YOUNGSTOWN There will be services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard for LeRoy A. Bowser, 64, who passed away Tuesday at his residence.
LeRoy was born April 22, 1945 in Fairview, Pa., a son of Andrew LeRoy and Edna Smith Bowser and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a laborer at Youngstown Steel Door and at Railroad Scrap, and also was a truck driver for the U.S. Post Office.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He leaves his former wife and best friend, Judith Lee; his current wife, Shannon Sweaney, whom he married Nov. 7, 2008; his children, Debbie Nicholson of Hubbard, Sissy Reed of North Carolina, Peggy Riley of Cincinnati, Mary Ann Riley of Youngstown; Flo Collins of Youngstown, Roberta Garrett of Struthers, Sandy Kennedy of Columbus, Dale Bowser of Cleveland and Raymond Bowser of Liberty; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters, Peg Drohn of Salem, Helen Rowland of Niles and Evelyn Soich of McDonald.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Cathy and Ruby; a son, LeRoy Bowser; a brother, Dale Bowser and two grandchildren, Lisa Marie Riley and Anthony Hess.
There will be calling hours Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Robert Joseph Brewer, 55
WARREN Robert Joseph Brewer, 55, died at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1953 in Zanesville, the son of Myron Eugene Brewer and Mary Louise Jones.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an over the road truck driver for many years, most recently with Kraftmaid Cabinetry.
Robert was an avid fisherman, Steelers and Indians fan.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Clutter) Brewer, whom he married March 27, 1983; two sons, Michael and Mark Brewer of Niles; two daughters, Bobbi Jo Brewer of Warren and Holly Brewer of Florida; four grandchildren, Andrew Brewer of Florida and Joseph Brewer, LeAndra Shick and Trenton Brewer, all of Warren; his father, Myron Eugene; his stepfather, Anthony Rosace; two brothers, Mark Brewer of Girard and Terry Brewer of Newark, Ohio; three sisters, Connie Hughes of Liberty and Peggy Brewer and Tina Honaker, both of Girard; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Rosace and an infant sister, Brenda Kay.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.

Sonya M. Campbell, 53
BOARDMAN Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 471 Mathews Road in Boardman for Sonya M. Campbell, 53, who died Wednesday morning at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
Sonya was born Jan. 19, 1956 in San Antonio, a daughter of Duncan Thomas and Patricia Slack Fennell.
She had been an engraver for Things Remembered until her illness. She attended Clayton State College and the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
Sonya is survived by her mother, Patricia Fennell of Boardman; her father, Duncan Fennell of Georgia; her son, Christopher James Campbell of Georgia; four daughters, Patricia Marie Campbell, Sybil Shavon Campbell and Lauren Gabrielle Myers, all from Georgia and Cassandra Brooke Campbell of Boardman; a brother, Daniel Thompson Fennell; two sisters, Rhonda Lynn Fennell and Patricia Ann Underwood, all from Georgia; and her former husband, Lawrence Campbell of Georgia.

YOUNGSTOWN Services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Rising Star Baptist Church for Mr. Hylan Cash, 21, who departed this life Saturday, May 23, 2009.
Mr. Cash was born Sept. 20, 1987 in Youngstown, a son of Leon Hylan Washington and Angel Sherreel Cash.
He was a 2006 graduate of The Rayen School. He had received his masonry certificate from Choffin and was attending New Castle School of Trades. He attended the Rising Star Baptisit Church.
An avid lover of sports, Hylan played little league football with the Little Braves, football for Fitch, Chaney and The Rayen Schools, as well as running track for The Rayen School.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Angel S. Cash of Austintown; father, Leon Washington of Wisconsin; his aunt and guardian, Yvonne (John) Clinkscale of Youngstown; two sisters, Sherrell M. Cash of Austintown and Lindsey Washington of Florida; a brother, Leon Washington Jr. of Florida; grandparents, Joan Cash Gamble, Wayne Gamble, Beverly Clinkscale; great-grandparents, Lessie Ratliff and Wallace Burgess; godmother, Rachel Ma Rogers; a host of cousins, including Steven (Jasena) Clinkscale, Michael (Jordan) Clinkscale-Washington, Caniece Clinkscale and Christian Clinkscale, whom he was reared with; several aunts, including, Loretta Washington; his girlfriend, Marion Tish Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Catherine Buzzanco DeMatteis, 65
MILWAUKEE Catherine Buzzanco DiMatteis, 65, formerly of Niles, died Feb. 3, 2009, in Milwaukee after a prolonged illness.
She was born July 17, 1943 in Calumet City, Ill., the daughter of Nicholas and Mary Tornabene Buzzanco.
She was a retired Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School teacher.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Vincent DeMatteis, whom she married Feb. 8, 1969; three daughters, Nicole DeMatteis and Danielle DeMatteis, both of Milwaukee and Gina DeMatteis of Philadelphia; two brothers, Jim Buzzanco and his wife, Arlene of Howland and Dr. Bob Buzzanco and his wife, Stephanie of Houston; and a sister, Marilyn Roberts and her husband, Bill of Niles.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nicole Marie Buzzanco.

