William Glenn Brubaker, 84
AUSTINTOWN Private services were held for William Glenn Brubaker, 84, who passed away Friday morning at Greenbriar Nursing Care Center.
Bill was born March 26, 1925, in Altoona, Pa., the son of Donald L. and Elda M. (Estep) Brubaker.
He was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1943, and served in the 95th Infantry with the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Germany.
Bill worked as a computer service representative with IBM until his retirement in 1987. Bill, along with his wife, were owners of LaPlume Cattery, where they raised and showed Scottish Fold Cats. He was a member of the Cat Fanciers Association and the 95th Infantry Division Association. His hobbies included computers and reading mystery novels.
Bill leaves his wife, the former Patricia Ray, whom he married April 9, 1966; two children, Roxanne Heitkamp of New Haven, Ind., and Paul Brubaker of Oakton, Va.; one sister, June Brubaker of Altoona; and four grandchildren, Therrin, Reece, Jackson and Gavin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There were no calling hours.

Herbert C. Campfield, 82
CANFIELD Herbert C. Campfield, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, following a one-week illness.
Born in Niles on April 23, 1927, to the late Arthur B. and Vern (Webb) Campfield, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Campfield Rice.
Herb retired in 1990 from Linde Hydraulics of Canfield. He was a member of the Old North Church, also of Canfield, and an Eagle Scout and graduated from Niles High School, where he lettered in football, track and basketball. He went on to graduate in 1951 with a Masters degree in engineering from Purdue University, where he was an All-American fullback lettering in 1948 and 1950. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Her is survived by his wife, Ruth (Brink) Campfield, to whom he was married May 21,1955; two sons, Clay, husband of Lana Eddy-Campfield of Canfield, and A. Dudley Campfield, husband of Christine; one granddaughter, Jennifer Ruth of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Adelle Madison, wife of Stacy; four grandsons, Shawn Scott, Jesse Clay, Braxton Jack and Evan Ray of Canfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road in Canfield on Tuesday, April 28 at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Fennell officiating.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday, April 28 at the church.

POLAND Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Martha O. Daily, 97, formerly of Youngstown, who passed away Friday afternoon at Omni Manor Assisted Living Center.
Martha was born June 8, 1911, in Youngstown, the daughter of Anton and Pauline Orsary.
She graduated from Youngstown College School of Business and worked as a secretary for the Youngstown Board of Education for more than 25 years. Martha was a former member of the Holy Family Parish, and was also a former member of the Optiqueens, and S.E.R. System. Martha also enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Humphrey, whom she married June 30, 1938, and he passed away Sept. 21, 1956, Michael Walsh, whom she married Nov. 18, 1961, and he passed away June 7, 1972 and James Daily, whom she married Oct. 18, 1977, and he passed away Aug. 4, 1981.
Martha leaves one sister, Louise Hasbrouck of Poland, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands and parents, Martha was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Eynon and one bother, Valentine Orsary.

Paul Irvin Emch
VALLEY COTTAGE, N.Y. Paul Irvin Emch went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 5, 2009.
Born July 22, 1918, Paul was raised in Youngstown.
He graduated from Youngstown State University and received his Masters from Williams College. Having relocated to New York, he worked for Union Carbides Linde Division for more than 40 years as a research chemist, college recruiter, and director of salary administration.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Marie Emch of Youngstown; his beloved wife, Anne; his brother, Gerald Emch; and his sister, Ruth Jardine.
He is survived by his sister, Mildred Bell of Boardman; his four children, Suzanne E. Sabini, Sherry M. Emch, Brian D. Emch (Adrienne) and Scott E. Emch (Mary Anne); and his seven grandchildren, Kaylee Sabini, Paul, Leah and Caroline Brandt, Christopher Emch and David and Rebecca Emch; and many loving friends and relatives.
A member of the New Hempstead Presbyterian Church in New City, N.Y., for over 50 years, Paul held various church offices and found special joy as a member of the choir. He was also active in community service during his retirement, serving as a volunteer at Nyack Hospital and at a breakfast program in Spring Valley, N.Y.
A good-humored man of deep faith, Paul made frequent trips to visit family. He was an avid gardener, lover of classical music, and enjoyed reading and fishing. He will be remembered for his ever-positive outlook, grateful spirit, and for being the consummate gentleman.
Ethel Mae Finch, 99
CANFIELD Services will be at noon on Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Ethel Mae Finch, 99, who passed away Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.
Mae was born Feb. 2, 1910, in Elyria, the daughter of Albert and Emily (Edwards) Harrison.
She was a musician with the Fran Lee Trio and the Evelyn Blake Orchestra, as well as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mae was a member of the Second Church of Christ Scientist, were she was secretary for organizations in the church, its flower arranging and also worked in its library. Mae was also a member of the Musicians Local 87, and a former member of the Sweet Adelines. She was also associated with the American, Pennsylvania and Central Florida Brittany Clubs.
Mae leaves two sons, D. Paul (Bonnie) Finch of Salem and Carl D. (Ann) Finch of Panama City Fla.; one sister, Evelyn Blake of Austintown; four grandsons, William P. (Patty) Finch of Akron, Douglas Finch of Panama City, Kevin M. Finch of Austintown and Andrew S. (Sarah) Finch of Columbiana; as well as one great-granddaughter, Brooke Shelby Finch of Panama City.
Besides her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Del Finch, whom she married June 29, 1934, and he passed away Aug. 22, 1994; one granddaughter, Rebecca Finch; and four brothers, Dennis, Lionel, Jim and Clarence Harrison.

