John E. Barb, 92
BOARDMAN A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Church in Boardman for John E. Barb, 92, who passed away Saturday evening.
John was born Nov. 13, 1916 in Youngstown, a son of George and Savina Pitici Barb and was a lifelong area resident.
John retired in 1979 from Republic Steel, where he worked as a heater in the Bar Mill. He was a member of the church and the Friday Niners Bowling League. John was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific.
His wife, the former Ursuline Zimbardi, died Oct. 12, 2000.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Dr. John E. (Tricia) Barb of Amherst; a daughter, Bonnie M. (Nick) Sabula of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Barb of Canfield; a sister, Aurelia Simon of Boardman; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, John was preceded in death by a son, Ronald L. Barb, who passed away in March and a granddaughter, Kellie Rex.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Church in Boardman.

Dr. Edward Eugene Bauman
VERONA, WIS. Dr. Edward Eugene Bauman died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Four Winds Manor.
Ed was born to George Isaac Bauman and Elsie Carrel Bauman on Feb. 17, 1919 in Cleveland.
He graduated from South Euclid High in 1935, entered Western Reserve University that fall and graduated at the top of his class in 1939. He entered Western Reserve Medical School and graduated in 1943.
He was married to Margaret Virginia Kreuzwieser on Jan. 17, 1942 in Cleveland by the Rev. Paul G. Adams.
After graduating from medical school, Ed and Margaret moved to Baltimore, where Ed began an orthopedic internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also had a three-month residency at Childrens Hospital School in Baltimore.
On Oct. 7, 1944, Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army 374th Medical Detachment, stationed in Guam. During his three years in Guam, he earned the rank of Major, chief of orthopedic surgery, chief of all surgical operations and laboratory services, as well as working as a cardiovascular surgeon. Upon returning to the U.S., he and Margaret settled in Warren, where he became chief of orthopedic surgery at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was also active at St. Josephs Riverside Hospital of Warren.
Ed and Margaret had five children, Susan (Robert) Krisher, George (Becky) Bauman, Marjorie Bauman, Allen (Lois) Bauman and Carole (David) Cook. They also nurtured many other foster and foreign young adults, most notably Flemming Jensen of Aarus, Denmark, and an AFS student, Peter Kehrer, now of Hanover, Germany.
The Bauman household was a crossroads for many venues in church and society. Ed was honored for his work with the crippled children of Trumbull County, as well as his many cutting-edge orthopedic surgical procedures. He was also Medical Adviser for Indian Missions of the American Lutheran Church.
Ed was devoted to his family, his profession, his church, and to the greater global community. He loved hosting family, church, and community events at 3101 East Market St. in Warren, and he was the life of the party. Ed enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and traveling the world, until he went blind in 1980.
Ed retired from his orthopedic practice in mid-November of 1980, because of a ruptured disc, blindness, and hearing loss.
Ed and Margaret gave generous financial gifts to their church, Trumbull County Medical Society, Crippled Children Association, Case Western Reserve University, and St. Olaf College, from where two of their children graduated. They also supported research for Retinitis Pigmentosa Ushers, the affliction which limited his professional career, through the Burson Mass Eye and Ear Clinic of Boston.
Survivors include his two sons, George (Becky) Bauman of Madison, Wis. and Allen (Lois) Bauman of Niles; a daughter, Carole Cook of Sacramento, Calif.; a son-in-law, Robert (Michelle) Krisher Jr. of Lordstown; eight grandchildren, Rebekah (Bill) Conn of Lordstown, Dr. Camilla (David) Matthews of Madison, Dr. Christopher (Nicole) Bauman of Columbia, Mo., Allen Jr. and Aaron Bauman of Niles and Natalie, Jonathan and Brian Cook of Berkeley, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, William and Sam Conn, Margaret and Katherine Matthews, and Grace Wascoe Bauman; and his former wife, Dorothy Bauman of Hobe Sound, Fla.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Margaret; his daughters, Susan Krisher and Marjorie Bauman; two grandchildren, Robert and Chad Krisher; sons-in-law, Donald Liston and David Cook; his in-laws, Henry and Lydia Kreuzwieser; his sister-in-law and husband, Marjorie and Bob Sweitzer; five brothers and spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted in the chapel of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Warren at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009.
Private burial of his urn will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.