NORTH LIMA Tina Dionisio, 93, formerly of Boardman, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
She was born Sept. 30, 1915 in Udine, Italy, a daughter of the late Felice Masutti and Eleonora DelBel Masutti. She came to the area in 1945 as a First War Bride in Youngstown.
She was a member of St. Charles Church.
Her husband, Jim, whom she married in 1943, died in 1991.
She leaves four sons, Nick and Marcy Dionisio of Austintown, Daniel and Earla of Canfield, Ronald and Janet of Mercer, Pa. and Gary and Patti of Boardman; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert Dionisio is deceased.
Services will be Friday, May 29 at noon at the Fabrizio Funeral Home, 619 E. Indianola Ave. in Youngstown.

Mr. Douglass was born June 22, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of Robert A. Sr. and Catherine Thomas Douglas.
He was a 1963 graduate of The Rayen School and had worked at General Motors Lordstown for over 25 years, retiring in 1993. He was a former member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader.
Joseph will be lovingly and sadly missed by his mother, Catherine Douglas Veney; a son, Vincent (Roberta) Telfair of Youngstown; three daughters, Kyiel (Glen) Williams and Kayshia Douglass, both of Youngstown and Nakeia Douglass of Colorado Spring, Colo.; his brother, Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. of Youngstown; two sisters, Roberta B. (Rev. William) Davis of Twinsburg, and Leta Sims of Youngstown; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr. and stepfather, David Veney.

Kenneth Dale Griffith, 53
ASHTABULA Kenneth Dale Griffith, 53, of Lake Avenue, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born on June 1, 1955 in Ashtabula, the son of George and Nellie (Stevenson) Griffith Jr. and had been a lifelong area resident.
A 1973 graduate of Harbor High School, he was employed as a cashier at Giant Eagle, Edwards, Wal-Mart, and Phar-Mor.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed wildlife and the outdoors. He especially loved to landscape and was a Civil War buff. He spent much of his time providing care to both of his parents and enjoyed musical theater.
He is survived by his father, George Griffith Jr. of Ashtabula; brothers, George (Diana) Griffith III of Conneaut, Donald (Karen) Griffith of Geneva, David (Sheriann) Griffith of Hubbard and William (Marti) Griffith of Barberton; sisters, Deborah (Fred) Kneisley of Rochester, N.H., Donna Griffith of Ashtabula and Tianna (Chris) Durbin of Purcellville, Va.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Griffith; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friend, Judi Wolfe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Griffith and his brother, Darrell Lee Griffith.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Bible Baptist Church, 4448 North Ridge Road West, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Larry Emery, Pastor, officiating.

YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the McGuffey Road Church of Christ with Minister Benjamin Trammell as eulogist, for Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Hendrix.
Mrs. Hendrix was born Sept. 26, 1932 in Dillon, S.C., a daughter of James A. and Annie M. McCormick McQueen, coming to this area many years ago.
She operated her own beauty shop on Hillman Street for many years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the church, where she taught sewing classes and was deeply involved with the young women there. She loved cooking, sewing and quilt making.
On May 25th, Our Heavenly Father cast his eternal light upon St. Elizabeth Health Center and beckoned her home.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a daughter, Linda Moore Ballard, with whom she made her home; two sons, Minister Wesley O. Thompson and his wife, Marguerite, both of Youngstown and David Lee Moore of Las Vegas; one sister, Katie M. Phillips of Youngstown; three brothers, John W. McQueen of Baltimore, James W. McQueen of Youngstown and James D. McQueen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Annie Bush and Betty Griffin, both of Youngstown; a brother-in-law, Tom Moore of Youngstown; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also leaves three people very dear to her heart, Kathy Segall of Youngstown, Mark Segall of Pittsburgh and Jeffery Segall of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Dallas Thompson, Ralph Moore Jr. and James H. Hendrix; two brothers, Thomas McQueen and Daniel McQueen; and two sisters, Carrie Jones and Rosa Gaddy.