Philip E. Flickinger, 74
YOUNGSTOWN There are no services or calling hours for Philip E. Flickinger, 74, who died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
He was born Feb. 21, 1935, in McKinley Heights, a son of George William and Adeline (Hamell) Flickinger.
He worked for several years as a press operator for the former Benada, now Easco Aluminum, before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Army National Guard.
He resided in Casselman, Pa. for several years before returning to this area. During his time there, he served as a Councilman and Civil Defense Coordinator.
He was a member of the Youngstown Police Auxiliary. He also enjoyed racing model cars, and was an avid CB radio enthusiast.
He married the former Judy Eckman on Oct. 8, 1954, and she preceded him in death Jan. 10, 2005.
He is survived by five children, Janet Flickinger of Youngstown, Philip (Corrine) Flickinger of Cleveland, Tom (Miriam) Flickinger of Orlando, Fla., Glenn Scott (Rose) Flickinger of Youngstown and Kathy Falcon of Flint, Mich. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, including Thomas and Cristofer Falcon, whom he helped to raise; three great-grandsons; a brother, Edward Flickinger of Buffalo, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Edith Todie Flickinger of Leavittsburg.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Matthew J. and Frank E. Flickinger; three brothers, Donald, Robert and William; and two sisters, Edith Boyle and Mary Katherine Flickinger.

Marjorie J. Kidston
YOUNGSTOWN Private services will be held Monday at the Shriver-Allison-Courtley-Weller-King Funeral home for Marjorie J. Kidston, who passed away Friday, April 24, 2009.
Mrs. Kidston was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Youngstown, the daughter of Evan W. and Dessa Sprague Jones.
She was married to the late A. Irvine Kidston on June 6, 1928 until his death Dec. 14, 1978.
A 1924 graduate of South High School, Mrs. Kidston was active in many organizations throughout her lifetime. She was a life member of St. John Episcopal Church, a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Womens Relief Corp Affiliate of Grand Army of the Republic, St. Davids Society, Youngstown Symphony Society, National Audubon Society and the Mahoning Valley Historical Society. She also was a volunteer at the Well Baby Clinic.
Mrs. Kidston was an ardent supporter of Mill Creek MetroParks, caring especially for children and visitors with special needs. Her legacy at Fellows Riverside Gardens is the graceful and accessible to all Kidston Pavilion. Mrs. Kidston also provided funds for a unique classroom which overlooks the beauty of Lake Glacier and the Gardens.
She also supported Chaney High School and Leonard Kirtz School. She established the Mr. and Mrs. A. Irvine Kidston Scholarship Fund at Chaney High School for Chaney graduates to use for first-year studies at Youngstown State University. She also provided 200 choir robes for the Chaney High School Choral Music department in memory of her husband. Her generosity benefited the Chaney Library in memory of A. Irvine Kidston. Mrs. Kidston also supported the Mahoning County Leonard Kirtz School with the purchase of several computers and other equipment used by students to improve their communications skills.
Local family members surviving Mrs. Kidston are Kathy Kidston of Boardman and Robert Kidston of Poland.
Mrs. Kidston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter; a sister, Norma Jones; and brothers William Owen Jones and Philip Sprague Jones.

