Rebecca Hayes Bond, 67
CLEWISTON, FLA. Rebecca Hayes Bond, 67, passed away April 29, 2009.
Rebecca was born Feb. 5, 1942 in Marmaduke, Ark., the daughter of the late William Houston and Martha Jane Stovall Thomas.
She married Wilbur Hayes, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1996, she then married Lester Bond, and he survives.
Rebecca worked for many years as a medical secretary.
Also surviving are her children, Steve Hayes and wife Ladawn of Clewiston, Stan Hayes and wife Laura of Loxahatchee, Stephanie Robertson and husband James of Clewiston, Donna Moore and husband Frank of Clewiston and Deborah Witt and husband John of Clewiston; grandchildren, Steven and wife Gabby, Kelli, Alise, Chelsa, Maranda, Travis, Davis, Hannah, Ramsey and Haylee; and great-grandchildren, Victoria and Liliana.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the Evangel Assembly of God Church in Clewiston with Pastor Gary Corley officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Akin-Davis Funeral Home in Clewiston, and one hour before services at the church on Friday, May 1, 2009.
Daniel Creatura, 66
AUSTINTOWN Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Schiavone Funeral Home for Daniel Creatura, 66, who died April 28, after a long illness.
Mr. Creatura was born Sept. 9, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of Daniel Sr. and Mary Scarpine Creatura.
He grew up in the Briar Hill community, where he served as an altar boy at St. Anthonys Catholic Church. He later moved with his family to Youngstown. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Creatura retired in 1989 from General Motors in Lordstown, where he was employed about 25 years. He enjoyed body-building and often ran the trails in Mill Creek Park. His favorite place to travel was to Niagra Falls.
Following retirement, he became a wood craftsman and artist, painting and making many gifts, such as clocks and wall-hangings for friends and family. He also studied horticulture and became a master gardener and a member of the Ohio Master Gardener Volunteer Program, serving the Canfield Fair and caring for plants and flowers at the fairground gardens. At home he nurtured many plants and flower gardens in the yard while keeping his dogs, Maxine and Honeybear, at his side.
Mr. Creatura leaves his wife, the former Louise Evich, whom he married Oct. 30, 1968; a daughter, Miss Deana Louise Creatura at home; a son, Adam Daniel (Aimee) Creatura of Howland; a grandson, Adam Jr.; two sisters, Maryann (Terry) Weinell of Wexford, Pa. and Bonnie (Wayne) Verdinek of Austintown; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, who are deceased, a brother, John P. Creatura, died on Jan. 15, 2008.

Mary B. Dodd, 89
LOWELLVILLE There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1, at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 East Wood St. in Youngstown, with the Rev. Nicholas Mancini celebrating for Mary B. Dodd, 89, who passed away Monday evening, April 27.
Mary was born June 25, 1919 in Youngstown, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Matinick) Markovich. She was a graduate of East High School and was a homemaker.
Her husband, Franklin S. Dodd, whom she married Nov. 12, 1940, passed away April 15, 1994.
Mary will always be remembered by her two children, Diane Dodd and Franklin (Patricia) Dodd, both of Lowellville; eight grandchildren, Franklin (Cheryl) Dodd, David (Tonya) Dodd, Colleen (Arthur) Vallas, Mary (Charles) Sinclair, Joseph (Heather) Dodd, Tammi (Guido) Jannetti, Ronald (Kristi) Williams and Mark (Katie) Williams; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Victor J. Eck, 88
Together Again
CAMPBELL Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy Church, for Victor J. Eck, 88, who passed away Tuesday morning at Greenbriar Care Center.
Victor was born Nov. 10, 1920 in Struthers, the son of Victor C. and Bertha Bodnar Eck and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a U.S. veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.
For over 35 years, Mr. Eck worked in retail sales at various local home improvement and sporting good stores.
He was a member of the church, the Struthers VFW and also a member of the Civil Defense Corps, where he served as an auxiliary fireman for the city of Campbell. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and crossword puzzles and as a hobby, he would buy and repair homes for resale.
His wife the former Margaret Maggie DeSanto, whom he married Nov. 11, 1950, passed away on July 22, 2001.
Victor leaves to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in-law, Victor N. (Theresa) Eck of New Middletown; two grandchildren, Dr. Heather C. Eck of Columbus and Karl V. Eck of New Middletown; two stepsisters, Margaret Endsley of Struthers and Alice Stretzinger of Howell, Mich.; two brothers-in-law, Atty. Joseph DeSanto of Poland and Atty. Tony (Jane) DeSanto of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four stepsisters, Katherine Kelly, Isabelle Miller, Julia Eck and Margaret Myers; and three sisters-in-law, Antoinette, Mary and Ester DeSanto.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Greenbriar Nursing Home for their compassion and care.

