Joseph J. Baldine Jr., 76
HUBBARD There will be services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Joseph J. Baldine Jr., 76, who passed away Monday at the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Joseph was born Feb. 14, 1933 in Hubbard, a son of Joseph J. Baldine Sr. and Claudia Hull Baldine Hollendursky.
He was a 1952 graduate of Hubbard High School and attended Youngstown College.
He worked at Baglier Ford of Girard, Stiver Chevrolet of Hubbard and retired as a body shop manager in 1992 from Eagle Chevy.
He attended the Central Christian Church of Hubbard, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Japan.
He will be sadly missed by his family; his loving wife and best friend, the former Shirley Mason, whom he married April 21, 1956; his beloved daughters, Joellyn Sheronovich of Hubbard and Beth Baldine of Strongsville; and the love of his life, his grandchildren, Matthew J. Sheronovich of Hubbard and Jenna M. Sheronovich of Richmond, Va. He also is survived by his stepmother, Mary Baldine of Hubbard; a brother, Richard Baldine of Arizona; two half sisters; and two half brothers.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Baldine and Thomas Baldine and a sister, Audrey Bixler.
There will be calling hours today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Carole Bartlo, 60
AUSTINTOWN Carole Bartlo, 60, passed away Tuesday morning, May 5, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Carole was born July 1, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Clara T. Burek Dudek, and came to the area with her family as a child.
She was a 1966 graduate of Chaney High School and a 1969 graduate of the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
Carole was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.
She leaves her daughter, Kelly Bartlo Sargent of Austintown.
A memorial service for Carole was held on Tuesday, May 12.

Jack Glass, 83
STRUTHERS Private services were held Thursday at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for Jack Glass, 83, who passed away Sunday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Jack was born Nov. 8, 1925 in Struthers, a son of Hollis and Mae Belle Erwin Glass.
He fought in World War II, in the 66th Infantry Division of the Army.
Jack married Antoinette DeGenova on April 2, 1949.
He retired from Wean Manufacturing, where he was a general foreman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Western Star and the Rosicrucian Lodge as Regional Monitor.
Jack leaves behind his wife, Antoinette; his son, David (Susan) Glass of Columbiana; two daughters, Marilyn (Michael) Molinari of Niles and Ida (Don) Smith of Boardman; and two granddaughters, Ashleigh and Mackenzie.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Glass Moore.

Rayfield Johnson Jr., 39
UNION, N.J. Funeral services will be at noon on Monday at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home for Rayfield Johnson Jr., 39, formerly of Youngstown, who departed this life Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was born June 29, 1969 in Youngstown, a son of Rayfield Sr. and Thelma Hickson Johnson.
He was a customer care senior assistant for Hilton Hotel, and was of the Methodist faith. He was a 1987 graduate of Ursuline High School and graduated with a bachelors degree in business administration with emphasis in finance from Slippery Rock University in 1991. While at Slippery Rock, he was a residential advisor, elected to Outstanding College Students of America. He moved back here and worked for Gateway To Better Living. He moved to Cleveland in 1994, working 13 years for resource department, and then finally moved to New Jersey in August of 2007, working for Hilton Hotel in the human resource department.
He leaves his parents of Youngstown; a sister, Taunya (Fred) Harvey; two nephews, Lee and Tyler Harvey, all of Columbus; and aunts, uncles, cousins; and other relatives and friends.
He is sadly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Johnson and grandparents, Clarence and Roberta Johnson and Clifford and Mattie Hickson.

George Pops Lesnansky, 92
Together Again
YOUNGSTOWN George Pops Lesnansky, 92, father of George P. Lesnansky Sr., a.k.a Larry Walk, a 45 year veteran radio promoter of polka music in the Penn-Ohio area, passed away Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center, surrounded by his son, George, his beloved daughter-in-law, Diana and his grandson, George P. Jr.
Pops took pride in the fact that he, along with his late wife, Josephine Susie were their sons biggest supporters of their sons radio shows, currently airing each Sunday on WKTX Radio and WSOM Radio, as well as his past Penn-Ohio Polka Festivals in the Idora Park Ballroom, Yankee Lake Ballroom, Conneaut Lake Ballroom and the Gateway Clipper, where they hand distributed advertising materials, table to table, in support of and promoting their sons future promotions.
He was born Aug. 6, 1916 in Mingo Junction, the son of the late John and Mary Lesnansky.
Pops was a member of St. Michaels Carpathian Russian Church, where in earlier years he worked for the church bingo parties.
He retired from U.S. Steel, Ohio Works, where he worked as an open hearth millwright for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Josephine Susie Lesnansky, who passed away two and a half years ago, as well as, two brothers Mike and John.
He will be sadly missed forever, by his son, George Lesnanksy and his daughter-in-law Diana, with whom he made his home; as well as his grandson, George P. Jr. and his wife, Judi; and his three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Soltis of Mineral Ridge and Irene Parker of Poland; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many polka friends.