Ludmilla Krogulski, 87
POLAND Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Mrs. Ludmilla Krogulski, 87, who died Friday night at her residence.
She was born May 3, 1921, in Russia, spent her childhood in Poland and in 1951, immigrated to the United States with her husband.
She retired from the State of Michigan, where she was a comptroller. In the 1980s, she moved to the Youngstown area to help raise her grandchildren.
She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Piotr Krugulski, whom she married in 1947 and who died Feb. 23, 2002.
She is survived by her two daughters, Daira (Roger) Beeson of Arlington, Va., and Jo (Pete) Bennett of Canfield; two grandchildren, Morgan and Lauren Bennett; and a sister, Ruth Koch of Brunswick.

Grace Delores Mansfield
GIRARD Grace Delores Mansfield passed away peacefully with her family at her side April 25 at Hospice of the Valley after a brief illness.
She was born June 29, 1920, in Youngstown, the daughter of Edward and Julia (Doyle) Howley.
She was a graduate of East High School and later worked for General Electric. Her greatest enjoyment was her family and being a homemaker. Grace resided at the high-rise in Girard where she served as secretary for eight years and was involved in card ministry and sacristan for first Friday Mass.
She was a member of St. Rose Parish and had a special devotion to St. Theresa. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles, game shows, cooking and garage sales. She didnt travel but had a wide circle of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell Mansfield, who died Nov. 16, 1973; six brothers, Leo, Louis, Francis, Edward, Thomas and Eugene; one sister, Mary Conroy; and a granddaughter, Mary Grace Boughner.
Grace will be dearly missed by two sons, Russell (Maggie) Mansfield of Girard and Dennis (Clare) Mansfield of Youngstown; and one daughter, Susan (Donald) Boughner of McDonald. She also has two stepchildren, Marlene Tobin and Larry Mansfield. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Don, David, Amy, Elizabeth, Katie, Shawn and Eric; five great-grandchildren, Carly, Ben, Layla, Ian and Dylan, and one due in August.

CAMPBELL Anna Maruschak, 97, passed away April 20, 2009 at her daughters home.
Mrs. Maruschak was born June 17, 1911, in Pottstown, Pa., the daughter of John and Paraska Lastowsky Luchka.
Anna married Andrew Maruschak on Nov. 3, 1934, and resided in Yonkers, N.Y., most of her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mary (Joseph) Matvey of Campbell, with whom she made her home for the past four years; a son, Steven (Marilyn) Maruschak of Connecticut; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Andrew Luchka; and a special granddaughter, Kathy, who helped take care of her Baba.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Andrew Jr.; a grandson, Mark Matvey; one brother; and one sister.
Services and burial were held in Yonkers on Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home.