Susan L. Brown, 57
SALEM Susan L. Brown, 57, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009, at 2:30 a.m. at her home, with her children at her side. She fought a courageous eight year battle with breast cancer. She was truly a selfless and amazing mother and grandma, whos greatest joy was her family.
She was born Feb. 13, 1952 in Youngstown to Richard N. and Ruth D. (Fiscus) Cummings.
She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and ITT Technical Institute.
She will be forever missed by her three children, Michelle (Frank) DiMuzio of Hanoverton, Sheri (Joe) Pasquale of Salem and Mark Brown of Youngstown; two sisters, Laurie (Rich) Blasko of Hubbard and Kathy Weeden of Lowellville; a brother, Ken (Tina) Cummings of Poland; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Ashley, Anthony, Ashton and Angelia DiMuzio and Dominic and Gianna Pasquale; and her parents, Richard and Ruth Cummings of Youngstown.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, Phillip G. Snyder and a brother-in-law, Michael Weeden.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, from 4 to 6:15 p.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 6:15 p.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave. in Youngstown.

NILES George A Clinton, 82, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center .
George was born on June 25, 1926 in Girard to the late Phillip and Mabel (Parke) Clinton.
George worked as a display designer for McKelveys in Youngstown and then for JC Penneys in San Diego, retiring in 1985 after 34 years. He had lived in California for 42 years moving back to this area in 1997. George was a 1944 graduate of Girard High School. He was an avid collector of oil lamps, ceramic houses and miniature clocks.
George is survived by his son, Barry (Carolyn) Clinton of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Wilkerson of Girard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Mae Scriven, whom he married Sept. 10, 1947 and died Nov. 11, 2002 and a sister, Beatrice Olin.
George will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Internment services will take place at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.

Marjorie B. (Farmer) Galich, 87
AUSTINTOWN Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church for Marjorie B. Galich, 87, who died Saturday morning at her home
Marjorie was born Dec. 28, 1921 in Youngstown and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha (Whan) Farmer.
She had formerly worked in the Billing Department of Truscon Steel as a comptometer operator and for Favor-It Hostess Gift Shop in Boardman. She was a member of the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church and the Esther Circle of the church and a charter member of the Austintown AARP.
Her husband, Michael M. Galich, whom she married Oct. 15, 1949, died Jan. 12, 1975.
She is survived by two sisters, Lois J. Mentges of Canfield and Peggy Rae Dunlap of Harlington, Texas. She also leaves two nieces, Carol Mentges of Canfield and Cathy Andrews of Harlington; and two nephews, Tom Mentges of Poland and Richard Dunlap of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Michael G. Galich.
Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, prior to the services.

Edna R. Hancox, 85
CANFIELD Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Edna R. Hancox, 85, who died Saturday evening.
Edna was born Aug. 2, 1923 in Valatie, N.Y., the daughter of Harold and Helen (Dewitt) DeWitt and came to Canfield 55 years ago.
Edna retired from Dr. Jack Schreibers office in 1989 after over 25 years, and formerly taught at the Mahoning County Vocational School. She was a member of St. Michaels Church, Canfield Garden Club, was a founding member of the Canfield Friendship Club, Canfield Bridge Club and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society of the church.
Edna served her country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a Yeoman, Second Class.
She is survived by her daughter, Alicia (Donald) Macmillan of Slippery Rock, Pa.; son, Fred (Kay Balcon) Hancox of Washington; sisters, Dorothy Hoffman of Hillsdale, N.Y., Helen Kukon of Germantown, N.Y. and Vange Murphy of Hasbrouch Heights, N.Y. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Hancox, Natalie (Jeff) Enslen, Ian (Desiree) Macmillan, Sara (Charles) Flach and Sean (Melissa) Macmillan; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Krista, Hailey, Makenna, Shanna, Ashlyn and Braden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Harold Hancox, whom she married Feb. 2, 1947, and who died Dec. 1, 2006, and her sister, Mary Maiorano.

YOUNGSTOWN Angeline (Yereb) Lucas, 87, formerly of Export, Pa. and West Deer Township, Pa., died Friday, May 8, 2009, in Youngstown.
She was born Sept. 8, 1921 in Irwin, a daughter of the late Valentine and Antonia (Novak) Yereb.
In addition to her parents, Angeline was preceded in death by her husband, John Lucas; five brothers, Thomas, Harold, Rudolph, Frank and John Yereb; and a sister, Hilda Yereb.
Surviving is her loving son, Larry (Donna) Lucas of Youngstown; two grandchildren, James (Dee) Lucas and Christopher (Rebecca) Lucas; great-grandson, Adam Lucas; and a stepgreat-grandson, Andrew Anthony.