Larry S. Elswick, 58
LORDSTOWN Larry S. Elswick, 58, passed away peacefully at his home 10:38 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, following a short illness.
He was born April 4, 1951 in Charleston, W.Va., the son of Elisha Elwood and Geneva (Carpenter) Elswick.
Larry was employed at General Motors Lordstown for 33 years, retiring as a materials handler, and by St. Moritz Security of Youngstown as an Ohio Peace Officer. He also was a general contractor for many years, assisting senior citizens with home improvement needs through SCOPE.
An animal lover, Larry served two years as president of Cats Are People Too and assisted Best Friends, rescuing animals in New Orleans following hurricane Katrina.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene J. (Foreman) Elswick, whom he married Feb. 17, 1996; three sons, Jeremy Elswick and companion, Tracy of Warren, Jonathan R. Bland of Windham and William R. Bland of Hubbard; two daughters, Jennetta Double and fiancé, Barry Bulford of Johnson, Jodi (Mark) Foster of Ft. Stewart, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billman and Elwood; and a sister, Betty Jo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Pastor Samson Murry Jr. will officiate.
Interment will be at Pineview Memorial Park.

HUBBARD There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Youngstown for Pauline C. Gleydura, 88, who passed away Tuesday at Liberty Health Care Center.
Pauline was born Sept. 20, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of Stanley and Adelaide Burns Potock, and came to Hubbard in 1941.
She worked at Hills Department Store in Lincoln Knolls Plaza at the service desk for 14 years. She was a member of Hubbard VFW Post 3767 Ladies Auxiliary and the Hudson Car Club since 1963. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Youngstown.
Her husband, Charles P. Gleydura Sr., whom she married Jan. 14, 1941, passed away Feb. 23, 1992.
She is survived by her sons, Charles P. (Sheila) Gleydura Jr. of Sparta, Ga. and Thomas M. (Karen) Gleydura of Hubbard; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Michael Potock of Girard and a sister, Patricia Greenstone of Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sisters, Mary Louise Martin, Madonna Bernice Potock, Lenore Malatok and an infant sister, Margaret.
There are no calling hours.

AUSTINTOWN There will be a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Idaho Road Alliance Church for Dorothy M. Henkel, 85, who passed away Wednesday morning at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Dorothy was born June 28, 1923 in Conway, Pa., a daughter of the late Raphael C. and Mary (Bartholew) Barto.
She was a very active member of the Idaho Road Alliance Church.
Dorothys husband, George E. Henkel, whom she married Feb. 25, 1942, passed away Aug. 8, 1990.
She is survived by three children, Bruce D. (Jackie) Henkel of Dayton and their children, Mark and Erin, Dr. Craig K. (Janice) Henkel of Winston-Salem, N.C. and their children, Brian and Jason, and Wendy (Donald) Sternburg of Columbiana and their children, Gary and Kimberly; one brother, Weldon Barto of Sewickley, Pa.; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Barto.

SOUTHINGTON Richard P. Yambor Kasunic, Sr., 73, passed away on April 23, 2009 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
He was born April 18, 1936 in Cleveland to the late Julius and Rita (Garay) Yambor.
Richard is retired from General Motors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandi of Southington, whom he married Aug. 29, 1987; stepmother, Matilda Yambor of New Smyrna Beach, Fla; son, Richard P. (Darleen) Kasunic Jr. of Macedonia; daughter, Debra (Rick) Travers of Vail, Colo; brother, Sonny Yambor of New Smyrna Beach, Fla; sisters, Lois (Tom) Muraco of Solon, JoAnne Yambor of Willoughby and Georgann (Keith) Perrotti of Santee, Calif; and grandchildren, Ashlee, Heather, Tommy, Danny and Joey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mathew Kasunic.
A celebration of Richards life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at The Church in Aurora, 146 S. Chillicothe Road, Aurora, OH 44202, followed by a reception at The Bertram Inn.

