Gloria Burke, 78
POLAND Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christines Church in Youngstown for Mrs Gloria Burke, 78, formerly of Lucerne Lane in Boardman, who died Monday morning at the Hospice House.
Gloria was born July 11, 1930 in McDonald, a daughter of Alex and Ann Drabiska Guran.
She was a 1948 graduate of Niles McKinley, a homemaker, a member of St. Christine Church and was a former coordinator for the Youngstown Area Irish step dancers.
Gloria leaves her husband, William Burke, who she married Aug. 30, 1952; two daughters, Kathy (Marty) Potnick of Stateline, Nev. and Nancy (Mike) Feist of Cincinnati; three sons, Tom (Sue) Burke of Perrysburgh, Daniel (Ann) Burke of New Orleans and Patrick (Dawn) Burke of Poland; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Frank Guran of Scottsdale, Ariz., who died on the same day as her.
Glorias greatest enjoyment was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren .

Harry Dunn Camp, 86
BERLIN CENTER Harry Dunn Camp, 86, of 9365 Pricetown Road, died at 10:47 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Med Central Shelby Hospital in Shelby.
He was born Nov. 1, 1922 in North Lima, the son of the late Samuel and Nellie (Dunn) Camp.
Before his retirement in 1986, he had been a line foreman for 38 years with Ohio Edison. He was a member of the Salem First Friends Church and the Philathia Class.
He loved farming his 50 acres and was a very gifted woodworker.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou (Weik) Camp, whom he married June 1, 1946; a son, Thomas R. (Krystal) Camp of Berlin Center; two daughters, Catherine Kitty (Larry) Johnson of Canfield and Nancy (Keith) Alt of Shelby; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Pauline Beamer and a granddaughter, Rebecca Johnson preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Salem First Friends Church with Pastor John Pierce officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Salem.

Vincenzo DApruzzo, 92
BRUSH CREEK, TENN. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown, with the Rev. Rick Jastrzebski officiating for Vincenzo DApruzzo, 92, formerly of Youngstown, who passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, with his family by his side.
Vincenzo will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends.
He was born May 15, 1916 in Lupara, Campobasso, Italy, the son of Leonardo and Giovanina (Cicarelli) DApruzzo.
While in Italy, Vincenzo was an Italian Army Veteran of World War II and enjoyed farming and then came to the United States in 1955.
He was employed for 26 years at Youngstown Sheet & Tube which later became Campbell Works in the Seamless Department and retired in 1981.
Vincenzo was a member of St. Dominic Church, and loved gardening, canning and making wine.
His wife, the former Maria Colella, whom he married Dec. 29, 1940, died Sept. 23, 1992.
He leaves behind to hold on to his memories a son, Leonard (Bonnie) DApruzzo of Arizona; two grandsons, Vincent (Megan) DApruzzo of Tennessee and Anthony (Nikki) DApruzzo of Poland; five great-grandchildren, Tony, Anthony, Michael, Angelina and Gianna; a sister, Adlegesa Damelio of Montana; a niece, Anna Maria (Andy) York; and three nephews, Lenny (Cindy) Granitto, Joe (Donna) Granitto and Nick (Teresa) Granitto.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mafalda Granitto and Adelmina Didodo.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 21, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman.

Anne M. Dubaj
CAMPBELL Private family services were held Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Church for Anne M. Dubaj, who passed away at her home early Saturday morning, with her family by her side.
Anne was born Oct. 4, 1921 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Ralph and Lucille Rocco Eurez.
She worked at Molded Fiber Glass for many years in Ashtabula before moving to Campbell in 1959. While in Campbell, she worked at womens clothing stores and various boutique shops.
She met her husband, Frank Dubaj in 1966 and married him on Sept. 7, 1968.
Anne was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church and was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed traveling, especially to the casinos. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to the polka bands and family gatherings.
Anne was a loving, kind and warm hearted person and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Frank; two daughters, Jacqueline (Alex) Garnet Jr. and Denise Beatty, both of Warren; one son, Ronald (Denise) Palma of Ashtabula; one granddaughter, Kelly (Steve) Megyesi; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Laura, Christine, Michael and Steven; two sisters, Mary Sebastian and Rose Rente; three brothers, John, George and Paul (Adelaide) Eurez, all of Ashtabula; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Anne was preceded in death by five brothers, Tony, Ralph Jr., Frank, Mike and Anthony Joseph; and two sisters, who died in infancy.

