt Trio. Besides being blessed with the art of music, she had a passion for painting. Her education consisted of receiving her diploma from The Rayen School, then succeeded in graduating from Penn-Ohio Business College as well as Renee School of Cosmetology. Afterwards, she became an ordained minister of the World Christianship Ministries by the Reverend Elizabeth Powell.
She volunteered for the Womens Ministerial Alliance. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Stars, Daughter of Jerusalem McGuffey Heights Counsel. She was a band minister of music for several congregations in the Youngstown and surrounding areas.
She is survived by her husband, James Scott; her children, Alvin Wallace, Annie Fussell and Ardessa Wright; her siblings, George Wallace of Denver, Audrey Wallace of Columbus, Lillie (Jean-Postell) Thompson of Dayton, Robert Gibson of Georgia, Jerome Gibson of Youngstown, Michael Gibson of Orlando, Fla. and Norman Gibson of Georgia; her god-daughter, Marvaline Marrow of Cleveland; 17 grandchildren, two of which she raised and brought personal guidance to Joseph Holt and Tarrence Thigpen; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren as well as several other relatives and friends.
Due to her monumental amount of love and goodness of heart, the majority of her community, as well as areas as far as Western Pennsylvania to Columbus, was impacted by her positive actions and care giving.
Besides her parents, Pastor Scott was preceded in death by her sister, Nina (Young) Wallace; brothers, Arnold and Walter Wallace; and her grandson, Alvin Wallace Jr.
Friends may call Saturday, April 25, 2009, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the One Hundred Twenty C.O.G.I.C in Youngstown. Funeral services will follow immediately at 10 a.m. at the church.

Margaret Marge (Getz) Surgoine
TAMPA, FLA. Margaret Marge (Getz) Surgoine went to her heavenly home on April 12, 2009.
She was born April 18, 1935 to Samuel and Margaret Getz.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Heather) Surgoine of Riverview, Fla.; daughter Sharon Surgoine of Virginia; three granddaughters of Riverview; former husband, William Surgoine of West Virginia; brother, Samuel (Bernice) Getz of Canfield; and sisters, Helen Steele of Youngstown and Kathy Rhoads and Kay Norton, both of Tampa.
A memorial service was held at the Tampa Elks Lodge No. 708 in Tampa.
Burial will be in West Virginia at a later date.
Elizabeth Ethel Toth-Vrankovich, 82
BROOKFIELD Mrs. Elizabeth Ethel Toth-Vrankovich, 82, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at 10:45 a.m. at the Sharon Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Elizabeth was born in Sharon, Pa. on Jan. 5, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Holic) Toth.
She had attended Sharon High School, and following, married Frank Vrankovich on June 7, 1946. Together they shared 56 years of marriage.
In her earlier years, she had worked as a store clerk, but mainly she had been a homemaker and took loving care of her family. In her free time she had enjoyed working puzzles, taking care of her pets and loved to play bingo.
Elizabeth was of the Catholic faith and had attended church at St. Patricks Church in Hubbard.
Mrs. Vrankovich is survived by three sons, Frank Vrankovich Jr. of Brookfield, George Vrankovich and his wife, Kate of Coitsville and Rick Vrankovich and his wife, Debbie of Hartford; two daughters, Bonita Bonnie Maykowski and her husband, Richard of Florida and Sharon Simion and her husband, Jim of Hubbard; her brother, George Toth of Hermitage, Pa.; and five grandchildren, JR Maykowski, Traci Spitaletta, Megan Bell, Casey Vrankovich and Debbie Simion. Three great-grandchildren, Gianna Spitaletta, Mia Spitaletta and Teagan Bell also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, on Jan. 16, 2003; her three brothers, John, Joseph and Andrew; and by her four sisters, Helen, Verona, Anne and Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Brookfield Township Cemetery.

Joseph F. Vasko Sr.
BOARDMAN Joseph F. Vasko Sr., passed away Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown following a brief illness.
Joseph was born July 5, 1930 in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Magdalena Kadvan Vasko, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Vasko was a 1948 graduate of Chaney High School, and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He worked for 40 years as a painter in the automotive industry, first for Youngstown Buick and then for Auto Dynamics, retiring in the mid-1990s.
Joseph was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman. He was an avid bowler and fisherman, and enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was also a birdwatcher, was a member of the Birmingham Rollers Pigeon Club, enjoyed gardening and looked forward to planting his garden each year. Most of all, Joe enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
Mr. Vasko leaves his beloved wife, Catherine Kusalaba Vasko, whom he married June 28, 1958 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph F. Vasko Jr. and Doralene Vasko of Boardman; his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Robert Smitek of Elyria; five grandchildren, Steven, Matthew and Michael Vasko and Kaycee and Abagail Smitek; a sister, Mary (John) Pavlak of Youngstown; and six nieces and nephews, John, James and Kenneth Pavlak, John C. Sakalosh, Sandra Mitchell and Karen Blumling.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home, and continue at 12:30 p.m. at St. Charles Church.

YOUNGSTOWN There will be a Funeral Liturgy held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Byzantine Church, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave. in Youngstown, with the Rev. Richard Lambert officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman, for Sandra Zatchok, 85, who peacefully passed away on Tuesday evening, April 21, 2009.
Sandra will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends.
She was born March 23, 1924 in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Assunta (Novelli) Natale and was a lifelong area resident.
Sandra was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother.
She was a member of St. Marys Byzantine Church and retired from the Youngstown City School System.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, volunteering at St. Anthony Church, where she helped with the Pizza and Easter Bread Sales, but she mostly loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Sandra leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories, her husband of over 58 years, Emil Zatchok, whom she married Nov. 11, 1950; a daughter, Janet (Richard) Detwiler of Boardman; three grandchildren, Courtney (Eric) Hayden of Huntsville, Ala., Scott (Megan) Detwiler of Jupiter, Fla. and Kimberly Detwiler of Cleveland; two sisters, Louise (Samuel) Chicarelli of Youngstown and Frances (Nicholas) Bahny of Austintown; a grand dog Miss Molly; several nieces, (especially Antonia Douglass) and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; two sisters, Amelia Ross and Antoinette Natale; and two brothers, Frank and Floyd Natale.
Friends may call on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman, where a Panachida Prayer Service will take place at 4:45 p.m.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