HUBBARD There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard for Nancy E. Huffman, 63, who passed away Monday at Forum Health Northside Medical Center after an extended illness.
Nancy was born July 25, 1945 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Charles and Elinore Steenson Bullions and came to Hubbard in 1981.
She was an executive secretary for Indalex Aluminum in Girard and later a secretary for St. James Episcopal Church in Boardman, retiring in 2006.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard, and was an avid member of Hubbard Environmental & Land Preservation.
She is survived by her husband, Howard E Huffman, whom she married April 20, 1996; her children, Lynn (George) Denzinger of Grand Rapids, Mich, Kevin (Kirstie) Farley of Akron, Jason (Lisa) Farley of Canfield and Philip Huffman of Hubbard; and four grandchildren, Caitlin, Carmen, Joshua and Allison. She also leaves her sisters, Bette Anderson of Mt. Lebanon, Pa. and Ethel Dunbar of Columbiana.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Didion and her brothers, Chuck Bullions and Bud Bullions.

Ralph J. Infante, 83
NILES Ralph J. Infante, 83, of 214 Belmont Ave., died at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown.
He was born July 17, 1925 in Niles, the son of Mike and Carmela Cipriano Infante Sr.
He was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High School upon completing his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Ralph was employed as a die setter at Faull and Son Tool and Die Company for 26 years. He was also employed by the City of Niles as a Municipal Court Bailiff and at the waste water treatment plant for 15 years before retiring in 1990. He served as a Niles 3rd Ward Councilman for 5 years.
He was a lifelong member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, honorary lifetime member of the Niles Mens Democratic Club and the Italian Fraternal Home of Girard. He was also a charter member of the Italian American War Veterans Post 39 in Girard and the Bagnoli Irpino Club.
He enjoyed playing bocce, and was an avid New York Yankee and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He also was a major blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Ralph, who never failed a friend and never feared a foe, will be deeply missed by his wife, Angeline Ragozine Infante, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage with on April 30; four sons, Joseph Infante and his wife, Mary of Niles, Steve Infante of Niles, Mayor Ralph A. Infante and his wife, Judy of Niles and Larry Lance Infante and his fiancee, Cindy of Niles; two daughters, Kathy McGill and her husband, Terry of Niles and Trumbull County Clerk of Courts, Karen Infante Allen and her husband, Billy of Niles; two brothers, John Infante and his wife, Esther of Niles and Mike Infante and his wife, Patty of Austintown; a sister, Mary Gallo and her husband, Joseph of Girard; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Infante and a sister, Angie Rounds.

NORTH JACKSON Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for LeRoy E. Lee Martin who died Monday at his residence.
LeRoy was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Austintown, the son of Earl L. and Esther H. (Klem) Martin and was a lifelong area resident.
Lee went to Austintown Fitch High School until moving to North Jackson for his senior year. He graduated from Jackson Milton in 1941. He was a three sport athlete at both schools. He continued his love for sports coaching youth baseball for many years in North Jackson. He also loved growing roses at his home.
Lee formerly belonged to the Meander Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the First Federated Church and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, serving as a B24 Pilot and instructor.
He retired from I.B.E.W. No. 573 in Warren in 1987, where he served as business manager from 1965 to 1971. Lee formerly worked for Yobe Electric for many years as a superintendent.
Lee is survived by his children, Judith K. (Pete) Triveri of Coral Springs, Fla., David L. Martin of North Jackson, Kevin D. (Maureen) Martin of Newton Falls and Shawn T. (Tina) Martin of Liberty Township. He is also survived by his brother Harry (Shirley) Martin of Austintown; six grandchildren, Heidi, Brent, Heather, Caitlin, Sean and Brandon; and one great-grandson, Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Irene Kay (McMillin) Martin, whom he married in 1942, and who died in 2002, and his sister, Eleanor Bellay.

CAMPBELL Carole McClendon, 77, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, May 25, 2009, at her home.
Carole was born Feb. 21, 1932 in Campbell, a daughter of Eugene Sr. and Margaret Wright Rollins.
She was a graduate of Campbell Memorial and attended Youngstown State University. She worked as a medical secretary for several years.
She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, a former member of its choir and usher board. She also loved working on the computer.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, St Marys Chapter No. 21-PM, Daisy Bryant Court No. 7 Amarantz-PM, Elizabeth Court No. 1- Herrons of Jericho-PM, Electra Council No. 24-Lady Knights-PM, Supreme Secretary, Ruth Court No. 23-Daughter of Sphinx-PM, Rollins Memorial College No. 24-Rose of the Seven Seals-PM.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 56 years, Delmar McClendon; a son, Michael (Lacinda) McClendon of Des Monies, Iowa; a daughter, Patricia (Leon) Beachman of Alamogordo, N.M.; two brothers, Harold (Alberta) Rollins of Campbell and William Rollins of Concord, Calif.; four grandchildren, Michael McClendon Jr. and Todd McClendon, both of Columbus, Nicole (Eric) Greene of Aurora, Colo. and Victoria Beachman of Sanford, Fla.; one great-grandchild, Ariel Greene of Aurora; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Bette McGarry
YOUNGSTOWN Bette McGarry passed away on May 26, 2009 in her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 5, 1921 in Youngstown and lived in Hubbard until she married her husband Donald in 1942 and moved to Youngstown.
Following World War II, they built their home on the Eastside and it became known as the house by the side of the road, a place for all to stop for a visit and to enjoy a coffee or a meal.
Bette was considered the glue that held the family together, organizing and preparing annual dinners, parties and holiday celebrations for relatives and friends. She was happiest when taking care of and providing for her family, friends and neighbors.
Bette was very active at the Immaculate Conception Church and the community as well as the workplace. She was an energetic participant in the Daughters of the Eucharist, Parent Teachers Association, Help Hotline, Northeast Homeowners, the Youngstown State University Retirement Group, and the 920 Club.
Her working years began when she followed her husband to California, where he was stationed in the Army, and Bette worked for the Greyhound Bus Lines. Upon returning to Youngstown, her career included working for Ohio Edison, managing a card and gift shop in downtown Youngstown, and 17 years as a secretary at the YSU Bookstore.
An avid dog lover, Bette always had a canine friend and she provided a warm and comfortable home for many astray.
Bette is survived by Donald, her husband of 66 years; daughter, Karen; sons, Don (Marge) and Tim (Nancy), all of Youngstown; grandchildren, Holly (Ryan) Bunner of Dublin and Lauren and Patrick of Youngstown; and great-grandchildren, Aidan, Dillon and Quinn, all of Dublin.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Pearl Beasley Simler.