Father Hutnyn of St. Michaels will conduct services at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by services at the chapel of Green Haven Cemetery, where he will be interred and spend the rest of eternity, next to his loving wife.

Margo Denise Oates Parker, 40
COLUMBUS Margo Denise Oates Parker, formerly of Youngstown, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 11, 2009, at Grant Hospital in Columbus.
Margo was born July 9, 1968 in Youngstown, a daughter of Marvin Sr. and Eula Crawford Oates and lived in this area until moving to Columbus in 1997.
She was a 1987 South High School graduate and excelled as an athlete in track. She also ran track for Princeton Jr. High, South High School and the Youngstown Striders. She had cheered for and was a cheerleading coach for various schools and organizations in Youngstown and Columbus. A lady who loved children, Margo was a childcare provider for various child care centers in Columbus. While in Youngstown she was a member of Word in Action Ministry (formerly True Vine Ministry) and attended the New Birth Baptist Church in Columbus.
Besides her mother of Columbus, she leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Kevin Parker, whom she married in May 2000; three daughters, Shawntia Oates, Asia and Jamaica Parker; and her son, Kaavon Parker; a granddaughter, Shayona; and a sister, Carla Ingram all of Columbus; a brother, Marvin (Joanie) Oates Jr. of Youngstown; brothers-in-law, Robert (Gwen) Parker Jr., Frederick Watkins and Darrell (Cecilia) Parker; sisters-in-law, Erma Parker Rudolph, Sally and Tonya Parker; her best friend, Alena Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin; grandparents, Lela Crawford, J. D. Crawford, Mamie "Sweetie" Oates and James Oates; her father-in-law, Robert Parker; mother-in-law, Elsie Parker; and a nephew, Aundre Phillips.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Road in Youngstown and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Word in Action Ministry, 150 Ninth Street in Campbell. Funeral services will follow Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church.
Dr. Seymour Shagrin, 99
BOCA RATON, FLA. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Itts Memorial Chapel, El-Emeth Granada Cemetery for Dr. Seymour Shagrin, 99, formerly of Liberty Township, who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home in Boca Raton.
Dr. Shagrin was born and raised in Youngstown and graduated from The Rayen School, The Ohio State University and Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.
He was a founder of the Mahoning Valley Podiatry Society and served as President in 1938, 1948, 1950 and 1984. Dr. Shagrin was elected Podiatrist of the Year in 1969 and again in 1975. He was a charter member of both the American Academy of Podiatric Medicine and the Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgery. He was a board member of the Easter Seal Cripple Society and was founder of the Mahoning Valley Foot Clinic. In 1982, he was honored for 50 years of dedicated service by the American Podiatric Society and upon retirement in 1986, he became a life member.
Dr. Shagrin was an active member in both local Jewish affairs and in Boca Raton. Locally, he was a board member of Anshe Emeth Temple and served on many committees at the Jewish Community Center for many years. He was a member of the Zionist Organization and Bnai Brith No. 3293 of Florida.
He organized the podiatry program for Heritage Manor and served as the podiatrist in charge for many years. He retired from podiatry services in 1986 after 54 years of practice.
He was a board member of Squaw Creek Country Club and served on many committees throughout his 56 years of membership. Upon retirement, he became a member of Boca Lago Country Club in Boca Raton.
In 1935, he married Jean Yarmy and was happily married for 67 years until she passed away in January of 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Jerold of Bloomsfield, Mich. and Dr. Robert of Houston; a daughter, Susan Wallach of Houston; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