Ginger (Regina A.) Kalmár
WALDEN, COLO. Ginger (Regina A.) Kalmár died unexpectedly on May 17, 2009 from a massive blood clot in the heart.
Loving wife of 45 years to Attila F. (Kal) Kalmár (deceased); dedicated mother and doting grandma to Peggy and Dr. Mike Gross and their son, Max of Ben Lomond, Calif, Dr. MaryLou and Cory Kalmár-Peele of Fountain, Colo. and Tim and Tracy Kalmár and their sons, Alex, Adam and Ryan of Uniontown; and beloved sister and aunt.
Born on Oct. 26, 1942, in Cleveland, Ginger was the youngest of six children.
She graduated from St. Michaels High School at the young age of 16. Her life really began when she was married to Kal in 1961 by a justice of the peace in a MI lumberyard.
Ginger was very proud of her children and supported them throughout their lives in every way possible. As they all graduated from college and grew into adulthood, she became more than a parent, she became a friend.
Ginger loved her grandchildren with a passion and enjoyed spending time with them, camping and playing and on their annual vacations. Even when far away from them, she still was actively involved in their lives. Shell always be remembered as Grandma Colorado, by her youngest grandson.
Some of the best years of Gingers life were the last six that she spent in Colorado. She made many friends, who became like family. She spent her time fostering kittens, volunteering at Poudre Valley Hospital, working for Union Colony Security and enjoying life.
Ginger will be missed greatly by all who knew her, especially her cats, Murphy and Bailey. The world will be a little less bright without her shining in it.
A memorial service to celebrate Gingers life will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the garden at The Edwards House, 402 W. Mountain Ave., Fort Collins, Colo. The dress is extremely casual.

YOUNGSTOWN Mrs. Doris Louise Kimberley, 75, passed away at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus on Monday, May 18.
Mrs. Kimberley was born Feb. 5, 1934 in Newport News, Va., a daughter of Herbert and Ida Jones Banks.
She was a retiree of Western Reserve Transit Authority, where she worked many yaers as a bus driver.
She leaves to cherish her memory five sons, Reynold and Thaddeus Banks, both of Youngstown and James, Jerry and Earl Kimberley, all of Texas; three daughters, Kim Kimberley of Newport News, Tracey Jones of Pittsburgh and Christell Kimberley of Columbus; four brothers, Milton of Lorain, Harold of Youngstown, Thomas of Newport News and James Banks of Atlantic City, N.J.; two sisters, Inez Austin of Jamaica Queens, N.Y. and Loretta Munn of Newport News; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; and a brother, Calvin Boo Banks.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Howard-Rhoden Memorial Home, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Marie Elizabeth Klimaski, 92
AUSTINTOWN Prayers will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Marie Elizabeth Klimaski, 92, who passed away early Tuesday morning at her home.
Marie was born July 1, 1916 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Budesky) Zarnick.
Marie was a 1932 graduate of South High School. She attended Youngstown University and was a sorority member. Marie was a founding member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. She was a Girl Scout Leader, belonged to the Youngstown Bridge Club and the Bridge Club in Cornersburg. Marie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening and was an active computer user. Everyone knew her for the many baby blankets she would make. Marie also enjoyed traveling to see her children and her trips to Europe and China. She like watching sports, especially the Spurs and discussing the results with Fr. Popovich. Her greatest love was for her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and neighbor and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maximillian A. Klimaski, whom she married July 12, 1941, and passed away Dec. 3, 2000; and two brothers, Joseph Zarnick and Henry Zawrotniak.
Marie leaves four daughters, Roberta Spaulding of Austintown, Patricia (Charles) Kucharik of Orlando, Fla., Karen (S. Maurice) McAshan of Kerrville, Texas and Lynne (Philip) Huber of Dallas; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Spaulding, Lisa (Jason) Hersh, Chris (Leilani) Kucharik, Jennifer (Jorge) Giral, Kimberly and Andrea Kucharik, Jim McAshan, Phil (Melissa) Huber and Elizabeth, Natalie, Tiffany and Ali Huber; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shirley M. Koby, 75
AUSTINTOWN Shirley M. Koby, 75, entered into eternal rest May 18, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman Campus surrounded by her loved ones.
Shirley was born July 23, 1933 in Youngstown, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy Price. She had lived in Austintown, West Lake, Berea and Lady Lake, Fla.
She was a 1951 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, where she excelled in studies and dance and was also a cheerleader.
Shirley shared her life with her husband and best friend, Kenneth Koby for 57 years, raising four children.
