William J. Belcik, 35

YOUNGSTOWN - William J. Belcik, 35, passed away Saturday morning, May 16, 2009, at his home.

William was born Aug. 11, 1973 in Youngstown, a son of the Richard and Carole Yuhasz Belcik, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1991 graduate of Chaney High School and had worked for Millbrook Distribution Services for 12 years.

Bill was a member of St. Brendan Church and was an avid follower of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mr. Belcik leaves his parents, Richard and Carole Belcik of Youngstown; two brothers, his twin Thomas Belcik of Youngstown and Richard Belcik Jr. of Lake Milton; and two sisters, Jean (Luis) Heredia of Orlando, Fla. and Barb (Chris) Varga of Boardman.

Family and friends are welcome to attend funeral services for Bill on Tuesday (today) at 7 p.m. at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

Darlene D. Brungard, 89

NEW MIDDLETOWN – Darlene D. Brungard, 89, passed away at 4:10 p.m., May 17, 2009, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 10, 1919 in Springfield Township, the daughter of the late Park R. and Mary G. (Bush) Lipp.

Mrs. Brungard was a lifelong area resident and a 1937 graduate of Springfield Township High School. Darlene was a homemaker and worked as a postal clerk in New Middletown Post Office for 15 years, until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Springfield Township Farm Bureau, The Springfield Township Historical Society and a lifelong member of the New Springfield Church of God, where she was a member of the Joy Class.

Darlene was preceded in death on Sept. 26, 2003, by her husband Richard C. Brungard Sr., whom she married on March 21, 1941.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Lee (William) Doyne of Englewood, Fla.; one son, Richard C. (Patricia) Brungard of New Middletown; two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Welsh of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Kay (Donald) Barth of Poland; two brothers, Lavelle (AnnaMae) Lipp of New Middletown and Park (Jean) Lipp Jr. of Grove City; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brungard was also preceded in death by her son, Donald A. Brungard in 1955 and her brother, Donald A. Lipp.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the New Springfield Church of God with grandsons Mark and Matt Brungard officiating.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, prior to the service at the New Springfield Church of God.

The family requests that material contributions be made to the New Springfield Church of God.

Richard L. Bullen Jr., 46

AUSTINTOWN – Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Life Church, 6101 S. Raccoon Road in Canfield for Richard L. Bullen Jr. who died Saturday at his residence.

He was born Aug. 25, 1962 in Youngstown, a son of Richard L. and Marjorie (Collette) Bullen Sr.

He was a 1981 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, and he worked as an independent general contractor.

He lived in Moore County, N.C. for several years before returning to the area. He was of the Pentecostal faith and had been attending the Christian Life Church.

He was a handyman at heart, and he enjoyed fixing anything and everything. He also enjoyed working on cars, was an avid NASCAR fan, and he loved creating and repairing jewelry.

He is survived by his parents of Austintown; two daughters, Amanda Lynn Bullen of Girard and Abbie Lynn Bullen of Poland; a brother, the Rev. William (Ingrid) Bullen of Carthage, N.C.; and two sisters, Marjorie “Cissy” (Thomas) Glunt of Austintown and Debra (Jeffrey) Friend of Raleigh, N.C.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Lane Funeral Home in Richard’s memory.

Myra Bell Herbert, 85

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be today at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for Myra Bell Herbert, 85, who departed this life Thursday, May 14, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Herbert was born Nov. 9, 1923 in Greenville, Ala., a daughter of Henry Smith and Geneva Jordan.

She was a homemaker, a member of the church, its senior choir, kitchen committee and the pastor’s aide ministry.

Her husband, Willie G. Herbert, whom she married Dec. 24, 1940, died Feb. 14, 1994.

She leaves three daughters, Emma (Heril) Nelson, Eva (Desey) Cathey and Gladys Herbert, all of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Dionne Cathey and Cheryl (David) Smith; four great-grandchildren, Michael Cathey and Dorian, Donivan and Cheylynn Smith; and a godchild, Jason Jordan.

Emily Rita (Szramowski) Janowski

ORWELL – Emily Rita Janowski (Szramowski) died on Friday, May 15, 2009, as result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born in Cleveland on Aug. 26, 1920, the daughter of Mary and Leopold Szranowski.

She has lived in Orwell for the past 66 years and was the beloved wife of the late Ted A. Janowski and sister of the late Florence Antos and Leonard Szramowski.

The best mom, grandma and friend anyone could ask for, Emily is survived by and will be missed by her sons, Fred and David (Barbara) Janowski and her grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren and Ryan.