C. Gordon Scull, 61
CANFIELD - A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at noon at the Holy Family Church in Poland for C. Gordon Scull, 61, who died Friday afternoon after a brief illness.
Gordon was born March 10, 1948, in St. Marys, Pa., the son of Charles E. and Almeda R. Hanes Scull.
He was a 1966 graduate of Elk County Christian High School and in 1970 graduated with a degree in finance from St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa. He later earned the Chartered Life Underwriter designation from the American College. He entered the Insurance business in 1992 and was a career agent with Ohio National Financial Services for 15 years. In May of 2007, he joined the New York Life Insurance Company.
He was an active member of Holy Family Church and its choir, was currently serving as the President of the Mahoning-Shenango Chapter of Financial Service Professionals and as a member and trustee of the Mahoning-Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council. He also served as a trustee of the Westside Merchants.
Gordon was an avid trap shooter, a longtime member of the Vienna Fish and Game Club and a member an officer of the local chapter of the Friends of the NRA.
He is survived by his fiance, Janet ONeal, and her daughter, Erin ONeal of Canfield; four daughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Albrecht of Massillon, Rebecca Scull of Poland, Rachael (Randy) Smith of Canfield and Erin (Christopher) Denison of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Mary Lynn (David) Nicklas of St. Marys, Pa., Fern (William) Tuberson of St. Marys, Pa., and Elizabeth (Mark) Woydick of Johnston, Pa.; a brother, George (Karen) Scull of Kersey, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Nathan and Margaret Albrecht and Randy Smith Jr. and Cameron and Chloe Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas Tom Smith
TAMPA, FLA. Thomas Tom Smith died April 7, in Florida, following his battle with cancer.
He was born in Kokomo, Ind., in 1938, to Charles and Floris Smith.
His life with his parents and brother took him to Indianapolis, Lakewood, Ohio, and Youngstown. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1956 and entered the Navy after high school. He enrolled in Youngstown State University School of Engineering after his discharge in 1959, graduating in 1965 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. He retired from IBM after 30 years, during which he worked in Youngstown, New Jersey and Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny; his mother, Floris; his daughters, Debra, Doreen, Crystal, Cathy and their husbands and 15 grandchildren; his aunt, Frances and uncle LaRue; his brother, Mike; and brother-in-law, Roger.
A family service was held at his home in Tampa. He was cremated.
James Albert Stevens Sr., 89
CORTLAND Mr. James Albert Stevens Sr., 89, formerly of Vienna, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 12:35 a.m. at Lake Vista in Cortland after a brief illness.
James was born in Struthers on Aug. 20, 1919, a son of the late Harry William and Laura B. (Morris) Stevens Sr.
He was a graduate of Vienna High School, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II. His decorations and citations include the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Following the war, he went on to marry the former Bonnie Woodruff of Mineral Ridge on Aug. 21, 1949. Together they would share 48 years of marriage.
Mr. Stevens had worked as a machinist for ITT Grinnell for more than 25 years before his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, he had enjoyed time being a piano tuner. He was a member of the Vienna Assembly of God.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his son, James A. Stevens Jr. and wife Diane of Cortland, and by his son-in-law, Paul Willis of Idaho; five grandchildren, Jessica Fulton, Kyle Willis, Katie Willis, Zachary Stevens and Andrew Stevens; and one great-grandson, Cody Willis.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter Phyllis Willis; seven brothers; and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 28, 2009, at the Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.

SHALLOTTE, N.C. Mr. Frederick George Wagner, 82, of Robin Road, died Friday, April 24, 2009.
Mr. Wagner was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Youngstown, and was the son of the late Frank and Blanche Sinerian Wagner.
He retired from the steel manufacturing industry. He moved to Shallotte, N.C. in 1996. He was a Mason and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by three daughters, Alicia Shields of Wickenburg, Ariz., Betty Eason of fountain Inn, S.C. and Debbie Koeller of Southport, N.C.; a brother, Edwin Wagner of Brookville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

William J. Bill Williams, 87
CLEARWATER, FLA. William J. Bill Williams, 87, a former 50-year Canfield resident and owner of Williams Funeral Home, died April 23.
He was born Oct. 3, 1922.
He was past president of Canfield Kiwanis and American Legion Commander at the Canfield Post. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 400th Bomb Group and later the 8th Armored Division during World War II. He was a volunteer fireman for more than 30 years at the Canfield Station.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rosalie Williams (Burrows); son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Marie Williams; grandsons Scott of Surfside Beach, S.C.and Ross and wife Jennifer; great-granddaughter Ella of Goshen, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Polly and Blaine Meyers; granddaughter Sydney of Olympia, Wash.; stepson Michael Burrows; and granddaughter Bailey of Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Jane A. Williams (Stiver), and his brother, David H. Williams.

Nayef C. Zarour, 65
BOARDMAN The funeral service for Nayef C. Zarour, 65, will be held Monday at noon in the Masjid Al-Khair Mosque on Homewood Avenue.
Nayef was born Feb. 5, 1944, in El-Marj, Lebanon, and came to this area in 1972. He was a son of Chafic and Badr Darwish Zarour.
He was a business owner and operated the Golden Food Mart in Austintown.
He was an active member of the Mosque and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandson.
He is survived, among others, by his wife, the former Fayza Ibrihim, whom he married July 12, 1978; a son, Wessam Zarour of Youngstown; a daughter, Suzie Shalash of Canfield; a grandson, Ali Shalash, also of Canfield; and a brother, Jamil Zarour of Austintown.