YOUNGSTOWN Stella Linden, 84, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman after becoming ill at home.
Stella was born Sept. 14, 1924 in Campbell, a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Rosalia Michno Kupiec, and was a lifelong area resident.
She attended Campbell Memorial High School, was a homemaker, and worked at the General Electric Mazda Lamp Plant for 15 years. She subsequently worked at the Voyager Hotel and at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Linden was of the Catholic faith. She liked to bowl and was a member of several area bowling leagues. She enjoyed crocheting, and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Stellas husband, Michael Linden, whom she married May 7, 1949, passed away May 31, 1990.
Stella leaves four children, James (Carol) Linden of Niles, John (Polly) Linden of Hubbard, Kenneth (Elaine) Linden of Canfield and Janet (Scott) Griffith of Salem; 12 grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Shiloh Linden, Shane and Shasta Linden, Karl, Emily and Sp. 5 Richard Miller, Lance Linden, Kelly Bobovnik and Nicholas, Erin, Jeremiah and Ethan Griffith; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Dorothy) Kupiec of New Bedford, Pa. and Henry (Alyce) Kupiec of Antioch, Calif.; and two sisters, Helen (John) Mijavec of New Bedford and Rose (Mike) Miklus of The Villages, Fla.
Besides her husband, a granddaughter, Shelby Linden and four brothers, Frank, Johnny, Joey and Stanley Kupiec are deceased.

AUSTINTOWN - Stella L. Paolone, 78, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 29, 2009, at Hospice House in Poland Township.
Stella was born May 8, 1930 in Johnstown, Pa., a daughter of the late Robert and Lilly Jones Meckes, and came to this area as a child in 1940.
She was a homemaker and a member of The Salvation Army, its Home League and League of Mercy, and volunteered for many of the organizations functions.
Mrs. Paolones husband, Angelo Paolone, whom she married July 8, 1951, passed away Sept. 30, 1992.
Stella leaves two sons, Anthony Paolone of Poland and Samuel Paolone of Youngstown; two daughters, Stella (Douglas) McGuire of Richmond Heights and Rosemary Gallagher of Struthers; a sister, Hazel Ferguson of Youngstown; two brothers, Carl (Avis) Meckes of Pittsview, Ala. and Robert (Dolly) Meckes of Girard; and 12 grandchildren.
Stella will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Ramsey was born Oct. 11, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of John S. and Hazel Halter Harber.
She was a 1944 graduate of Chaney High School. Dorothy retired in 1997 from Subway (Market St. Store) after 10 years. She was a former member of the Boardman United Methodist Church and its Ladies Circle.
Her favorite pasttime was cooking and baking for her family and friends.
Her husband, Robert W. Ramsey, whom she married Feb. 7, 1944, died in 1980.
Surviving her are three daughters and sons-in-law, Diana L. and Jack Parillo of Austintown, Kathy L. and Andy Tesyk of Youngstown and Carol and Mark Stengel of Alpharetta, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Wendy Ramsey of Rome, Ga.; a sister, Sarah J. Corey of Boardman; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; also her friend, Carl Lukashik and her special friends at her apartment complex.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents, is a brother, John R. Harber; and two sisters, Alice J. Menard and Frances Harber.

Mary was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Trenton, N.J., a daughter of John and Anna Dostal Smrecansky.
She married Frank R. Repaskey on June 30, 1945, and was an excellent homemaker. She was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.
Mary leaves behind her son, Ronald R. (Joann) Repaskey of Austintown; a daughter, Denise M. Repaskey of Poland; two brothers, John (Rose) Smrecansky of Youngstown and Robert (Dorothy) Smrecansky of Boardman; one sister, Cel (Bill) Paris of Hubbard; four sisters-in-law, Theresa Smrecansky, Bertha Smrecansky , Dorothy Repasky and Dorothy Loshuck; one brother-in-law, Mike Cossack; an aunt, Sister Elaine Dostal; three grandchildren, Richard Repaskey and fiancée Eva, Jennifer (Stuart) Repaskey McMullan and Laura (Brian) Repaskey Kirby; and four great-grandchildren, Casimir, Aristeo, Jared and Jeremy.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, who died Jan. 11, 1992; three brothers, Johnny, Joseph and Frank; and one sister, Ann Hessler.

Don was born Jan. 27, 1942 in Fairmont, W.Va., a son of the late Tilden and Opal (Stuart) Sanson.
A graduate of East Fairmont High School, he retired in 2001 from General Motors in Lordstown, after 30 years of service and was a member of the UAW 1112. He enjoyed participating in and going to car shows. He also loved watching western movies, and most of all loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, the former Janice Ann Kline, whom he married Nov. 1, 1964; three children, Jeffrey K. Sanson of Hubbard, Joseph S (Angela). Sanson of McDonald and Jason T. (Becky) Sanson of Delaware; one brother, Tilden Sanson of Austintown; and six grandchildren, Allison, Chelsea, Olivia, Joshua, Kyle and Zachary Sanson.
Besides his parents, Don is preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Thomas Sanson.