He was born Nov. 23, 1943 in Youngstown at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the son of the late George Edward Michaels and Dorothy (Gerthug) Little. He was raised in Girard.
He worked at the Ohio Block Plant in Niles and as a security guard at Fitzsimmons Steel.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, bingo, gardening and his dogs.
His wife, the former Jean Kaschak, whom he married Nov. 21, 1970, died Jan. 30, 2009.
He leaves his mother, Dorothy Little; two sons, Harmon Jr. of Youngstown and Harold of Youngstown; two stepdaughters, Virginia Khulaft of Canfield and Cynthia Killin of Savannah, Ga.; and one stepson, Robert Killin of Youngstown. He also leaves three brothers, Richard Michaels of McDonald, Carl Little of Niles and James Little of Girard; two sisters, Evelyn Bahn of Girard and Marge Walsh of Girard; also four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; father; stepfather, Carl Little, who raised him; and a brother, Robert Little.

WHITESTONE, N.Y. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, with the Rev. Father Steve Denas officiating for George Nistazos, 71, formerly of Campbell, who passed away Sunday, May 24, at North Shore University Hospital in New York.
George was born May 2, 1938 in Greece, the son of Michael and Olga Soulounia Nistazos and lived in Campbell before moving to New York over 35 years ago.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Queens, N.Y. and a former member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Campbell.
He was the President of Master Painting and Roofing Corp., a Mason with the Mahoning County Lodge for over 30 years and was an avid fisherman and Merchant Marine.
His wife, the former Barbara Vallas, passed away on Feb. 1, 2003.
George was a great father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Irene Nistazos of Whitestone, with whom he made his home; two grandsons, Leo and Georgie Nistazos of N.Y.; two brothers, Manolis and Nikitas; and a sister, Angeliki, all of Greece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

The Nistazos family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.
Lois E. Allen Royce, 94
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Poland Chapel of Cunningham Becker Funeral Home, for Mrs. Lois E. Allen Royce, 94, formerly of Wakefield Avenue. Mrs. Royce died at Greenbriar Healthcare Center on April 28. She would have been 95 on June 1.
Mrs. Royce was born in Youngstown, a daughter of Clarence E. and Bessie Keefer Allen.
She was a graduate of South High School and retired from Ashland Inc. of Columbus, as an office manager. She had been a member of Corem Chapter of Eastern Star and Youngstown Court Order of the Amaranth.
She and her husband, Clarence, whom she married Sept. 10, 1937, and who died in 1993, were active members of the Woodland Park Methodist Church of McDonald for many years.
She is survived by her son, Colonel Charles A. Royce; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, James, and a sister, Dorothea, preceded her in death.
Family and friends will be received Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Lucia A. Lucy Coppola Tatar, 77
STRUTHERS Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers for Lucia A. Lucy Coppola Tatar, 77, who died Tuesday.
Lucy was born in Boiano, Italy on July 21, 1931, a daughter of Luca and Antonia DErcole Mastrocola
She married Anthony Coppola on Oct. 22, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1975. Lucy married Michael J. Tatar Jr. on June 17, 1986, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2007.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Anthonys Womens Auxiliary.
Lucy leaves behind one son, Samuel L. (Catherine) Coppola of Struthers; one daughter, Carolyn A. (William) Rinehart of Poland; one sister, Michelina Janetto of Italy; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Cursillo vigil being held at 8 p.m.