Her cup was never more than half full despite any challenges. Emily was a free spirit who enjoyed life everyday. She strived to stay active especially in her church, St Mary’s in Orwell, where she belonged to the daughters of Mary.

Emily had many wonderful friends, especially her “best buddy” Rose Gedeon, who supported her in ways too numerous to mention. In addition, Eleanor Sadowski, a very dear friend who was always so kind and generous for many years.

The family would also like to thank the Smith’s, Eaton’s and especially the entire Detweiler and Mullet families including all of Emily’s “other grandchildren” for their generosity, support and kindness for so many years.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Orwell on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at 10 a.m.

Friends my call today, May 19, 2009, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary M. Krygowski, 96

WESTERVILLE – Mary M. Krygowski, 96, formerly of Youngstown, died May 17, 2009.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew and son-in-law, John Gerberry.

She is survived by her daughters, Joan Gerberry and Judie Ruffalo; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthias Church.

Interment at Calvary Cemetery.


Nichole Renee “Niki” Lile, 33

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Nichole Renee “Niki” Lile, 33, of Youngstown, who peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2009, with her loving family by her side after a courageous 10 month with cancer.

Niki will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her outgoing personality and her willingness to always give a helping hand to anyone in need.

She was born Oct. 27, 1975 in Youngstown, the daughter of Floyd Lile and Judy (Riegler) Wright.

Niki was a 1994 graduate of Canfield High School and attended The Ohio State University in their nursing program.

She loved animals, reading, the outdoors, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She leaves behind to hold on to her memories her mother, Judy Wright, with whom she made her home; her father, Floyd Lile of Columbiana; two sisters, Jaki Robinson of Columbiana; and Deana Lile of Youngstown; two nephews, Staff Sergeant Stephen Kollar and Austin Kollar; and a niece, Kendall Kollar.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 21, 2009, from 1 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.

Esther Mae Rouzzo, 73

YOUNGSTOWN – Private services were Monday, May 18, at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. in Boardman for Esther Mae Rouzzo, 73, who peacefully met Jesus on Friday morning, May 15, at her residence, surrounded by family.

Esther was born April 4, 1936 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Franklin David and Minnie Cade Rohrbaugh.

She graduated from South High School in 1955. She attended the Victory Christian Center and was a homemaker.

Esther is survived by her husband, Joseph Rouzzo of 48 years, whom she married on March 11, 1961; three children, Joseph (Ann) Rouzzo of Lowellville, Anthony Rouzzo of Manhattan, N.Y. and Elaina (John) Pierog of Poland; two grandchildren, Cindy (Chris) DelSignore and Jennifer Rouzzo; a great-granddaughter, Joslyn; two sisters, Jen Phillips of Thomas, W.Va. and her twin sister, Ellen Broll of Poland; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Esther was preceded in death by five brothers, Al Rohrbaugh, Fred Rohrbaugh, Pat Rohrbaugh, Frank Rohrbaugh and Chub Rohrbaugh and two sisters, Margie Rinko and Virginia Holt.

Helen A. Shaik, 85

POLAND – Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers and 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown for Helen A. Shaik, 85, who passed away Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.

Helen was born on Jan. 10, 1924 in Campbell, a daughter of Frank and Anna Brizoski, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Columba Cathedral.

Helen was a beloved wife and mother, who will be truly missed by her husband, Joseph J. Shaik of Poland, whom she married on Jan. 18, 1943; one daughter, Patricia (Buzz) Altemus of Austintown; three grandchildren, Wendy (Jeff) Gorup, Kari Shaik and Christopher (Tammy) Shaik; and three great-grandchildren, Emily Anne Gorup and Brandon and Tyler Shaik.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joseph R. Shaik; three brothers, Frank, Stanley and Joe Brizoski; and two sisters, Josephine Luzuta and Genevieve Briggs Lazuta.

Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Brian L. Trickett, 39

LOWELLVILLE – There will be services Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Brian L. Trickett, 39, who passed away Friday at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness.

Brian was born Jan. 13, 1970 in Youngstown, a son of John H. Trickett and Frances Jordan Trickett Bright, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1988 graduate of Hubbard High School, and had an associate degree from ITT in electrical engineering. He worked in the contracting industry, and was the owner of ACEL Inc. He also was a member of Mahoning Sportsman Club in Pennsylvania.

He leaves his son, Bryant Trickett of Cortland; his mother, Frances Bright and stepfather, Michael Bright of Hubbard; his grandmother, Roseann Jordan of Hubbard; a brother, John Trickett of Hubbard; and a sister, Vicky Trickett of Pittsburgh.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thelma and Raymond Summers and Martin Jordan.

There will be calling hours on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