Hallie M. Stewart
YOUNGSTOWN A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Hallie M. Stewart will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Victory Lutheran Church with the Rev. Hosea L. Ekong officiating.
Mrs. Stewart was born June 3, 1919 in Youngstown, a daughter of Preston and Ella Sophia Duff Johnson.
She graduated from the Dearborn School of Catering in Chicago, along with her husband, Cameron H. Stewart. She was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her time to her husband and children. She was the owner of Hallie Stewarts Catering, a business she operated for over 30 years. She provided catering services for a number of Jewish synagogues, including the Ohev TzeDek in Boardman. She was honored in 1962 by the BNai Brith as business women of the year. She was the manager of Stewarts Copper Fox and the Delightful Restaurant, which were owned by her children.
She was a member of the church and she served as former president of the Lutheran Women Missionary League, former Sunday school teacher and chairman of the food bank. She was involved with various projects that brought Broadway plays to Powers Auditorium. She enjoyed writing poetry and spending time with her family.
On April 25, 2009, our heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto St. Elizabeth Health Center and beckoned her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, whom she married Aug. 28, 1939; her daughter, Marthella and her husband, Ronald Allen and her three sons, James and his wife, Rosalind Stewart, Jerald and his wife, Earlene Stewart, all of Youngstown and Dane and his wife, Rita Stewart of Spring, Texas ; her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Stewart of Youngstown; two sisters-in law, Naomi Stewart Johnson of Hollywood, Calif. and Mary Howell Johnson of Youngstown; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents; five brothers, Preston, Oscar, James, Frank and Paris Johnson; two sisters, Ella Malcolm and Marjorie Wilkerson; and her son, Cameron L. Stewart.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Washington Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

Roger Lee Waychoff
LAKEWOOD, COLO. A memorial service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Area A, in Denver for Roger Lee Waychoff, who passed away April 26, 2009.
Roger was a Vietnam war hero and was awarded two Bronze Stars in the service of his country. He was a warrior from birth to death. John Paul Jack Wire, 81
YOUNGSTOWN Jack Wire, 81, passed away on April 28, 2009, in Washington, DC, where he was visiting.
He was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Youngstown to Elizabeth (Seidel) Wire and John Cleveland Wire, both deceased.
Jack graduated from The Rayen School in 1946, and from Youngstown State University in 1958. He served in Korea from 1950 to 1951, retiring in 1970 as an army reservist.
On April 23, 2009, he received the Presidential Achievement Award for 5,525 volunteer hours over 10 years in service to the Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic. From 2003 to 2008, he drove the VA van to Iowa with blind veterans for their annual VA National Golf Tournament.
Surviving are his three children, John Clifford of Cleveland, Gale Elizabeth Wire of Floral City, Fla. and Edward Lynn of Charleston, S.C.
Jack was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W.
He will be remembered for his relentless service to others, and his persistence as a social director for any group, his family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the YAIG Home office, 4409 Mahoning Ave. in Austintown on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at 3 p.m.

Betty Jane Yacovone, 81
LAKE MILTON A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Fr. Stephen Popovich officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Betty Jane Yacovone, 81, who passed away at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Humility House in Austintown.
Betty Jane was born June 27, 1927 in Campbell, the daughter of the late Cosmo and Anna (Crano) Rich, and was a 1946 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.
Betty Jane was a homemaker, and in the 1970s, was a food service worker with the Jackson Milton School district for several years. Prior to her marriage, she also worked as a clerk at the Mahoning County Courthouse.
Betty Jane is survived by her husband of 59 years, Nick E. Yacovone, whom she married Sept. 10, 1949, and together they shared three children, Randall A. (Rose Ann) Yacovone of Pittsburgh, Lynette M. (Richard) Cadle of North Jackson and Debra A. (James) Steinhaus of Columbus and three grandchildren, Corbin Steinhaus, Anne Marie Cadle and Christine Steinhaus. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Patrick (Eleanor) Rich of Akron and Dr. Robert (Phyllis) Richiutti of Poland.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Lesko.
Family will receive friends today, April 30, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
The family suggest that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Rich Center for Autism.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Humility House for their care and concern that they showed to Betty Jane and her family.