YOUNGSTOWN There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH, 44504, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Siffrin officiating for Joseph S. Steve Molinaro, 53, who passed away suddenly on Friday, May 8, 2009, from natural causes.
Steve will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was a true teacher in every sense and always gave a helping hand to anyone in need.
He was born Oct. 24, 1955 in Steubenville, the son of Joseph Anthony Molinaro and Betty (Capriotti) Bednarek and moved to the Youngstown area in 1994.
Steve was a union carpenter and employed with Simko Development for over 13 years, and was currently the renovation manager.
He was an active member of St. Edward Church and its Liturgy Committee, along with participating in Perpetual Adoration at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown.
Steve was a 1973 graduate of Mingo Junction High School. He was an avid reader and had a great knowledge of current events.
He leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories, his wife of over 30 years, the former Linda Dunlap, whom he married Oct. 21, 1978; two daughters, Natale Molinaro of Georgia and Lucia (Brian) Manis of Springboro; a granddaughter, Isabella; two sisters, Carolyn Devore of Mingo Junction and Paulette Evans of Pittsburgh; his mother, Betty (Frank) Bednarek of Steubenville; three nephews, a niece; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Anthony Molinaro.

Ill Miss You
YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, for Heriberto Eddie Reyes Sr., 64, who passed away Wednesday morning in The Cleveland Clinic.
Heriberto was born July 23, 1944 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, the son of Higinio and Ramona Crespo Reyes.
Eddie was a foreman at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Campbell Works for 18 years, and was also employed by the Youngstown Board of Education as a bus driver of bus 109 for the past 19 years. He also helped his wife as a day care provider assistant at the day care in their home.
He was a member of The Spanish Evangelistic Church, where he was a deacon for 18 years and a Sunday School teacher.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Ilia Rodriguez Reyes; his children, Heriberto Jr. (Marjorie) of Columbus, Jose Luis (Alba) of Campbell, Kenny (Danielle) of Youngstown and Margaret (Stuart) Howard of Youngstown; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Reyes; 13 grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Bobby and Ricardo Reyes; three brothers; and one sisters.

Robert L. Schaal
Together Again
NORTH LIMA Private memorial services will be held at a later date for Robert L. Schaal, formerly of Oak Ave. Mr. Schaal passed away Sunday morning at his home.
Mr. Schaal was born April 28, 1920 in Boardman, a son of Clyde and Mae Myers Schaal.
He was a graduate of Boardman High School, and had been a journeyman machinist for 35 years. He then went on to government public service with Mahoning County from which he retired in 1987.
His wife, the former Lois Jean Buchanan, whom he married Oct. 26, 1940 died March 28, 2003.
Surviving him is a son and daughter-in-law, William and Nancy Schaal of North Lima; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and William Danks; 11 grandchildren, Bill (Janeen) Danks, John (Christine) Danks, Jeannie (Don) Duran, Lynn (John) Corbley, Lisa (Steven) Casler, Robert (Carla) Schaal, Kathy Schaal, Dana (James) Nordquist, Susan (Derek) Cantor, Eric (Amy) Tyger and Keith (Cherie) Tyger; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife are his parents; a son, Robert A. Schaal; and two sisters, Mildred Entzi and Florence Kerr.

McMURRAY, PA. - Jane C. Walsh, 94, formerly of Youngstown, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009.

Nick E. Yacovone, 83
LAKE MILTON A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Fr. Stephen Popovich officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Nick E. Yacovone, 83, who passed away at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Humility House in Austintown after a battle with lung cancer.
Nick was born July 3, 1925 in Carovilli, Italy, the son of the late Michael and Orazia (Testa) Yacovone and moved to Aliquippa, Pa., in October of 1938 and to the Mahoning Valley in 1946.
Nick worked as an electrician in construction and for General Electric, retiring after 33 years of service in 1978.
Nick was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the 1256th Combat Engineer Unit in Central Europe in the Rhineland during World War II and received the EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal before being honorably discharged on May 16, 1946.
Nick was the former Mayor for the Village of Craig Beach, a former Councilman for the Village of Craig Beach, a member of the Carovilli Mutual Aide Society, Knights of Columbus Lake Milton Chapter; American Legion Post 737 of Lake Milton, VFW Post of Youngstown, Disabled American Veterans of Youngstown, was president for many years of the 1256th Combat Engineer Reunion Group, and was vice president of the Library Association of Craig Beach. This group with his leadership helped to organize the building of the Library in Craig Beach. Nick designed, made and donated the stain glass window which is hung in the entry way of the library.
Nick enjoyed photography, stain glass and reading. He built his home and through the years took great pleasure in remodeling and adding to it.
Nick was married on Sept. 10, 1949 to the former Betty Jane Rich and they were married for 59 years until her recent passing on April 28, of this year.
Nick is survived by three children, Randall A. (Rose Anne) Yacovone of Pittsburgh, Lynette M. (Richard) Cadle of North Jackson and Debra A. (James) Steinhaus of Columbus; a sister, Rita Wise of Hubbard; and three grandchildren, Corbin Steinhaus, Anne Marie Cadle and Christine Steinhaus.
Besides his parents and wife, Nick was preceded in death by a brother, Salvatore Yacavone.
Family will receive friends today, May 12, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post 737 of Lake Milton will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