For years Shirley was the owner of Shirlees Beauty Salon and was also the CEO of Shirlee Kaye Enterprises in Ohio and Florida.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where she and Ken renewed their wedding vows for their 40th anniversary. She was also a PMCO in Aut Mori Caldron and past member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Shirley had a smile for everyone, having many friends and enjoying all social activities. Her greatest joy was being with her family and grandchildren whenever possible.
She will be sadly missed by her husband and best friend of 57 years, Kenneth; sons, Kenneth Koby of Jacksonville, Fla. and Dr. Bradley (Tina) Koby of Houston; and daughters, Susan (Jack) Baker of Canfield and Christine (Jeff) Owen of Long Island, N.Y. She also is survived by her sister, Jean (Bob) Richardson of Poland; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Ernest Charles Kuumba Lokey
CRAWFORDVILLE, GA. Memorial services will be held for Ernest Charles Kuumba Lokey, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman Ave., at 2:30 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2009
Born in Hubbard on Nov. 20, 1923 to the late William and Geneva Lokey, on April 21, 2009, the angels came and ushered him away to find rest for his tired and wearied body.
He was educated in the Hubbard and Youngstown Pubic Schools. He was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1943 and serving 30 months as a Quarter Master Specialist in Northern France and Central Europe. Distinctions include, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, and the World War II Victory Medal. Honorably discharged, having the rank of Corporal.
Ernest was employed in the construction and steel industries, a job training counselor for the City of Youngstown, a director of various neighborhood centers, and a Child Care Specialist Contract Negotiator/Evaluator with the MCJFS.
He was a tireless community activist and a major player in organizations such as the Black Political Assembly, National Black Independent Political Party, Black Leadership Summit Council, Harambee Coalition, African Cultural Weekend Committee and Kwanzaa Organizing Committee. His carpentry and woodworking skills were often included in his community work. His love for woodworking earned him the African name "Kuumba", which means "creativity" in Swahili.
Starting in 1971 and continuing for over 25 years, Ernest organized, funded, and directed the Brier Hill Drum Corps, which later was known as the Brick City Drum Corps and finally as the Kuumba Drummers. He went into some of the most distressed neighborhoods to promote pride, dignity, and self discipline among African American youth. Well into his seventies, he would proudly lead his drummers in their red, black and green uniforms in parades and competitions in the Youngstown area and throughout Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
Ernest leaves to cherish memories, his wife, Esonia Thomas Lokey; two daughters, Kristen ( Kabik ) Daam of Columbus and Sherrie Shackleford of Youngstown; a son, Michael Lokey of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Ercila (Johnnie) Harrison of Riverdale, Ga.; two grandchildren he helped raise, Quincy Harris and Ky Lokey; 11 other grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Willa Mae Hughes of Cleveland; extended family, Mercedes King, Lawrence T.T. Boatwright, Lynnette Miller and Ron Miller, all of Youngstown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alfreedia and Joe Rucker, Sadie and Calvin Pitts, Beatrice Thomas and Eria Terrrll; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A son, Ernest Lokey Jr.; a daughter, Joyce Carter; a brother, William; and two sisters, Gladys Faison and Mary Harris, preceded him in death.
Let us remember a strong, dedicated, courageous, black man. Let us remember. Ernest Kuumba Lokey.
Florence Mikulak
TEMPE, ARIZ. On May 15, 2009 Florence Mikulak left this world to join her Lord and the loved ones who went before her.
Florence was born on April 20, 1918, in Youngstown, the daughter of Louis and Rosa Greco.
After graduation from high school, she began a long and very successful career as a fashion buyer and consultant.
Florence and George Appenzeller were married in Youngstown in 1939. They had one much-loved daughter, Rosemarie, a year later. Shortly after, George was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946, they moved to Whittier, Calif. where they increased their circle of friends year after year. When George died, Florence married Samuel Mikulak. Each embraced the others children and grandchildren.
Florence will be remembered for her love of her family, her joyful openness to life and people, her love of opera, her kindness and generosity, and her abiding trust in God.
Florence was a faithful member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Tempe, Ariz. Until recently, she was a regular at the Pyle Senior Center, which provided for her lifelong love of exercise and bridge.
Survivors are her daughter, Rosemarie Evans; son-in-law, Jack Evans; brothers, Michael and Raymond Greco and their spouses, Thais Greco and Ruth Greco; grandchildren, John Evans and Elizabeth Evans, Oliver Ncube and Becky Evans; great-grandsons, Tyler and Zachary Evans; great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Gabriella Ncube; her second family, Philip Mikulak, Tanya Mikulak, Nina Mikulak, Scott Mikulak, Tracy and Yariv Levin.
The family are very grateful to the staff of Emmaus House in Chandler and Sun Valley Hospice for their skillful and loving care of Florence in her final months.
Visitation and a rosary service for Florence will be held at the Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School in Scottsdale, Ariz. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2121 S. Rural Road in Tempe on May 22 at 10 a.m.
John E. Jack Mitchell Sr., 73
SALEM John E. Jack Mitchell Sr., 73, of 9654 Stratton Road died at 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman.
He was born June 12, 1935 in New Castle, Pa, the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Leonhardt) Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell retired in 1995 as a field estimator for Ohio Edison. He had been a lineman and worked for the company for 36 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church. During the Korean War, he served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
His wife, Geraldine Jerry (West) Mitchell, whom he married March 29, 1958, survives him, along with a son, John E. (Lisa) Mitchell Jr. of Salem; a daughter, Cynthia S. (Alan) French of Columbus; a brother, Samuel (Margie) Mitchell of Greenford; and five grandchildren, Alicia French, Aric French and Austin French, all of Columbus, and Lauren M. Mitchell and Jonathan Edward Mitchell, both of Salem.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday at the First Christian Church of Salem, 1151 East 6th St. in Salem with the Rev. Leonard Moore officiating.
Calling hours will be at the church from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, prior to the services.
Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Salem V.F.W. Post 892 and the Salem AMVETS Post 45 Burial Group.

Pat P. Petrella, 55
NORTH CANTON Mr. Pat P. Petrella was born in Youngstown on Nov. 15, 1953, a son of John and Lena Rocco Petrella.
He died on Friday, April 24, 2009, at Affinity Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.
Pat was raised in the Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Pat graduated from Ursuline High School in 1971 and obtained his degree in chemical engineering from Youngstown State University in 1976, he then received a civil engineering degree in 1995. He was a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
He worked as an engineer for Babcock & Wilcox as well as M.S. Consultants. He currently was an Air Pollution Control Engineer with the City of Canton.
He leaves several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and his grandparents, Rose and Sam Rocco, with whom he lived with as a child.
A memorial service will commence at 10:15 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church on May 23, 2009. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m., followed by a meal at the Sacred Heart Church.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Prieto was born Dec. 25, 1937 in Powellton, W.Va., a son of Leopoldo and Della M. Hall Prieto, coming to this area many years ago.
He had been employed with Youngstown Sheet & Tube (LTV), was owner/operator of Frank Prieto & Sons Construction, and Gary Crim Rentals, in its warehouse department. He loved working, especially asphalt and concrete paving, and being with friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, nine children, Shirley (Dale Sr.) Jackson, Franklin E. (Sharon) Prieto Jr., Tina Myers, Daryl L. Copeland, Tosha (Andre) Prieto-Mason, Della (Juan) Prieto-Ortiz, Leo (Shamara) Prieto, Jamar Prieto and Jerome Prieto, all of Youngstown; a brother, Duward (Bebe) Hall of Philadelphia; a sister, Patricia M. Simley of Powellton; 40 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; dear friends, Mary Prieto, Donna Copeland and Gary Crim; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Robert J. Tracey, 75
HUBBARD Robert J. Tracey, 75, died Monday morning, May 18, 2009, at Hospice House.
He was born Aug. 3, 1933 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph J. and Susan Rosnosky Tracey and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Tracey was a chemical engineer for LTV Steel. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, where he also served as an usher. Robert served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the National Association for Amateur Radio with the call sign N8REI and enjoyed radios and camping.
His wife, the former Geraldine Cataline, whom he married Aug. 3, 1957, died April 17, 2008.
He leaves a son, Robert Tracey of Novelty; two daughters, Susan (David) Nespeca of Poland and Cheri (Bob) Russell of Brookville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Tracey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Harold was born Sept. 20, 1922 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Charles and Mary (Hayjurik) Turtanica.
Harold was a 1940 graduate of North Union High School in Uniontown. He was a veteran serving in the Navy during World War II. During the Korean War, he was a member of the National Guard. Harold loved to help people whenever he could. He retired in 1987 from Hynes Steel with over 40 years of service as a steel slitter.
Harold leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Bartos, whom he married June 16, 1956; a daughter, Mary Ann Turjanica of Austintown; and a son, Charles Anthony Turjanica of Austintown.
Harold was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline, Betty, Margaret, and Barbara; and a brother, Mike.
The family will be receiving friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
